facemask, they called pass interference. Unless you think that ball was not catchable, which is definitely debatable, there was plenty of contact before the ball got there.

Mook, I think they are referring to the face mask a few plays earlier, not in the end zone
And the receiver would have had to be Inspector Gadget to catch that ball. Not even close to catchable, plus they got a very friendly spot.
They did get a friendly spot, but the only reason he would have had to be inspector Gadget to make the play was because he had a 200 lb dude draped on his back
drunk? If he attacks the DE he's going to get popped immediately, he had no time to attack the DE. It was a hell of a play by the DE, but Folston needs to extend the ball and he has a first down.
Friend of mine, helps me coach kids baseball and basketball, played baseball for WV. Texted me all afternoon and I told him I don't have texts covered in my phone plan!
Extremely happy guy, I hope to share your euphoria today...
FSU is going to win this game by at least 2 TDs, and you haters can keep hating on the wrongly accused. Oh, and suck it. And I mean that in the nicest way possible, of course.
And if it was my daughter, she'd be in a lot of hot water for trying to put an innocent man in jail. Do you know the facts of the case? Read up on it. Specifically her story, or should I say stories? Because she had some trouble keeping it straight.
you would get along well with all of the idiot Penn State fans
No I wouldn't Mook. See, that guy was actually arrested, then found guilty, and Paterno, based on court testimony, looked the other way. Jameis was accused, there was an investigation, and then there was no arrest. See the difference? I'm sure a mental giant like yourself can figure it out.
you'd believe this scum bag piece of shit over your own daughter.
Tells us all we need to know about you. I'm done here.
Well, she's not my daughter and unlike you I am capable of critical thinking... Soooo.... By the way, I don't think much of Jameis. I think he's a punk kid. But I think she's a liar. For the record.
If the roles were reversed, mand FSU was physically manhandling ND like this, but we're only up 7, Greg would be spewing about how lucky ND was that they weren't down by 3 TD's.
Trust me, Greg is staying close waiting for FSU to win and then he'll be all over this thread. He spent all week telling everyone how he hates ND but was rooting for them because he hates Winston more.
He's got to be drinking, he actually questioned my ties to ND, he must have forgotten, I could fill a thread with my ties to ND which lead me to Wellington Mara having dinner in my house, I'll spare you the rest for now, we have a game going on here that Greg has absolutely no interest in besides the fact that Virginia hasn't been a contender and he has no one else to talk to tonight.
Ignore him, let's get down to dominating the more talented DL of FSU with out motivation and superior intelligence...
The reason is because Winston had to play tonight.
But we actually want him in there, the pressure had to get to him sometime, it has arrived. Actually proves the kid has some brains, he knows he cost himself millions of dollars...

Never said any such thing. I would never pull for Notre Dame under any circumstances.
Not sure what Wellington Mara has to do with Notre Dame. You an alum or not? Simple question.

Eh, he did pretty well against Auburn last year and that was some really big pressure too.
The difference is NDs lines are winning on both sides of the ball.
were only allowed to root for a school if they attended that school college football would be played in front of empty stadiums and never on TV, if it was played at all.
cuts right at the snap. If they are truly serious about player safety the first thing they would do is eliminate that
At the snap, I'm not that worried about it when the block down the line of scrimmage. At least at the sanp the lines are low and wary. As the move laterally and they get cut my dislike.
was to yourself and the meager legitimacy you have on this board.
You virtually have 95% of this board pointing out what a dunderhead you are on a daily basis. Its like Deja Vu from just before you got booted off the last time.
What is funny here is that yet again you start it off running your mouth towards someone, and when they bitch slap you with your own idiocy you get your panties all bunched up. lol..You start shit then get all pussified when it blows up in your face.
But you can always tell us how important you are again because you once picked Eric up from the Airport..Haha
I think that was the right call but I've never seen it called in that spot. Ever. Especially when Ramsey reached out and grabbed him to start the play as well
Incidentally, you still gonna be around during basketball season when Virginia kicks the everloving shit out of Notre Dame again like last season? You fucking worm.
I dont think that hurts ND at all. If they win out, they should still make the final 4.
Not a fucking chance they will make the final four. They won't put them in over Oregon, any 1 loss SEC team, or FSU.
This one hurts. I've never seen that call made in that spot, ever
SEC winner
FSU
Oregon.
I think all the SEC teams may still win up with two losses. ND is better than anyone in the Big 12. What may hurt is the a shitty big 10 might make it. I really dont think its over yet for ND.
i have with the call is that Ramsey grabbed him right at the snap, almost baiting him into that. He did hold him, but why is Ramsey allowed to and Prosise not?
ND beats FSU by double digits on a neutral field IMO. Golson reminds me a bit of Russell Wilson. All he does is win.Plays under great composure and there is no moment too big for him. The o-line and d-line licked FSU's butt. great college football game and that game turning call was the correct one.
If ND wins out they have a good chance at the playoff
Puts his hands on prosise first like a jam at the line of scrimmage. Watch it again. Turned out it helped ND, but that was not a "pick". I mean Ramsey was lined up over prosise. It wasn't like he was covering Robinson from the line. Whatever at this point.

Wrapping your arms around his pads is jamming him?

Mook, both ND players came off the line and blocked, didn't even try to disguise it as trying to run a route. They could have called both - heck one guy was still engage 8 yards into the end zone, guess it was Prosise.
before this win and the other 23 are vacated anyway. Jimbo with his "high character" program bullshit, LOL.
Yeah, Jimbo's full of shit, but give me a break with the Domer self righteousness.
Self-righteousness? I'm just calling it like it is -- I'm insulted by the fact that ol' Jimbo is blowing the old "high character program" horn when his best player spends more time on police blotters than a hockey goon does in the penalty box.
Was the recipient of overly conservative play calling on the final FSU possession, and then cries because a play that was admittedly a clear penalty, was called against them to take points off the board. Be happy you showed the nation you went into Tallahassee and gave the reigning national champs a 60 minute dogfight. Great game, but FSU clearly outplayed ND in the 2nd half, and it was because Jameis turned it up, 15-16 passing in the 2nd half.
RE: IDK about that comment about the character of FSU players by Jimbo
Jameis isn't exactly the model human being. Nor is Karlos Williams Jr. Nor are many players
Yeah that's just fucking trolling. His pampered star signing a few autographs, BFD, but even excluding the rape from the conversation he has still acted like a spoiled little shit.
The defensive player actually YANKS the receiver into the end
zone by his jersey. Stop with the "it was a good call" bullshit.
Not the worst call I've seen but the defensive player initiated the contact by jamming the wideout, actually holding the wideout, and then he pitched a fit when he couldn't get free.
RE: Who did they call the penalty on though, #7 or #20?
I thought ND was the better team tonight.I dislike both programs and had no rooting interest and i thought that the interference call was the correct one. The ND player was obviously blocking the FSU defender. The entire play was set up as a pick play. Sometimes you get caught, most of the time, not.
Thanks to all except Greg and Montana who had absolutely no reason to be on this thread but to bait me, I'm sure Eric will see it.
Holy shit. You are the very definition of a narcissist. You're like BBI's version of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, except, not nearly as smart.
I'll enjoy going to sleep tonight knowing this loss makes you a sad panda.
The funniest part is that yesterday he made a post on his silly ass "Jets should be an inspiration to the giants" thread attacking someone else about running to Eric every time they don't like something...Then the dipshit 30 minutes later makes a post begging for the Mods to step in on the very same thread.
You can see the lunacy swimming just below the surface.

