JPP played like a crazed animal two years ago. All that did was get him hurt because he gave it 110%. It appears to me that he has "dialed it back" to prevent any substantial risk of further injury. If this is the "new" JPP, I hope they let him walk at the end of the year. The dude can still be a presence on the field, but he seems to be a shell of his former self. I'd like some comments on this observation.
It surprises me to hear you say that. How come ?
Hankins was awesome, I thought, when he wasn't in there, and without Jenkins, we were soft.
But Kiwi...c'mon man! Either he won't show up or he just can't anymore. A very disappointing player.
Maybe I was spoiled by Osi, but I would like my RE to be going after the passer every play. Not pick and choose when he wants to go all out, or just back up and get a bat down.
Which is worth the money?
Love all the pontificating on bbi last night and today with absolutely no clue or ideas on how to fix the problems and move forward. Typical.
This is the correct answer. Also, JPP played very well yesterday. He's had a good season but the stats don't show it. I'd like to have him back at a reasonable price. I'm not too sure that another team would give him a monster deal.
they work out a new contract
There is good reason, based on experience, not to trust him with a cornerstone contract.

Typical you. A person asks a question and you go bezerk. Regardless of your emotions, the question is legit going into the offseason with both JPP and Suh headed towards the open market. Looking for a full blown solution without answering the question indiactes you yourself have no idea what to do.
There's just so much unknown outside of the games we watch each weekend. And if you came away from this game thinking JPP sucks, then you should probably stop watching football.
As for the stuff in my first paragraph, its beyond any of us which is why I don't bother arguing on those scenarios. No one knows and you are lying if you say you do. All of which, however, will effect contract talks.

Ok. So what do they do instead? Because their depth at that position sucks ass.

You're one of the worst posters this site has ever seen. And that's just fact pal. Feel free to ask around. Hell, start a thread about it and see what happens.
You resign JPP at a responsible level. If he is looking for Watt-level money or close you walk. And the Giants aren't going to open up the checkbook for a guy like Suh. Historically, theyve never done it and from a character standpoint he doesn't fit either. They'll look DE in the draft again and hope another year of Moore will pay dividends in 2015. I fully expect Fewell fine next year bringing a new dynamic to the defense as well.

Clap Clap - that's how you answer a question. Save the rest of the worthless blah blah about your perceptions of me
His sack number is down, but he's still rushing the QB often enough. His run defense is solid as well.
I wouldn't break the bank for him, but he's a priority IMO.
As much as I love Kiwi, and like how Ayers has been a pleasant surprise... JPP needs more rush support. Watt is one of those guys who take over games, but having (a healthy) Clowney could make his career an epic one.
That being said, if JPP wants Watt $$$, he won't get it from the Giants, and then they'll really have no pass rush.
Need to keep him, wouldn't give him JD Watt money, but I'd pay him as a top flight DE. He's a good player, he's one of the few players on the team opposing teams need to game plan for.
I'd play him more at LDE as the season goes on and give Moore more reps at RDE. Kiwanuka is strictly a reserve at this point.
He had 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss yesterday and gets held all the time. He is great against the run as well.
JPP may not be putting up the sacks he had in 2011, but he is back to playing at that level.
JPP is priority number 1 in the offseason and must be re-signed. I don't think he will get a huge contract, but he will be paid very well.
Give me that for 16 games and then give him his money.
He was outstanding in that game against an elite LT. Several impact plays vs pass and run.
Why should (and will) they resign JPP?
1. He's only 25!
2. He is one of the best front 7 run defenders in the NFL. He's a beast in this part of the game. For an example of this watch how he handled Smith on runs to his side. And then watch the first 2 plays of the last DAL series. Nobody is better vs the run at his position.
3. He's has tools to be a top pass rusher for many more years and these guys are not easy to find. The moves yesterday where he dips inside and then a strong outside rush we don't see enough of. He needs to do this a lot more because that is a very impressive move.
He has not developed new moves. At times he seems to stop the pass rush and look to knock down a pass way to early in the play. I'd like this to change and the coaches to answer for this.
I like they had him standing up on the RT yesterday. Lets see more of this. And move him inside over the C/G on occasion for a matchup advantage. He has excellent lateral quickness and length to make a strong inside pass rush.
JPP has stepped up this year. Letting him walk would be a huge mistake. They need to sign him and build around him.
Right now defense is keying on him , since Kiwi is a shadow of his former average self.
wtf game were you watching?
we got no DT push... no LDE push... and he still got the only pressure and held up his end in terms of the run game.
he also got held all game.
I have no idea what you expect from him when the rest of the DL is horrible.
now I would NOT give him a huge contract but I would certainly view him as our best defender --- which is not something you just discard given how talent empty our squad is.
PFF had Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul with a +7.9 grade.
On their grading system, that's an off-the-charts mark. This is the second time this season Pierre-Paul has posted a grade in that range. He received a +9.1 in the Giants' Week 5 win over Atlanta and is the second-ranked 4-3 defensive end this season.
He's top 5 at his position with upside. Teams will line up to sign him if he keeps playing like he has all year.
Keep in mind, he was injured. He's healthier now. If the injury is not an issue the Giants would be crazy not to sign him for 5 more years.
JPP did save 7 points when Bryant beat Prince deep. He hit Romo. If he doesn't that's a TD.
