The Giants are likely to have Jennings and Schwartz back after the bye. At this stage of his career Jennings is a much better player than Williams and his ability in the pass game as a receiver and blocker makes the Giants offense more versatile. Schwartz didn't play well in preseason, but hopefully he'll go to his more natural RG spot and he should (please?) be an upgrade over Jerry. Pugh's elbow issue seems to have affected his play the last few weeks and with rest he might improve.
So the run game, which we know under Coughlin will be used heavily regardless success or failure, should be much improved after the bye.
I really miss seeing how Wilson would do in this system. Unwanted to see him catching the ball, turning and running upfield. It seems all our backs aren't going to beat you by hitting home runs. I would have loved to see Wilson develop. He was still so young too. Getting zero return on our investment for a first round pick hurts a lot.
Gaskins was a similar back as well. They could have drafted or signed a true change of pace back but didn't.
Williams was 4th round for a reason and would have been very useful behind Jennings as a power back when they knew we were going to run (3rd and short).
Beckham will be used more (and defended against which isn't bad for the other WRs) and our immature TEs are getting better and better under McA's schemes.
The D is stressed with injuries; hopefully they will be on the upswing.
Signed, Little Mary Sunshine.
Just too many mistakes, and not enough healthy players....a bye is not going to change anything......Maybe Schwartz for Jerry helps the OL.......But how long will Beason, DRC, Jennings, etc. be able to play the rest of the year? They will probably be week to week....
One thing this team could not afford is injuries, especially to key starters, because this team has no depth, just substitutes, or should I say bodies?
He completed 21/33 for 250 yds, 3 TDs, 0 Ints, 116 QBR
Thats about as good as it gets. I'll take that every week.
We do have the coaching staff, Matt. We are coming out of the bi and going on a run. Bank on it. The Giants are figuring out who they are. We have talent.

And in another thread I created a month ago, signing LaMichael James might soften that blow...he himself was a 2nd rounder in that same draft, just as fast, not as physical, but possibly a better receiver. I just don't know why we can't give him a try. No risk-High reward. But no, we don't need speed on the team.
To me, it's redundant to have Williams and Hillis. Slow and Slower. How's that for change of pace? To me, Hillis offers no value. Supposedly, he has ok hands, but couldn't bring in a few passes today. Very Brandon Jacobs-like hands.
Sproles was available in Free Agency? Naw. We don't need him. We don't like speed. We like team captains. Let's let our division rival have him in the perfect offense tailor-made for his skill set. He won't give us any problems.
beat indy and we are 500.
Overall, the running game has set up the pass pretty well. Over the last five games, Eli has thrown eleven touchdown passes, and only one controversial interception that could just as easily have been a TD. (He has also gotten away with a couple of ugly throws that should have been picked.) Other than the Philly disaster, his jersey has remained mostly clean. Obviously, the balanced attack works much better with a healthy Jennings, for various reasons, and it's fair to question the commitment to the run in the past two games. It does serve a purpose though.

Agree 100%. People here were saying Wilson wasn't going to be a big loss, because he never did anything given his playing time, but he appeared to be coming on and had that speed and elusiveness that defenses had to always honor. Additionally, he was great on KR and would have been an asset there too.
Even if the Eagles, Lions or Cowboys have epic collapses in the second half of the season, the Giants would still have to fight off the Seahawks, 49ers, and Bears for the wildcard spot - and the Giants haven't shown anything close to having the ability to win 7 out of the last 9 to get to the 10 wins that would translate to a playoff berth.
You don't get absolutely destroyed by the Eagles, then show up the following week and play like they did yesterday and expect to be taken seriously as a contender. Next 4 games > Colts, Seahawks, 49ers, Cowboys. I'll keep watching and rooting for the team and hope to see progress, but its over for 2014.