It was so blatant it had to be called. They ran the pick all night and did it pretty well. But Fuller and Prosise just got to aggressive. It was a good play call.
a fuck what you think, Greg. Those were my teams growing up, and they will always be my teams. If St. John's played UNC in a playoff setting, I'd root for St. John's, but i still could give a fuck what you or anyone else thinks. If people were only allowed to root for their alma maters and no one else, college sports would not exist on TV
Let it go, it was a great game. We're still relevant in the playoff picture. Winston goes to jail soon and they forfeit this win. Should have kept pounding the defense though, even at no gain. Tire them out, beat them in the end.
Well played regardless, we can play with anyone in the country at anytime.
Networks are on our side, ND rules tradition, ratings and conservative Catholics, in a world where everything wrong gets publicity, it's nice to have the good guys represented.
When the defender initiates the contact? Fuller on Darby maybe, but look again and fuller makes a move to the inside before contact is made. Ramsey on prosise was not a pick at all.
that they get in over any 1 loss SEC team. The SEC teams will have far better strength of schedule, and by the end of the year ND's only win against a ranked team may be AZ State if they were to run the table.
If a 1 loss SEC team is kept out of the playoff, the system will be blown up. ND has a lot of power but no where near the power that the SEC does. And take a look at the people on the panel, not one of them is going to be favorable to ND.
RE: Fuller ran a route, but clearly boxed in the DB.
if Dallas gets away with a similar play where Dez and Witten set a pick and hold our defenders near the goal line and Terrence Williams is wide open to win the game for Dallas tomorrow, we would be screaming righteous anger
had just put his arms up that play would have been good.
Or made any attempt to look like he was moving, running a route, etc. Being stuck in a stationary position with his arms out pretty much sealed the deal.
if Dallas gets away with a similar play where Dez and Witten set a pick and hold our defenders near the goal line and Terrence Williams is wide open to win the game for Dallas tomorrow, we would be screaming righteous anger
We would, but it's never ever called. Fucking sucks when it's called in the biggest spot after they let it go all game and all year.
Was on #7, and it was the definition of a pick play. They could've called it on #20, but #7 ran out to block #3 on FSU, pretty easy call. It's probable that #3 would not have gotten there, but not out of the question if no pick was made.
But Herbstreit was incorrect, the call was not on #20, even though the call could've been made on both players.
Networks are on our side, ND rules tradition, ratings and conservative Catholics, in a world where everything wrong gets publicity, it's nice to have the good guys represented.
Baaaaahahahaha. ....show me on the doll where the priest touched you, Rocky.
The good guys....yeah, I'd think Lizzy Seeberg would have something to say about that, or at least she would if she weren't dead.
I don't think this is going to hurt ND as much as everyone thinks
in his post game on the field never even mentioned Notre Dame and gave them any credit. Just talked about what Jameis Winston stands for and made a fucking fool of himself as he always does whenever he opens his mouth. That fuck is hitching his wagon to Winston because he knows as soon as he leaves FSU immediatey goes back to fucking mediocre like they were before Winston got there

But that doesn't mean it should never be called. This one was so obvious that FSU would be screaming bloody murder and saying "we wuz robbed" and they'd be absolutely right
kind of funny how Jimbo won't shut up about Winston
When he almost cost FSU the game by not giving him a chance to make plays on that last possession. That was some chickenshit play calling and only a fortunate flag kept it from biting him in the ass.
I replayed it, and listened very closely. It was a little diffi ult to hear because of the crowd noise, but the ref clearly called the foul on #7, and no way in hell that looked legal.
ND is done for NC contention this year, but next year
Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel ever coached a college football team.
Jimbo Fisher sounds like William F. Buckley compared to Bud Foster, thr Hokies DC
Well, if we can find a good hick OC, then my dream of an all bumpkin coaching staff could become a reality. I'd pay to hear the metaphors at one of those press conferences.
I've always respected you but let me tell you this, Greg might be a bitch that needs to be slapped but he's intelligent enough to hold his own on just about any thread, wether he's wanted or not, I secretly respect him although I don't agree with him on much.
That said, Montana has no clue on anything about anything, couldn't post a football thread anymore than I could knit a sweater in 24 hours. He's a complete waste of time that waits to make negative posts in hopes his idiot brethren will chime in and make it seem ok.
Best advice, Greg is pissed because Virginia lost to a team that doesn't hire tutors to take the football players courses for them, that had to be pretty embarrassing , so I can understand his angst, he tried to bait me but it will only work against him since I was warned beforehand who and how many would attack me.
Let it go man, chances are, he won't even remember this in the morning. Nothing worse than a drunk marine with access to the internet and no where to go on a Saturday night...
Is a helluva football coach and tremendous recruiter, and he has a southern accent. But at least he's not an ignorant, judgemental fuckwad like some of u pricks.
RE: ND is done for NC contention this year, but next year
I think they can be a legit contender...if all goes well in the off-season like Russell coming back, etc.
If they run the table they are still squarely in it because they'll have wins over Arizona State (away), Stanford (home), USC (away) and Louisville, who is better than many people think
But I don't think they will, Arizona State picks them off in the desert
There has to be one out there. Bud may be a hillbilly with the personality of a stump (which is why he'he's never gotten. A sniff at a head coaching job after all these years) but that sonofabitch can coach a defense. Even I'm not enough of a homer to deny that.
a good case for pre-season #1 next year, the only guys they will lose are Riggs, Lombard, and Koyack. Most players that are playing don't even have the option to leave, and they will get back Russell and iShaq it sounds like.

