Next year is going to be pretty awesome

Hammer : 10/20/2014 6:56 am
One whole year for the O & D lines to coalesce, one whole year for Beckham to mature, another year of free agent pickup,a chance to draft another impact skill player (hopefully a running back or wide out) and an opportunity for Cruz to heal.

I'm stoked.
Me too

I was just wondering how many of the whiners here are the same people who last year said that this mess cannot be fixed in one year. It can't.
3-3 was a much
GMENGianni : 10/20/2014 7:33 am : link
better start then 0-6, so obviously an improvement.
TC, Reese and co the rest of this year
aquidneck : 10/20/2014 7:35 am : link
Damn shame about the injuries, but everyone in the NFL deals with them and they still have the rest of the year to figure it out.

In the meantime TC's super bowl legacy deserves to be respected. Keep the "fire Coughlin, fire Reese chants to yourself please until after the season.

It's never about next year. It's always about this year and anything less than 9-7 will affirm a steady 4 year backslide and be ample reason to get rid of the coaching and management team.
one whole year wont fix Beatty...

Or Fewell, or the horrible defensive schemes. Nor does it guarantee that our draft pick produces or that our OL will all of a sudden go from garbage to good.

I am glad that you are excited, though.
the rest of the season will look better
newmike2 : 10/20/2014 7:46 am : link
if they give ol Perry the heave ho and get a real DC because his horrible schemes are why this defense can't stop anything and get off the field on 3rd down. The players have changed but the results are the same.
Next season will look better when they have Tom Coughlin Day before the first home game in September.

Eh, I don't read much into that. 0-6 was an abberration. They weren't that bad. Everything that could go wrong had to go wrong for that to happen...and it did.

I hear you. They do have some nice young players to get excited about. However, with all due respects, somehow I don't think the results we are seeing up to this point is what John Mara had in mind when he said the offense is broken and went out and signed McAdoo and then spent a boat load of money on a boat load of free agents on both sides of the ball all with plenty of NFL experience.

I will say this. I am stoked at the possibility of replacing Perry Fewell. I cannot imagine he will be back next year. I don't see how it is possible. His defenses fall into the same traps game in and game out. Third and long no problem. Just rush three and give the QB all day long to find someone open. Blown assignments all over the defense. It's his job to correct them and the same mistakes are constantly made.
We played the hottest team
Tittle 9 20 64 : 10/20/2014 7:54 am : link
In the league in their house, with presumably the best OL and running back, and we played them tough. Possibly a turnover away from winning the game. We are without are best running back, wide receiver, and linebacker. We are a good team, not a great team. There is plenty to look forward to in our future.
Regarding the criticism, the one thing I agree with
Ira : 10/20/2014 8:04 am : link
is the need to replace Fewell. He's not a terrible dc, but we can do better.
Very impressed with what Rod Marinelli

has done with the Dallas defense. That would have been a great hire.

Super bowl!
NY Blue : 10/20/2014 8:47 am : link
We win Super Bowls on major anniversary date (21, 25) in four year spans, (86-90, 07-11), I. Doubling pervious Super Bowls 21-42. The next would be Super Bowl 50 - major anniversary date (50) and double of pervious 25-50

Book it
Agree with you Hammer

Have a lot of good young players to be excited about. The rebuilding of the team definitely going in the right direction. Last two drafts have been good. I was one of those who wanted Donald but not complaining. OBJ is really going to be special!
Talk to me in late December
djm : 10/20/2014 11:56 am : link
I want to see the full story on this season before i reach any conclusions on this franchise going forward. No big plays on offense and a defense that can't stop good talent has me concerned, especially the D. The O doesn't look too bad.
They need to improve the O-Line
moespree : 10/20/2014 12:09 pm : link
An obvious statement, but an obvious problem. If they can have even an average improvement on the line I do think there is a core group of players good enough to make the playoffs. I still wouldn't rule that out this season either, but it's not going to be easy. An average improvement of the O-line in 2015...better. Somehow luck into a drastic improvement of the O-Line in 2015...they'll be very good.
too bad

we cant get a fourth place schedlue. I guess a third place schedule would get us a playoff spot next seasson.

I agree with this for the most part. The D certainly wasn't spectactular, but I felt good going into halftime having held Dallas to 14 with the Giants getting the ball back to start the half.

The defense was playing good enough to win the game all the way up to the Donnell fumble, then everything just unraveled from there.

The problem was that the Giants offense spent most of the first 3 quarters trying to establish a run and maintain balance that they didn't seem to display the typical level of urgency you would normally see playing against a team that can rack up points in a hurry.
