!!!! If I can predict plays from watching the game on TV, then I think the Cowboys can figure it out as well, and I am no professional coach. Two draws to Hillis at the end of the first half? Are we trying to pad our running stats? Why call a TO with 3 seconds in the first half to give Hillis a draw play? Yea he's a gamebreaker!
Notice how dallas wins by hiring good
Coaches....garret wont be there next year
because OC will have job offers and he will
hire him and pay $$$$..
Jerry paid for big oline...
Do you want to pay eli $25 MIL to hand
off ball....
get some more average players and pay them
even though they are injured....
keep tc in charge....
fire KG. But keep his son....
let Pope go so he can help build oline blocking
Dallas. Finally they seem comfortable with their coaches changes. They also should get props for going OL in the first round 3 times. Now they have thatbOL for Romo. Their RB had talent but is injury prone. Now he is healthy for now and behind that OL isn't doing good things.
They have a HOF TE and very good X. That's a lot of damn things on offense going your way.
Defense I am impressed that they r getting production out of no name players. Maybe it fails? Let's see how things go when more and more tape comes out. I am not impressed with them overall but to get so much out of no name guys is admirable.
Props to them.
We have a ways to go in terms of talent everywhere. That's going to be on Reese and Ross. Maybe for once we can fix this OL. Add a lot more weapons on offense. Defensively , add more talent as well.
ability to stop the run was unexpected to me. They did a good job.
Our Oline can get away with providing a tiny crease when Jennings is playing. Williams needs a small hole. Our Oline wasn't able to do that except maybe 2-3 times today.
Imagine how freegin' great our offense would be if we had the Cowboy's Oline?
problem is the lack of team speed on offense and defense, at RB, WR, TE, LB, and S. This problem has existed for years. It's on Reese.
Play calling was unreal. Had to know that Dallas would gang up to stop the run, given our lack of speed at WR and TE, and our marginal OL. So we played right into what they expected, and did so not even with a speed back, but a smash mouth runner who needs a hole to get to the second level to do damage. And we kept doing it, apparently to try and "establish the run." Stupid.
The OL was very bad. Didn't see anyone who played well. Just awful.
On defense, no pressure, and no speed at LB and S killed us.
We also made a shit ton of mistakes.
Agree with the ridiculous insistence on one-yard runs with a cloud of smoke. The opening "drive": 3 one-yard runs into the middle of the Cowboys' defensive line. McAdoo and TC would rather be balanced than score points?
Also, Fewell's bend-and-snap defense was on full display. Get them to third down and rush 3 or maybe 4. The defense was gassed by the 4th quarter.
First, the positives..
The WRs are actually not letting us down as we thought. They are not the problem right now. We got a turnover and actually scored on it. Thank God for the short field. Special teams did not hurt us today and in fact we had one or two nice kick returns. Oh, and we did not get blown out today.
Now for the harsh realities..
O-line is exactly what some of us thought they were before the season began. Richburg is playing well. That's it. Pugh regressed. We cannot run for shit right now even if we had Jennings. I am watching the O-line get pushed backwards, miss guys completely, etc. The number of pre-snap penalties is incredible.
Our defense is still a huge problem for the third year in a row. We got the ball shoved down our throats in the first half, then up our ass in the second. Murray had 100 yards just one minute into the third. After the first quarter, we could not stop them unless they stopped themselves. We get zero pressure on Romo and definitely not on third down when we really need it. Missed tackles constantly. It has become epidemic.
I agree with some of you about the run plays. I am all for running the ball. However, when we can't then why continue to bang your head against that wall? Spread the field and pass until they soften the middle, then run. Throw a few more screen passes too. It was invented years ago.
Eli played well enough to where our losing was not his fault. It was neither a good game or a bad game. However, he left a lot of throws out there that he would like to have back. A few drive killers.
Coaching - WTF? Coughlin...for a discipline guy your team sure as hell is not playing that way. Not saying that I want you gone. BUT you need to fix this shit immediately. The mental mistakes are incredible. Fewell is clueless. Just let Beason call the defense when he comes back. Can't be any worse and he probably has a better feel for it than Fewell.
Can this team get into the playoffs? Sure, we are still in it. However, we are not playing like a playoff team. We do not appear to be mentally tough right now either.
Donnell is our offensive MVP so far this year so I am not getting on him. We probably do not have two of our wins without him. That fumble shit needs to end today and Coughlin better not bench him over it. Not yet anyway.
Reese - These players are playing you right out of a job. You are just lucky to work for a very loyal organization. I am done watching our team with our small corners that are physically mis-matched, our sub par O -line, our one LB we can count on, our under achieving D-line.
But if the defense doesn't learn how to play during the bye and Donnell can't remember how to hold on to the ball, then it will be in short order.
Play-calling by OC and DC can nullify any talent the Giants have. How many one-yard runs did McAdoo call? I thought he was bringing in this "West Coast" offense that would be an aggressive, pass-happy approach. I didn't see it. Also, Fewell is afraid of pressuring the QB. He gave Romo forever to stand back and wait until someone got open.