He must somehow forget how to coach in years where he doesn't have Jameis Winston. He'll go back to the 9-3 coach against a joke schedule that he has been in the non-Winston years

It's for the kids, you cold hearted bastard! How can you expect Jameis Winston to deny those little kids autographs on those expensive items?
Contact was made. I get why they called it but I don't think either guy needed to be that obvious about it.
Fuller's defender started backing up at the snap. He is three yards in the end zone before fuller makes contact just before golson is going to throw the ball. No way he gets there if no contact is made.
Prosise makes immediate contact at the snap almost. His defender would have had further to go and I don't think he would have got there either.
We should have been more aggressive with the 2nd and 3rd down play calls there. Shouldn't have let it come down to one play.
Calling it on Fuller is even worse than Prosise. He did nothing more than you see on every pick/rub play that is never called. Prosise DID hold Ramsey, but only after Ramsey held him. No way was that a penalty on Fuller, because they could call that on every fucking play designed like that if they wanted to, and they don't

Ha...if you have a Rocky decoder ring what he really said was this:
"I really fucked up trying to start shit with Montana in this thread because i got my ass handed to me due to all the stupid ignorant shit i have posted in the past that always comes back to haunt me. So at this point I am going to try to kiss Greg's ass and hope he leaves me alone.
See I have a checkered past on BBI and no one really likes me and that really bothers me due to the fact i am completely socially inept in real life. My biggest problem is I try to validate myself via a football message board but i can't even do that right. I get humiliated very easily and i try too hard to make up for that by making idiotic threads all the time.
Hopefully Eric will need a ride again and i can feel important for 10 mins by picking him up at the airport"
play call is one that I hated. The bubble screen to Prosise. I want 4 shots at the end zone there, I want each pass to go into the end zone or at least very close.

And how did ND do without Golson? Fisher was left with crap when Bowden left and stuck with Mickey Andrews as DC.
How did Florida do when Tebow Left?
Alabama seems to be the only team that wins every year.
look, ultimately you have to at least pretend to run a route

Spare me the bullshit about Jimbo being left with crap. Jimbo Fisher was their main recruiter from 2007 on. He knew he was going to be the coach when Bobby retired, he recruited most of those players they had in 2010-2011-2012 and they were mediocre each year. He also had 2 quarterbacks who NFL teams decided were good enough to be first round NFL picks. Brian Kelly took ND and was left with Tommy fucking Rees, a guy who couldn't even make a training camp with an NFL team. And Everett Golson was a 3 star talent coming out of high school according to all of the experts, Winston was a can't miss stud according to everyone.
looked like they were blocking. It does seem like one of them wasn't as guilty as the other, but put side by side when a guy scores a wide open TD and defenders have their arms up about not being able to get over there, and you're going to draw a flag.

He won the Orange Bowl in his 3rd season as FSU head coach and a 12-2 record, without Jameis. He turned the program around after it fell off a cliff in the latter years of St. Bobby. You can hope for whatever, but his recruiting classes are right up there with Alabama now, and the FSU program is going to be relevant a long time after Jameis, as long as he sticks around, and I think he will.
But that's irrelevant. Is it a legit penalty, even if it isn't called consistently? Yes.
My issue is if you're going to let them get away with it and set a precedent, you can't then just call it out of the blue because you feel like it. You set that precedent that it wouldn't be called, so players think they are fine doing what they did.
And don't agree with the call. Nd fan so call me biased, but FSU db's were the aggressors when you look at who made contact first. Fuller angles out at the snap and then makes a quick step towards the inside. Darby follows and puts his hands on him first. So as Robinson is running wide Darby is following the guy he was covering inside and initiates contact. Ramsey/prosise not even close to a pick.

Won the orange bowl against probably the worst orange bowl participant ever. Convenient that you left that out.
Take a look at this schedule and tell me 12-2 was an accomplishment with the talent they have.
Murray State
Savannah State
Wake Forest
Clemson
USF
NC State
Boston College
Miami
Duke
Virginia Tech (7-6)
Maryland
Florida
Jimbo can't hide behind Bobby's mess, he got there in 2007 and took over as OC and their lead recruiter, and he knew he was going to take over. That was his ship from 2007 on but he didn't have the title of Head Coach.
Georgia Tech
Northern Illinois
Any decent team wins 12 games against that schedule. They played 2 good teams all year and lost twice.
They ran that rub play several times during the game, but none of those times were the receivers so obviously blocking. It was a penalty, a clear call, not even debatable. They made it waaaaay too obvious and they got pinched. Game over. Btw, they still had a play after that to try and win and they failed. Notre Dame will probably lose another 2-3 games this year, but they can hang their hat that they played very well and almost knocked off the champs.

The first time Prosise absolutely was blocking, and they didn't call it. Watch it again, it may have even been worse than this. Yeah, they had a 4th and goal from the 18, that's like a 1% play if that. I though the fair thing to do on that play would be to call holding on Ramsey, and offensive pass interference. Puts the ball right back on the 2 yard line.
And get the fuck out of here with probably lose another 2-3 games. They have 2 games left that they'll even have a chance at losing, and they are more talented than both of those teams.
tomorrow and watch how many times they run plays like that just as blatant of picks that are not called. He's made a living on those picks for nearly 2 decades now, and I never see them called.
Frustrating as shit to see them decide to call it now and wreck ND's season
Are you going to cry all night about it? I feel sad for you. It's a penalty. There's a way to run the rub play and it's legal. They ran the pick play and it's not. Pretty easy call for most.
And again, the call was on #7 Fuller, not on #20 Prosise.
BTW, when you are an assistant head coach to Bobby Bowden, the face of the program is still Bobby Bowden, until it's not. It's no secret down here that FSU started getting the NFL-type body recruits after Bobby left. You can be called the "main recruiter" or whatever you want, but the head coach was still Bobby, and, despite the fact he is a living coaching legend, the game had passed him by. It handicaps you as a recruiter. You can try to deny this, but you'd be wrong. As further evidence, it's quite coincidental that FSU started getting the top 5 recruiting classes again after Bobby left.
And Jimbo winning the Orange Bowl in his 3rd season, and a national title in his 4th, is an enormous accomplishment, and Texas would've loved to pry him away from FSU this past offseason, but Jimbo wasn't interested.
Say what you want. The team just had a QB leave to go to WVU who just knocked off #4 Baylor today, and another QB that pushed to be the starting QB at Alabama (Coker). The Noles have the kind of talent now that they are subsidizing other teams.
They likely aren't going to win the national championship this year, but they will be in the conversation for years to come, with or without Jameis.
stats for the game say that the penalty was called on Prosise, not Fuller.
The official stats for the game is incorrect. The ref made the call on #7. I replayed it on my DVR, so did Blake and he admitted it as well. The official stats are likely going off of the TV feed... as the official was getting somewhat drowned out by the crowd noise, and Herbstreit assumed it was Prosise and called it that way. But if you listen, the ref clearly called it on Fuller. He says #7. So sad. But I agree that the penalty could've been called fairly on both players.
I'm a good guy, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt anywhere I could. Do you know how much it hurts me to respect Greg? I have to, he's earned it.
What have you done, anywhere, anytime?
Ya know, fuck it, I'm not gonna do this.
Make a post, an original post that people might give you shit for and you're cool.
We don't have to agree, just post an original thought, that's all. Then maybe I'll tell you about my dinner with John Elway Franco Harris, Tommy Lasorda and Martin Mull. At the 92 Super Bowl in Minny. Elway and Harris never got a word in, Laorda was great until Martin Mull had us all pissing our pants. That's where LT stuck me with the $150 bartab. I'm connected, you're a jealous wannabe, shut the fuck up, but I mean that nicely. Waiting for your response...
Notre Dame is going to lose to Arizona State next week in the desert. Then they are going to lose at least one of their remaining 3 games, I mean really, I wouldn't pick ND -10 on any of those remaining games. Then there is the bowl game. They barely beat a shitty UNC team, and squeaked by Stanford.
Notre Dame played great tonight... they went up a weight class and fought hard... but honestly, ND will be back to the lovable losers in no time.
if they called it on Fuller it was absolute bullshit. There is no rule that says you have to run a route, so saying that is meaningless. And Fuller did run a route, the fucking corner on him blew the coverage and instead of passing him off and going to Robinson, he ran with Fuller, and Fuller did exactly what every other guy does who runs a fucking rub route.
Watch this replay and tell me what Fuller did wrong.
Cody Riggs got called for holding that cost ND 4 points, the right call but conveniently Jalen Ramsey was not called for the same thing when he held Prosise right at the snap.
FSU blew the coverage because they had 2 guys playing man and one playing zone, and then bitched their way into a flag.
where you can clearly see two of the DB's talking and one pretty upset, like the other fucked up the coverage. He was going to be wide open either way because the corner blew the coverage, which is an even bigger kick in the nuts link - ( New Window )

