Fewell is an average coordinator and plays the hand he is dealt. The talent and speed on defense is lacking.
The entire defense is Rolle, JPP, Prince, DRC, and Hankins. So 5/11 players are good and the substitutes for the few good players don't merit mention.

seasons I go into games against quality opponents, concerned that the Giants defense won't be able to get off the field. For the most part my concerns have been turned out to be warranted.

Over the years the Giants give up more long 3rd down conversions than anyone? Why? The stupid soft zone scheme. Why because Fewell plays for the big int like he did in buffalo. Like he does here instead of pressing the QB. You don't have the fearsome foursome here.
His blitzers suck too. And the fatal flaw in any blitz is it relies on Romo to make the incorrect read and have written, Escobar, Bryant, Williams, and Murray covered one on one by the likes of beason, Mclain, fenner, etc...
On any blitz Romo can be assured that escobar, written, or Bryant are in a very favourable matchup.

I agree with you 100%. However, lets not pretend to believe that Gilbride really retired. We also know Coughlin would not fire his friend. So, this was Mara's one time where he steps in and forces a change.

That's a death sentence on many plays. Especially with a QB who can read a defense and any receiver back or tight end who can best man coverage. Essentially what you advocate is if a guy gets open and the QB hits him there is no one between him and the end zone.

Really??? Genius, why don't you and Perry get together and draw up another 3 or 4 man rush and play a zone coverage. It seem to work all of the the fucking time.

we could upgrade here - but it will have to wit until next year, but the difference last night was that the Cowboys made plays when they mattered. Prince had excellent coverage on Bryant a couple of times, but he just made plays. Escobar's second TD was a perfect throw placed in between the defenders.
Fewell has consistently failed to have success on 3rd down and that's my biggest complaint, but sometimes it isn't the coaching at all - but the lack of making plays - or the other team actually making them.
