would like to see hillis start over williams if jennings needs to miss another game. not as many negative yardage plays and williams is better in a change up back capacity.
watching Hillis is like watching a defensive tackle play RB
The Giants run game is pathetic whether he starts or Williams starts. At least with Hillis you can do more with the packages and realize who to pick up in the blitz.
when your offensive line is getting dominated virtually every down. The problem with the running game is that our offensive line can not open a hole, and our staff is determined to run the ball no matter how many are stuffed at the line of scrimmage for no gain.
Hillis does suck, but he is not even the beginning of the problem.
They lost their starting two running backs in Wilson & Jennings
That first series was not a very promising omen of things to come.
The Giants are one of only a few teams who have yet to score on their opening drive, and yesterday it seemed like that might actually be part of the gameplan.
Jennings is out. What i do have a problem with is calling a timeout before the half and then handing it to Hillis when it is guaranteed to be the final play. If you aren't taking a shot deep then don't call the timeout.
because he got two carries at the end of the half when Dallas was playing way back in case of a hail mary pass and he got some easy yardage. He's awful.
No. Guys like Bryce Brown, Tre Mason, Antone Smith, and Branden Oliver are very serviceable 3rd RB's. Hillis is just too slow to do much of anything with the ball in his hands.
But, I don't think there is a need to or that it would be fair. To say he doesn't belong on a roster, I think, is a gross misstatement. He is serviceable, holds onto the ball, makes the correct reads in blocking assignments and blocks well, will surprise you just enough running the ball, and has good hands. He was not amazing last year, but the effort and attitude he played with made an impact in a couple of those games. He picked up some nice yardage almost completely on his own.
By no means would I want him getting 20+ touches a game. But, I do think he is a decent security blanket to have on this team and is good for short yardage situations as well.
Jim Brown would have issues running behind this line.
I'm not expecting much out of the 3rd string and lower players on the roster, but if you can't beat me in a foot race, you shouldn't be on the roster at any level of an NFL team.
6 carries got him 4.8 ypc. That's a lot better than 2.8 ypc for Williams.
I mean really, do you guys watch the game? Hillis got most of that average based on two garbage time runs.......almost half.
Watch the game with your eyes, not on the stat sheet........
I watched the game with my own eys and saw clear as fucking day he had more success runnign the ball than williams did, who got stuffed in the fucking backfield every other play.Seriously. How do you call out hillis and not williams? Give me a break.

19 of the 29 yards gained by Hillis in the game came on the final two plays before the half. Essentially "clock runners."
If you took those away, Hillis would have finished with 4 carries for 10 yards.
If a pig were a horse you could ride it out of town
but it's not so we are stuck with you, and reality, instead of wishes and buts.Shit, lets pretend the Cowboys weren't on the field for Williams top 2 runs.Or we could just ,mention the fact that HALF of Williams 18 rushing attempts went for 1 yard or less. That's a damn sight uglier than juggling Hillis stats to come up with 2.5
Half of Williams runs didn't even reach that lofty mark.
Andre Williams can't block and runs the ball poorly.

So basically we are arguing who sucks less.
Great.
honestly the O-line could make either of them look bad
, or good, depending on how they block. I think both Hillis and Williams could get the job done were the OL up to snuff.Neither is good enough to carry a team if the line isn't blocking. Jennings was a cut above the both of them.
It's true williams has a higher ceiling, but as far as actual gameday performance right now, williams is no bargain over Hillis.Over the long term Williams will hold up better.I don't think you could get more than 4-6 games out of Hillis before he broke down.Yeah he's slow. He also always makes psoitive yardage, can block, can catch and knows his assignments, and is less likely to cough it up.Williams is younger Bigger and stronger and faster. He'll be good one day, that's if he ever develops the vision Hillis has.Right now as it stands he's no upgrade to Hillis in my view.I rather kinda like them both.Hillis is OK for a 3rd string or 3rd down back.

I can understand being conservative, but using Hillis on a third and long run play has 0% chance of working.