Go fuck yourself. You don't have the slighest fucking clue about ND. How about FSU in a dog fight against a worthless NC State squad? Based on that I'll say FSU loses 2 more games, funny how that works
What's the matter Mook? Come on man, I was just trying to tweak ya and I guess it worked. I'm cool with FSU not winning it all this year. Still basking in the glow of last year. But come on, you can't really have this level of confidence in ND... I'll tell you, Brian Kelly is a good coach... he had them well-prepared and they played their asses off. But come on... ND having ANY shot at winning the national title in the near future is clearly wishful thinking.

Mystique? Doesn't mean shit.
Why shouldn't I have this level of confidence in ND? There are two remaining games on their schedule that they could lose. AZ State and USC. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they lost one or even both. They will absolutely not lose 3 games from here on out, like you suggested. Golson has lost exactly two games as a starter, and now he's going to lose 3 in the matter of a month when he only has two tough games?
at their roster and recruiting and what they will bring back and tell me they have no shot at winning a national championship next year. It's not wishful thinking by any means. And they were clearly good enough to play with FSU this year, and there is not one clear dominant team this year so why not them? We watched the same game tonight. There was very little to nothing that separated FSU from ND this year, the game came down to 2 yards. Notre Dame didn't get pushed around, FSU didn't outclass them with their athletes. This isn't ND of 2012, they have speed to go up against anyone. And their team is one of the youngest in the country, they bring back basically everyone next year and will add Keivarae Russell, who will be like adding a 5 star recruit.
ND played a terrific first half, and FSU showed up in the 2nd half and was clearly the better team. None of that final sequence would have happened without 1) some questionable playcalling on FSU's last possession where they conceded a 3 and out punt, an 2)a fluky 4th and 18 conversion where the ball was basically chucked up with a prayer that was answered.
Not to take anything away from ND. But they were not the better team tonight. The gave a good punch, but FSU simply has better talent top to bottom.
And FSU is not as good as they were last year. The loss of Kelvin Benjamin stung, and so does some of the offensive linemen like C Brian Stork. Defensively, they have some players but are young, and they have really been beat up by injuries this year.
I don't think FSU will repeat... they have a puncher's chance. ND is not ready for prime time. If FSU had to play Alabama right now they'd lose by at least 20. So we'll just have to see what happens. But don't hold your breath for a ND title anytime. The appearance they made a couple years ago was a joke. A bookies nightmare. You probably only made 10 cents to the dollar on the money line for that game.

FSU won by 4 points and 2 yards. ND outgained FSU by 100+ yards. The idea that FSU has so much more talent top to bottom is bullshit, it certainly didn't show up on the field at any point in the game. Both teams have top flight QB's. FSU may have more names, but these ND guys are going to become household names real quick, and they are insanely young.
And bullshit on Bama beating FSU by 20. The same Bama who played a mediocre at best Arkansas squad and won by a point. A&M has mailed in their season, they checked out after the Miss State game. Bama isnt anywhere near as good as the score showed today. I'd take FSU on a neutral field over Bama mostly because they have by far the best player on the field and he just so happens to play QB. When you have a top QB, you have a great shot to beat anyone

The 4th and 18 play was not "chucked up" Robinson was wide open, and Golson moved in the pocket and made a terrific throw with a guy about to pop him. You're acting like he threw up a hail mary and it got tipped up in the air or someone caught the ball off of his helmet.
ND is ready for prime time. And they will be next year, too. People keep wanting to down play this team because of what they thought of them going into the season. There is talent and speed everywhere on this team. A lot of that talent right now is freshman and sophomores getting very valuable experience. They will be pre-season top 5 easily next year and they will have earned that ranking. No team is going to bring back as many starters as they will next year.
No your not Rocky..You are an insecure loser who has the maturity level of a 13 year old..The mere fact that you keep trying to equate value and substance to a fucking internet message board speaks volumes of how lame you really are.
You sat here in this thread and tried multiple times to rally support to yourself with other posters and failed miserably. You don't like getting bitched slap then don't start shit, but especially don't continue to humiliate yourself by begging for help and being left stranded....Stop being a little pussy and man the hell up and handle it yourself. But when you can't handle it, don't start it if you don't want to be made the fool again.
Your opinion on what constitutes "Football knowledge" is laughable given the resume of threads you start on the subject. You literally get punk'ed on every football thread you initiate due to the asinine logic and complete lack of understanding of the game you illustrate. I mean seriously you are the laughing stock of this board at this point.
But what really made my night is knowing that I am completely in your head AFTER you tried to start shit...Now go run to the mods with that Nancy..
Oregon lost to Arizona at home. TCU lost to Baylor, who have played exactly two difficult games so far. One a last second win over TCU, and one a two touchdown loss at WVU.
Anyone who puts TCU over ND at this point needs their head examined
must have been too busy calling offensive pass interference to call a penalty on 26 for taking off his helmet.
Would have made it first and goal from the 9 yard line. Fuck I have to go to bed, this one is tough to swallow. If it's a rule, just like the pick play, then fucking call it regardless of the situation. No gray area in that one or not, he took off his helmet on the field as soon as Robinson crossed the goal line, and it wasn't called.
20 is blocking downfield well before the ball is released. It was the perfect example of a rub, pick, whatever. And honestly it didn't need to be so obvious. Robinson had such a great outside release and the throw was on the money. FSU got lucky bringing the heat. Horrible defensive call and extremely lucky to get nailed out by a penalty.

