Re-aggravated his toe injury today, who knows if we'll see him the rest of the year. Next year he has a cap number of nearly 7 million, 3.5 of it is dead money if you cut him I believe. It's hard to justify keeping a guy who isn't that great to begin with and is constantly injured. I'd like to upgrade the position in the off-season and cut ties
I'm stunned at how bad Williams has been. We have Kennard but it will probably be next year when he really arrives.
His contract is beginning to look like a mini version of what we did with Beatty. Overpaid for a player because we had no alternative at the position. I was wrong to criticize Reese for giving up a lowly seventh round pick for Beason, but the contract may have been a mistake.
Reese deserves some blame for him too, even if he checked out. The guy's been injured most of his career, it made no sense to sign a check like that regardless of what the medical staff said.
Rolle's contract is very expensive too and 2014 is the final year. I think he either accepts a pay cut or is gone next year.
Savings by cutting him is $3.5 million.
Eric, what is your take on how Nicks was handled after the TB game that marked the end of his career as an elite player?
Just from the outside it seems they let him play through stuff that he never ended up recovering from. Now I don't have any idea if he would have recovered had they shut him down, but I don't remember anyone at the time thinking his injury was potentially career altering.
BTW, don't you love the way TC always refers to "the medical people"? Like he might as well call them "untouchables."
This D seriously needs some retoolings, as wellas our OL. Dallas has shown how it's done in this league with a stud OL.
Easy Eric! You might get run off your own board.
Btw, I agree with you. I just hope the masses who swear by the coaches and Drs are always right crowd quit being so close minded.
Exhibit B: OBJ
Exhibit C: Beason
There was someone else, but I forgot who it was...