I thought some of the play-calling was very suspect, but in Fewell's defense, it doesn't matter whether he sends the blitz or not. The d-line got no pressure on Romo and the blitzes didn't get home so I'm not sure what else Fewell can do. I am sick of the soft zone shit though. If you're dropping eight (!) into coverage, there shouldn't be any openings.
2 second rd and a 1sr rounder on the OL. It's not like they've neglected it. Pugh clearly is injured and Jerry is not started material. I'm not high on Walton. Either
i am not asking that we bring back Gilbride. He needed to go a few years ago. But it truly seems like amateur hour on offense. How many times is Manning moving someone in the backfield to the other side of him? How many times when we see Hillis or Williams in the game do they hand it to one of them? Then when we need to score co tinge to throw 7 yard passes.
The end of both halves we almost like we need to get some fantasy stats because we know we won't score. Let's hand it off 65 yards from the end zone and then call timeout so we can hand it off again? WTF was that? Then down by 10 I don't expect us to score or win but how about trying. 48 seconds left and we dump it for a 7 yard pass. Then run it again and fumble. What was the point? How about rolling out and throwing a bomb. Maybe catch it or get a penalty. Kick a FG and then onside kick.
Plus 13 penalties in the last 2 games. Every time they take a step forward and have 3rd and short false start or holding. And that is when they are not giving up sacks or fumbling the ball away.
Can anyone sit here and say Eli is playing terrible? No. The play calling though is killing me.
are not a good football team, and will continue to be a bad team until Jerry Reese realizers that you have to draft OL early. Until then, we will continue to suck. We will be lucky to win six games this year. And, by the way, Will Beatty is not good! Needs to be replaced. With six wins, we may have an opportunity to replace him.
2 second rd and a 1sr rounder on the OL. It's not like they've neglected it. Pugh clearly is injured and Jerry is not started material. I'm not high on Walton. Either
But Richburg is a center yet is playing Guard. He's out of position.
Bye week comes at a good time. We have several key players that need to heal up. I think getting Schwartz back could be a real boost to the O-line. We obviously miss Jennings. Williams has been ok for a rookie. OBJ is the goods. Cox has been real solid taking a knee on kicks and even brought one back into + territory today. O's gonna get better and they'll get a few more wins even with Cruz lost for the season.
The defense is a real problem. I've been calling for Fewell to be fired for years. He's done not one thing this season to convince me that he's a serviceable DC. I get the whole thing about the players needing to make plays, and like every team in the NFL, we've got some guys nicked up, but Fewell's just not able to put the guys he has into situations where they are effective. That's the coaches job - put in game plans that expose opponents weakness and put your players into position to make plays. Fewell doesn't have the 86 Bears personal out there, but if he did, he'd probably drop them into soft zone cover 2 schemes.
People want to ignore it and use the 2 SB wins as a lifetime pass, but this team is so poorly prepared anymore and shows utter lack of discipline and understanding/communication.
Coughlin took far less talented JAX teams into the playoffs but they went in because they played smart, tough, football. These teams lately play scared, selfishly, cluelessly.
Also, the front office deserves a ton of blame for the OL and front 7 of the defense. They shouldnt escape scot-free either.
As Eric pointed out not one incomplete pass by Romo in second half. Not One!!!!! Our corners are Prince and DRC which happen to each be better than anyone on the Dallas roster. I've been saying it for a year now. Every time we play a decent QB we give up 30+ points. Plays more zone than anyone in the league. Cowboys played man all day and they have Scandrick playing CB...enough said!
First of all, I happen to think there is enough talent on the D to play well. Is this a top 5 D? No. But, it isn't bottom 5 in terms of talent as some here seem to think. they have a talented DL, but consistently fail to get pressure because they consistently rush just 3 or 4 and do so in a very vanilla way. Their blitzes are never disguised or timed well. Every year there are a ton of communication problems in the secondary, regardless of personnel. We continue to play too much zone, and very soft zones at that. We continue to allow teams off the hook on 3rd and long. We continue to allow those back breaker drives when we absolutely need a stop and/or a stop essentially wins the game.
Personally, I felt he should have been fired 2 years ago.
Besides another week of our D just getting abused Â
1) Why the Hell is a kickoff being run out from 8 yards deep in the end zone?
2) I respect trying to establish the run and the need to not completely abandon the run. But, for at some point you have to say fuck it. You can't can't keep running on both first and second down, with the D stacked in the box and leave yourselves with 3rd and 7, 8, 9, or worse. How about using that WCO short passing style to set up the run, like it is effective at doing?
3) Why bother to call a timeout before the half to run the ball with Hillis?
4) On every 3rd and more than 10 are we seriously going to just run a draw?
5) On the Cowboys 1st TD, you can clearly see JPPs jersey being held. But, that said, it was a a fairly evenly and well called game.
Play calling , and lack of play action, is a real mystery....this offense has more potential than it is showing....
The Giant defense can't stop a good passing offense.....I don't think they will have much "Luck" in their next game....
This team is what it is.....next year, tough decisions have to be made.......there are too many starters on this team that couldn't start for other teams....
which is probably worth as much…
The problem really is with the D. They cannot field a consistent pass rush, with the starting four.
Like two different teams out there at times. Give Romo time and forget it, he will kill you.
On O, I can't figure out the run run run when the run is obviously not working, didn't work since the first half and the pass is.
But really Eli brought them back within 7, if the D held I have no doubt he with the ball back ties it up, and likely continues on for a win.
But the D didn't hold, not a bit.
Maybe next year barring some significant play call differences on D I see no hope for this season. JPP is great at times but he is hot and cold and seems like he is the only one out there at times. The secondary has to much pressure if they have to much time to deal with. A nil receiver will get open if he has time it can't be helped. But the pressure is sometimes there and at times it is like they are just standing around.
Watching this team shoot themselves in the foot (or up to the kneecap) Â
for 3 hours is not fun. While some want to focus on Jerry Reese, there's a real problem in terms of the preparation and game day execution with this football team. The turnovers, penalties, and mental mistakes are on the coaching staff.
- People gave TC all the credit for stopping Tiki Barber's fumbling problems. Meanwhile the Giants have fumbled NON-STOP for 8 years since Tiki retired.
- Perry Fewell needs to be fired during this bye week. I cannot stand the mind-numbing stupidity of a defense that treats the opponents' stars like they're average players undeserving of extra attention. Why on Earth should a practice squad player be covering Dez Bryant just because he's in the slot??????? The same dumb shit happened week 1 with Calvin Johnson being covered by a LB just because he was in the slot. Last week they dared the Eagles to beat them with LeSean McCoy. In 2011, they let the 49ers only pass option (Davis) catch long TDs in the conference championship. Plus, I cannot take anymore of guys looking at each other after another opponent is allowed to run free through the secondary. Jason Witten caught a 3rd down pass between 2 Giants who were covering NO ONE in a zone defense.
- The offensive line is maddening. 3 different idiots made pre-snap infractions and they couldn't run with just 6 Cowboys in the box. Beatty took the mantle from Justin Pugh for worst offensive line performance of the last 9,000 years.
- The Giants were great at preventing long runs in 2013 with Will Hill and Rolle. Now they suck at it again.
- I just can't anymore with Rueben Randle.
Despite a few costly bad throws, I thought Eli played well. ODB was whipping Carr's ass. It would be nice to take a few chances deep with him.
I think the defense had too much say in what plays we run. I think they present a front knowing what we will check into and hope that we do it. I think that it's a well known secret as it were that you can make the giants offense change into advantageous looks for the defense. The giants should have tin pass options out of the same exact alignment do the font waste time moving to another look.
This loss was frustrating because they went away from what worked and never went back.