The defenders fucked up the coverage, too. The guy who was supposed to get Robinson ran with Fuller. He was going to be wide open with or without the pick, I know refs don't know that, but it's just a kick in the nuts. I still think it should have been offsetting penalties as Prosise got held, too.

Its a tough call Mook. Especially in that situation. But 20 clearly interfered with 8s ability to cover 88. It was a pick. No doubt. Was there confusion by the FSU defensive backfield? Yeah. No question. They got extremely lucky. But it was the right call IMO.
8 was ever even going to try to cover Prosise, if he was he never would have initiated the contact in the first place and grabbed Prosise at the snap. I think Darby blew the coverage, and as soon as the play ended (which is the exact same point that 26 took off his helmet with no flag) the 3 defenders were yelling at each other like someone fucked up the coverage
have to move on and finally go to bed although I'm just fuckin pissed off and probably wont fall asleep for a while. All my venting hopefully out of my system. Nice chatting with everyone tonight, great game even if it felt like a kick in the nuts at the end. Didn't get the break in the end but still have a shot to get in the playoff. Go Irish. Go Giants
all the news accounts say the penalty was on Prosise. Crazy game. I don't think ND is out of the playoff at all. They are a dangerous team. After last night, I'm convinvced they can play with anybody.
what game where you watching? Of course they are ready for prime time. Just look how they played last night on the road. They have some amazing offensive talent at QB, WR and RB.
I don't think a last second loss diminishes that at all.
That was a thrilling game, especially if you recorded it in advance
said that he cried to the officials earlier in the game about ND running a pick play onnone of their TD's. He said he asked them to watch for it and call it when it happened again. Watching the replay over and over, it is obvious that he alerted his players to it as well, because they made ZERO attempt to cover the receiver. Ramsey grabbed his guy and brought him in to him as soon as he recognized the play. He made no attempt to separate. As soon as the play is over, he turns to the official and throws his arms up. That was a staged play as soon as they recognized the formation, to get the call.
It was a close play, could have went either way, but FSU talked the refs into that one, which is complete bullshit. They warned them, then their players went all Hollywood as soon as they seen the formation.
who is the biggest Notre Dame shill on television said the offensive pass interference call was "obvious", yet there are those here who are still bitching about it.

I'm an ND fan and have been since I was 6 or 7 like my Dad was - like Petesherenow - a North Jersey Irish Catholic. I also have been a FSU fan for years and had a kid graduate from there, so I was between a rock and a hard place last night. But that was an illegal pick - wasn't PI on Ramsey - Prosise and Fuller both came off the line and locked onto their defenders with Fuller pushing his almost to the endline. If it had been a sweep, it would have been a masterful piece of blocking by both players. The previous picks by ND were not so aggressive, borderline as most picks are, but still legal, well run plays.
On the play in question, Prosise was so effective that he effectively took out two DBs. Not being and Xs & Os guy, it seems Fuller prevented the outside DB from releasing to the flat; Prosise locked on to his guy head up and prevented his release toward Fuller, leaving the 3rd DB who should have picked up Prosise with an inside release with nothing to do.
That Fisher pointed out to the officials that ND was running picks is not unusual - all coaches worth a crap do the same. It is done at the NFL level too.
It is too bad that that play is the one people will chose to focus on. I wish it was a clean TD or a clean defensive play. Kelly came in with a great game plan and his team did a great job executing it. In honesty I thought ND was the better team last night.
Florida State for their program, and Notre Dame for their fans. I wanted both teams to lose. Watching it live (and on replays), I thought the pick was blatant. It very likely would have been a touchdown anyway, but it looked like an obvious penalty that has to be called.
Notre Dame is not out of the playoff hunt. That program has too many fanboys who like to see them ranked highly for nostalgic reasons or any other.

Acknowledging Winston is despicable, what is wrong with the rest of the program at FSU? Are you basing disliking the program on one person? Funny but I did not see any taunting, showboating (except for Travis Rudolph's TD high step and that was not that bad)from either team last night. Just curious as to what it is you don't like, as a respectiful query. Will not criticise.
ND fans - really? Are they any different than USC, Michigan, Viginia or Texas? Why, because they have a bigger fan base of non-alumni than the rest of the NCAA? ND fans aren't bandwagon fans - they don't come and go with success. This is one "hatred" that does piss me off.
but is that a penalty in the NFL? I don't remember ever seeing that call in the pros. Well, if it's the same penalty, about once a year in the NFL they call a pick on the offense.
IMHO, if it would not have affected the outcome of the play, it should not have been called. The refs have no business determining the outcome of a game like that unless the penalty was game changing.
Reminds me of the Super Bowl loss to the Ravens where a holding call on the Giants defensive lineman that nullified a pick 6 that I think would have tied the game at the time. I don't remember ever seeing that penalty called in the NFL since then.

Ahhhh, the Keith Hamilton phantom hold - and yes they still call that from time to time.
Yes that pick play is a penalty in the NFL and it is called, but not often. Difference is pro players do it more cleanly. And I just remembered, the ND TE #18 was called earlier in the game for it - called it a holding penalty. It was on a pass to Fuller who only got a couple yards, iirc.
leaving for the NFL is always a possibility but I dont think it will be this off-season. He knows the type of team he is going to have at ND next year, very difficult to leave that. He has already said if he interviews for the NFL again he's pretty much gone. I think ND will tell him to take a hike if he interviews again. I don't think there will be a ton of great jobs available, either. He already turned down the Eagles. Jets and Atlanta probably best jobs that will be available and Jets almost certainly will go to the Seattle coordinator.
Here are the jobs that have a shot to be available in the off-season
called? You don't actually watch much football do you?
Wow, is this a hostile thread.
You have to admit that it is called only rarely in the NFL and when a rare penalty is called to determine the outcome of a great game like that you have to question it.
If the official thought that that penalty prevented the defense from having a good shot at changing the outcome of the play, then I'm for it. If he called the penalty just because he saw an illegal action, knowing that the penalty would not have affected the play and without also considering that his flag would decide the game, he should not have thrown the flag.
It's like not calling pass interference, even though the DB clearly interfered, because the ball was uncatchable.

