this return of old school running and really stressing the oline and running the ball has obviously really worked for them. They are very different than any NFL team....and really look alot like the Cowboys of the 90's...its uncanny. Aikmam-Romo Murray-E. Smith and Bryan-Irvin.
And even on Defense...they play team Defense and aren't really buying into the philosophy of current NFL trends which say its about rushing the passer and having coverage players. This team doesn't have 1 good pass rusher or 1 shut down corner....and they are winning.
The question is ...will it last? Will NFL teams really start to figure out what they are doing?
We should have opened it up early and did exactly what we did late in the 4th and forced them to back off a little bit and soften up the run defense.
They've had trouble stopping the run this year and we made it nice and easy for them today.

Yes, we got out coached once again.

We were too hell bent on establishing the run and that's exactly what they weren't giving us.

Coughlin demands we force feed the run. MaCAdoo comes from a philosophy of opening the run up with the pass which isn't happening cause Coughlin the handcuffs on him. It's fristrating as hell.
While the rules clearly favor the passing game, the teams who are able to play ball control best have still been contenders in the end.
When the Giants are trying to keep running, they aren't doing it to be stubborn - they know doing otherwise will get Eli killed or cause a bunch of turnovers.

Yeah, but at some point in the game, you have to go with, what's working. The Cowboys couldn't stop the pass yesterday. And yet, the Giants kept running. 1st and 18 run. 2nd and 18 run. 3rd and 18 pass. The Giants loss yesterday. But exposed the Cowboys, in a way. You take away all the dumb ass penalties, and fumbles. And the Cowboys don't win these game. Yeah, they're playing better than the Giants right now. But if the Giants were as healthy as the Cowboys, they don't lose this game.
The pass game was working, but it was also working because the possibility of a run kept Dallas "honest". I don't know many teams who can consistently win by ignoring the running game.
As a side note, I keep hearing how we should be more like the Packers and pass it as much as they do, but their numbers are only something like 3% more towards passing in terms of passing ratio than ours.
Our perception is pretty skewed.
