JPP played like a crazed animal two years ago. All that did was get him hurt because he gave it 110%. It appears to me that he has "dialed it back" to prevent any substantial risk of further injury. If this is the "new" JPP, I hope they let him walk at the end of the year. The dude can still be a presence on the field, but he seems to be a shell of his former self. I'd like some comments on this observation.
Give me that for 16 games and then give him his money.
He was outstanding in that game against an elite LT. Several impact plays vs pass and run.
Why should (and will) they resign JPP?
1. He's only 25!
2. He is one of the best front 7 run defenders in the NFL. He's a beast in this part of the game. For an example of this watch how he handled Smith on runs to his side. And then watch the first 2 plays of the last DAL series. Nobody is better vs the run at his position.
3. He's has tools to be a top pass rusher for many more years and these guys are not easy to find. The moves yesterday where he dips inside and then a strong outside rush we don't see enough of. He needs to do this a lot more because that is a very impressive move.
He has not developed new moves. At times he seems to stop the pass rush and look to knock down a pass way to early in the play. I'd like this to change and the coaches to answer for this.
I like they had him standing up on the RT yesterday. Lets see more of this. And move him inside over the C/G on occasion for a matchup advantage. He has excellent lateral quickness and length to make a strong inside pass rush.
JPP has stepped up this year. Letting him walk would be a huge mistake. They need to sign him and build around him.
Right now defense is keying on him , since Kiwi is a shadow of his former average self.
wtf game were you watching?
we got no DT push... no LDE push... and he still got the only pressure and held up his end in terms of the run game.
he also got held all game.
I have no idea what you expect from him when the rest of the DL is horrible.
now I would NOT give him a huge contract but I would certainly view him as our best defender --- which is not something you just discard given how talent empty our squad is.
PFF had Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul with a +7.9 grade.
On their grading system, that's an off-the-charts mark. This is the second time this season Pierre-Paul has posted a grade in that range. He received a +9.1 in the Giants' Week 5 win over Atlanta and is the second-ranked 4-3 defensive end this season.
He's top 5 at his position with upside. Teams will line up to sign him if he keeps playing like he has all year.
Keep in mind, he was injured. He's healthier now. If the injury is not an issue the Giants would be crazy not to sign him for 5 more years.
JPP did save 7 points when Bryant beat Prince deep. He hit Romo. If he doesn't that's a TD.