I think the Atlanta job with Ryan/Julio has a lot of appeal. But I still doubt he bolts.

Most Texas fans have a connection to Texas or are from the state. Same with Michigan, same with USC, etc. And as far as UVa goes, no one who doesn't have a personal or geographic connection would ever put themselves through the torture of being a Virginia fan.
Most Notre Dame fans, on the other hand, don't know a soul who attended one class and would be hard pressed to find South Bend, Indiana on a map. That program has been mostly irrelevant for two decades yet they get shoved down everyone's throat by NBC and college football columnists because of Knute Rockne or George Gipp or something.
If they got the coverage they merited as a middling program over the past 20 years, people wouldn't despise them so much.
definitely has a lot of appeal, and they have a good owner who is pretty patient, but who knows if they would even go after Kelly. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part but knowing how good they can be next year I would have a real hard time seeing Kelly walk away from that team, he has been talking already how young they are this year and how good he thinks they are going to be next year.

We get it. You don't like Notre Dame. Why do you need to keep repeating it?
I had no rooting interest in the game. That being said I really thing ND got jobbed. And I said that right after that play happened.
The guy they called the penalty on got mugged by the DB. As mook clearly pointed out and I saw the same thing with the DB holding and jamming the Wr so he can't release from the line. How that is a pick I don't know.
FSU was playing man and maybe the outside DB is suppose to switch on that, but if that's a pick play how come the DB covering Robinson wasn't picked? He just got caught up in the wash, no one touched him.
And don't complain about the top Wr blocking the DB. All he did was go up the field and get in the way of the DB. If this is illegal then you need to take away 200 TDs that Peyton Manning has thrown. They run this same shit down around the goal line. They don't actually set "picks" but merely run interference by getting in the way of the DBs.
Btw, Mook I caught the guy taking off his helmet. I pointed out to the people I was watching the game. It should've been flagged for sure.

See this is where your head is up your tail pipe - They get big coverage because lots of people root for them - or against. They draw! Get it - marketing. ND has great demographics, that is why they have their own deal with NBC. Not really hard to see.
And yeah, gee a whole lot of Catholics, especially Irish - you know 26% of the US population - identify with ND. We're a clanish group.
There is a mythical baseball team from the Bronx we root for that are almost always the biggest draw opposing teams have each year. Whether they are god or bad, people come to see the Yankees. Good or bad, people come out to see ND.
I apologize in advance for my condescending tone, but you got my Irish up.
My mom's family is Irish Catholic from Kilkelly and Ballina
when people like Greg call myself and other ND fans bandwagon fans, then in the same breath talk about how ND has been irrelevant for 20+ years. I'm 27 years old, so according to him they've been irrelevant since I was at least 7, yet I'm a bandwagon, even though my entire existence as an ND fan has been nothing but heart break or shitty seasons.
RE: They get the media coverage because they still
I compare Notre Dame fans to Cowboy fans. I thought that both were frontrunners who would desert the teams if they ever just became mediocre.
Well both became mediocre for decades and still have fans all out of proportion to their win-loss records.
I credit the fans for sticking with their teams after they went from legendary to irrelevant.
Reeces - difference is that Cowboy fans ARE bandwagon. ND is not. The ND fans don't leave - like Giants fans they suffer through Jerry Faust, Ty Willingham (I liked him), Charlie Weiss... we Giants had he whom shall remain nameless..
eh, it is all irrelevant because we could discuss this every week.
"Actually I have less clarity...Florida State blew the coverage and got rewarded for it."
No one on FSU was ever attempting to cover Robinson. His defender never got picked because his defender never existed. Frustrating as shit.
I think because the guy that should have had Robinson was being shoved to the back of the endzone by Fuller. I would think the outside DB would have rotated to the flat; whomever was over Prosise would rotate to Fuller and the inside DB to Prosise. But I'm not certain. And Prosise did his job so well, he actually took out the inside DB too.
But it would be nice for somebody semi-official to draw it up and explain the coverages and why it was PI since it was such a big play.

As far as their defensive call, yes Darby should have had Robinson, but he runs with Fuller and never tries to play Robinson, Darby blew the coverage, as soon as Fuller went inside Darby followed and then thats when the contact came
Yeah they put it up just for this game .
Are all dropping into coverage, gotta block up front, run some draws and turn Golson loose.
God's our 12th man!
What about the late hit?
What about the late hit?
Wrong and wrong.
But ND interior line starting to blow open some holes.
It was a face mask, got us 15, should have been thirty?
It was a face mask, got us 15, should have been thirty?
Neither a facemask (bad call) nor late hit.
Or is that wrong too?
Yeah baby!
Name one.
It was a facemmask and it was pass interference.
Even the announcers said it wasn't a facemask.
Definitely a face mask and a late hit

Then, the announcers are wrong also. It was about 4 yards into the 10 yard run.
Mook, I think they are referring to the face mask a few plays earlier, not in the end zone
They did get a friendly spot, but the only reason he would have had to be inspector Gadget to make the play was because he had a 200 lb dude draped on his back
I grew up in NJ. I'm Catholic. Rutgers was never on TV. My dad took me to a ND game when I was 6.
Were there only 7 men on the field that play?

Let Jim has his platform he obviously doesn't realize that everything has been delayed so Winston can play tonight.
Nice pass
Winston sucks, let him play...
4:30 minute drive, TD to end the half. Let's get this done!
Thank God.

Easy to not get arrested when the school and police department spend a year covering it up and doing everything they could to discredit the victim.
The fact that you believe that propaganda is not surprising. And 9/11 was an inside job, right?
He's innocent. Winston's a great guy. I'm sure he carries a 3.5 grade average and attends every class. Watch the game...
Let's not jinx the kharma...
Tells us all we need to know about you. I'm done here.
He looks just like Tim Brown...
He did.
No I wouldn't Mook. See, that guy was actually arrested, then found guilty, and Paterno, based on court testimony, looked the other way. Jameis was accused, there was an investigation, and then there was no arrest. See the difference? I'm sure a mental giant like yourself can figure it out.
You Irish tonight or a criminal?
OL beating the piss out of the drugged up DL. Good guys are winning.
Keep the pace boys. Stay true...
He looks just like Tim Brown...
I always thought Tony Rice.
Tells us all we need to know about you. I'm done here.
Well, she's not my daughter and unlike you I am capable of critical thinking... Soooo.... By the way, I don't think much of Jameis. I think he's a punk kid. But I think she's a liar. For the record.
Winston sucks, he's guilty as sin.
Watch the game or start your own thread pleading your case.
Fuck
Let's us all kneel now in prayer to TouchDown Jesus...
Yeah, they played about as well as they possibly can.....and they're only up 7.