why do you need balance...I wish reporters
would ask questions. Like we do...
It was feeling that way to me when I was watching the starters in Aug and early Sept
ride him out of town
we played so conservative . .took our time like
we we winning...its like tc wanted to lose
Rewind to college - there are no LB's
The Giants are not losing because of LB's. They make mistakes that they can not overcome
They took a 14-7 lead and 3rd & 6 Romo completes to Bryant, 3rd and 9 Romo completes to Witten (soft zone). TD - WR gets lost in end zone
Game tied: Giants have 1st & 10 on Dallas 35 (Run, penalty, run)
Dallas 3rd and 6 at own 11 - 44 yard to Dez (mystery zone coverage)
Romo TD to go up 21-14 Bowman on coverage
next Giants possession have 1st & 10 at Dallas 40 - penalty on 1st down and run on 1st and 20
After the fumble, Dallas - 3rd & 8 to Bryant - game over
Anyone see Rolle today
This team usually underachieves when facing a decent offense. Today was no exception.
Our Oline can get away with providing a tiny crease when Jennings is playing. Williams needs a small hole. Our Oline wasn't able to do that except maybe 2-3 times today.

I'd have sent an extra 2 guys to blitz Romo on every passing down. Result would be either you whack 'em or he completes another pass.
They have issues at just about every position. At the positions they solidified during the off season they have suffered debilitating injuries.
This season is going to be up and down. It is going to be good and bad.
They'll be better, just not this year.
Thats it in a nutshell.

Jeez, really?
Dallas LG is a 7th rd pick, the starting RT today was undrafted, Free is a 4th and their other G was undrafted
Without Jennings they do not have a RB to stretch the field. Dallas sold out for the middle.
When you lose Wilson and then lose Jennings, you lose your quickness at RB

If the team that knows the player best does not want to keep him, then he is not worth his price.
If you disagree then why don't we draft the OL players and get the WRs on the free market?
Also if you disagree, then we does our OL suck year after year?

It goes both ways with drafts. The only way to get a top LT is generally get in the top 10 for a draft pick. It is not going to happen