ND. They did almost everything right.
Yeah, they played about as well as they possibly can.....and they're only up 7.
yeah, they played as well as they can, yet they fumbled a snap on 4th and 1, threw an interception, and got stopped on 4th and 1 at midfield.
None of those would have happened if they played as well as they possibly can.
Man they kicked the shit out of Baylor...
Whatever fits his agenda...

Rocky you need to calm your rhetoric too and wait for the facts. It will may not be as you think. There is a reason why the DA didn't indict.
As the premier football tradition in the history of college football, I can't tell you how much that is appreciated.
Fucking imbeciles...
Trust me, Greg is staying close waiting for FSU to win and then he'll be all over this thread. He spent all week telling everyone how he hates ND but was rooting for them because he hates Winston more.
Never said any such thing. I would never pull for Notre Dame under any circumstances.
Not sure what Wellington Mara has to do with Notre Dame. You an alum or not? Simple question.
The reason is because Winston had to play tonight.
But we actually want him in there, the pressure had to get to him sometime, it has arrived. Actually proves the kid has some brains, he knows he cost himself millions of dollars...
Eh, he did pretty well against Auburn last year and that was some really big pressure too.
The difference is NDs lines are winning on both sides of the ball.
Ignore him.
Like I need a reason to drop my ND connections.
Probably start a thread on it tomorrow but tonight we enjoy making it a game.
Tied in 3, we're ahead of the game...
FSU adjusted
ND is smarter, we'll adjust better...
At the snap, I'm not that worried about it when the block down the line of scrimmage. At least at the sanp the lines are low and wary. As the move laterally and they get cut my dislike.
That's what I mean... don't make it easy for him to read it... drop off a time or two.
never go to class, doing every drug possible, getting rape cases dropped, stupid ass chop fans school like they might not be that smart?
Go Irish...

Brian Kelley gotten any more kids killed on scissor lifts in high winds this year?
Duke doesn't cheat and still won...
With a backup QB
3 minutes plus in the third
Better than expectations.
FSU's D has been getting beat up, run the ball...
Rooting for FSU because I'm a ND fan
I should be flattered Greg, that you changed positions so quickly but it just shows how shallow you are.
See that Duke game?
Lol...
Yeesh...
Good kick
Time for a turnover...
Drive of the game here for ND defense.
...
Give that punter a couple of coeds later...
The drugs are wearing off. Beat them into submission...
The ballwash about Jameis the leader.
Let me check my program...
FSU can tackle in the open field...
I haven't seen any pickle juice on the sideline
Gotta run the ball, amphetamines dehydrate you after 3 hours.
All right, 3 points, gotta play D again...

Welcome to the party.
FSU can't run on us but we can't hang with the WRs.
Need a turnover at the goaline...
Get a FG and be in position.
Gotta tell you the truth, I'm happy to be here.
FSU D is worn down
Run the ball!
We're not fast enough. It's a tough situation. Winston is good, they have speed. Ball control right now, TD with little time left?
Watch the game...
Where did you get that name and why are you using it?
Been busy all day, anybody see the Duke score today?
We wore em down, we take advantage now...
I needed the laugh though...
Christ!
Such a sad delusional outlook on reality when you need a football thread to be the "factor" in ones life.
5 minutes, 2 TOs
Let's get it done.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2015 Oakland Raiders 1st round pick.
Your next intelligent football post will be your first.
You have no reason to be on this thread but to try and cover your ass from me abusing you yesterday. Grounds for banishment I think.
That would be sweet, ban the complete non contributor to anything BBI.
Justice...
Stupid penalty.

You got banned twice for your inability to control yourself on baseball threads. You're the last one to nominate anyone for ban-worthiness.
Couldn't ask for anything more

You virtually have 95% of this board pointing out what a dunderhead you are on a daily basis. Its like Deja Vu from just before you got booted off the last time.
What is funny here is that yet again you start it off running your mouth towards someone, and when they bitch slap you with your own idiocy you get your panties all bunched up. lol..You start shit then get all pussified when it blows up in your face.
But you can always tell us how important you are again because you once picked Eric up from the Airport..Haha
Wide open and over thrown
You can run now godson, it would work
Godson...
FSU so doesnt deserve this with bad coaching and dumb playing.
Meant golson
Inside the 5
Refs are italian
yup
Yep. Major mental error that cost them the game.
I dont think that hurts ND at all. If they win out, they should still make the final 4.
Great game though
Keeps us in the playoff picture.
Thanks to all except Greg and Montana who had absolutely no reason to be on this thread but to bait me, I'm sure Eric will see it.
I dont think that hurts ND at all. If they win out, they should still make the final 4.
Not a fucking chance they will make the final four. They won't put them in over Oregon, any 1 loss SEC team, or FSU.
This one hurts. I've never seen that call made in that spot, ever
Gotta tuck that man
Play D boys, keep it close. Networks need ND to win.
GOD LOVES US!
If that's the case, I think God might've had some money on FSU...
Incidentally, you still gonna be around during basketball season when Virginia kicks the everloving shit out of Notre Dame again like last season? You fucking worm.
Glad to see the Irish back.

SEC winner
FSU
Oregon.
I think all the SEC teams may still win up with two losses. ND is better than anyone in the Big 12. What may hurt is the a shitty big 10 might make it. I really dont think its over yet for ND.
It was a legit call. The receiver never even pretended to run a route. It doesn't take much, just the pretense of a route is enough to prevent a flag.
I'd take the under.
I don't think they run the rest of the table though

Yeah, Jimbo's full of shit, but give me a break with the Domer self righteousness.
Wrapping your arms around his pads is jamming him?
Mook, both ND players came off the line and blocked, didn't even try to disguise it as trying to run a route. They could have called both - heck one guy was still engage 8 yards into the end zone, guess it was Prosise.
Great game though
Keeps us in the playoff picture.

Holy shit. You are the very definition of a narcissist. You're like BBI's version of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, except, not nearly as smart.
I'll enjoy going to sleep tonight knowing this loss makes you a sad panda.
Because people think getting grabbed by a defender immediately after the snap somehow constitutes offensive pass interference.

Yeah that's just fucking trolling. His pampered star signing a few autographs, BFD, but even excluding the rape from the conversation he has still acted like a spoiled little shit.

It's the Rocky Thompson MO: Be a jack ass and then, blame it on everyone else. Sad really. You'd think a grown man would actually act like one.
Not the worst call I've seen but the defensive player initiated the contact by jamming the wideout, actually holding the wideout, and then he pitched a fit when he couldn't get free.
They called it on Prosise
F*ck off?

The funniest part is that yesterday he made a post on his silly ass "Jets should be an inspiration to the giants" thread attacking someone else about running to Eric every time they don't like something...Then the dipshit 30 minutes later makes a post begging for the Mods to step in on the very same thread.
You can see the lunacy swimming just below the surface.
Lmao
Maybe, Mook, but at least my teams actually are my teams Mr. "I'm a ND football fan and a UNC basketball fan, and oh by the way I went to St. John's"
What other favorites you got? UCLA volleyball, Wichita State baseball, Duke lacrosse, Iowa wrestling?

He does the same shit on Yankee threads to Yankee fans.. he just tries to get your goat if you're rooting for the other team... just let it be, I say.
It was so blatant it had to be called. They ran the pick all night and did it pretty well. But Fuller and Prosise just got to aggressive. It was a good play call.
Sleep well...
If a 1 loss SEC team is kept out of the playoff, the system will be blown up. ND has a lot of power but no where near the power that the SEC does. And take a look at the people on the panel, not one of them is going to be favorable to ND.
Yeah it was more Fuller...I did not see how they could call that on Prosie
Ohio State got beat, and never even lead, against an awful Virginia Tech squad at home.
Michigan State lost to Oregon, so if Oregon has 1 loss you can't make any argument for MSU over Oregon
Or made any attempt to look like he was moving, running a route, etc. Being stuck in a stationary position with his arms out pretty much sealed the deal.
We would, but it's never ever called. Fucking sucks when it's called in the biggest spot after they let it go all game and all year.

But that doesn't mean it should never be called. This one was so obvious that FSU would be screaming bloody murder and saying "we wuz robbed" and they'd be absolutely right
Well, if it's not, then please let us know why FSU continues to turn the blind eye to Winston and play him week after week?
Still waiting for him to give ND credit. Piece of shit
He should pay Winston whatever bonuses he gets, because he's carrying his fucking ass for 2 years
Jimbo Fisher sounds like William F. Buckley compared to Bud Foster, thr Hokies DC
I don't know Bake, it looked to me like 7 went right into blocking mode
I replayed it, and listened very closely. It was a little diffi ult to hear because of the crowd noise, but the ref clearly called the foul on #7, and no way in hell that looked legal.

If they run the table they are still squarely in it because they'll have wins over Arizona State (away), Stanford (home), USC (away) and Louisville, who is better than many people think
But I don't think they will, Arizona State picks them off in the desert
Yes. The call was on #7. Listen close.
Apparently he's also good at arranging autograph sessions.

How did Florida do when Tebow Left?
Alabama seems to be the only team that wins every year.
I've seen much worse not called nearly every game.

Lol at Montana's attempt at a contributing thread.

You're call man, I'm off to music threads or SOA reruns...

My issue is if you're going to let them get away with it and set a precedent, you can't then just call it out of the blue because you feel like it. You set that precedent that it wouldn't be called, so players think they are fine doing what they did.
Lol at Montana's attempt at a contributing thread.

Frustrating as shit to see them decide to call it now and wreck ND's season
Notre Dame played great tonight... they went up a weight class and fought hard... but honestly, ND will be back to the lovable losers in no time.

I owe you first shot for how you've been good to me although I've been one of your biggest detractors here on BBI...

You have 24 hours you crazy Bastid...
Calling it on Fuller was a blown call, watch the replay and then tell me I'm wrong about it. Fuller did nothing wrong. Prosise did.
FSU just squeaked by Oklahoma State, who is every bit as worthless as Stanford, so based on that FSU will definitely lose a couple more games.
My friend
Last call was a while ago
Can I interest you in something more along the contemporary furniture line?
Mystique? Doesn't mean shit.
Got me there moookman
Continue to argue with Jim, who actually believes that Winston didn't have his way with that girl.
I understand though, done the same thing myself too many times.
Can't help you though, not that you would need it, lol, I got to get to bed.
Something about some team called Dallas or something...

Would have made it first and goal from the 9 yard line. Fuck I have to go to bed, this one is tough to swallow. If it's a rule, just like the pick play, then fucking call it regardless of the situation. No gray area in that one or not, he took off his helmet on the field as soon as Robinson crossed the goal line, and it wasn't called.
Fuck. Go Irish
The defenders fucked up the coverage, too. The guy who was supposed to get Robinson ran with Fuller. He was going to be wide open with or without the pick, I know refs don't know that, but it's just a kick in the nuts. I still think it should have been offsetting penalties as Prosise got held, too.
Quote:
20 is blocking downfield well before the ball is released. It was the perfect example of a rub, pick, whatever. And honestly it didn't need to be so obvious. Robinson had such a great outside release and the throw was on the money. FSU got lucky bringing the heat. Horrible defensive call and extremely lucky to get nailed out by a penalty.

Its a tough call Mook. Especially in that situation. But 20 clearly interfered with 8s ability to cover 88. It was a pick. No doubt. Was there confusion by the FSU defensive backfield? Yeah. No question. They got extremely lucky. But it was the right call IMO.
Not one referee saw him take off his helmet?
Ramsey clearly holding Prosise
Ramsey clearly holding Prosise
Or fighting to get outside as he is allowed to do since Prosise came off the line blocking...
I don't think a last second loss diminishes that at all.
End zone view - ( New Window )
It was a close play, could have went either way, but FSU talked the refs into that one, which is complete bullshit. They warned them, then their players went all Hollywood as soon as they seen the formation.

And for people saying ND isn't ready for primetime? Um, yes they are. They're very, very good.

If Golson stays, they'll be a top 5 team.

I think they likely drop one more game, either to Arizona State or USC. They'll finish the regular season 10-2.
But as Mook said, they're very young & will be only better next season. ND is back. I just hope Kelly doesn't bolt to the NFL.
Here are the jobs that have a shot to be available in the off-season
Bills
Jets
Raiders
Atlanta
Miami
Wow, is this a hostile thread.
You have to admit that it is called only rarely in the NFL and when a rare penalty is called to determine the outcome of a great game like that you have to question it.
If the official thought that that penalty prevented the defense from having a good shot at changing the outcome of the play, then I'm for it. If he called the penalty just because he saw an illegal action, knowing that the penalty would not have affected the play and without also considering that his flag would decide the game, he should not have thrown the flag.
It's like not calling pass interference, even though the DB clearly interfered, because the ball was uncatchable.
You know, in the big games, let them play.

No one on FSU was ever attempting to cover Robinson. His defender never got picked because his defender never existed. Frustrating as shit.
