We turned the ball over twice and kept shooting ourselves in the foot with dumb penalties and we still only lost by one TD playing in Dallas.
We got decent pressure on Romo even with JPP being mugged most plays. I really think the Division is up for grabs and if we pull our head out of our ass we could even make a run at the division.
They may be a good/great team, but I didn't get that impression from watching them yesterday.
I'm with ya JOrth! Let's get Jennings & DRC healthy and see what they can do
I would make them a SB contender...
they don't really have one, so I leave them as a good playoff team that can advance but defensively has too many holes.
they are impressive on offense and have a SB style game on that side of the ball.
and then tell me how you cannot be impressed with the their defensive coaching staff has done all season
Names are really irrelevant. No one is a "name" in the NFL until they are. Who was Cruz at one point? They are playing well, but again, I didn't walk away from the game in awe of them. We were right there with them in that game.
and then tell me how you cannot be impressed with the their defensive coaching staff has done all season
And their defense was predicted to be one of the worst in the league coming into this season. Their DC is really good. Never thought I'd see the day where anything about the Cowboys has been underrated, but..
The Giants are a middling team that still has a lot of holes? Fine.
The Cowboys are a dominant team that will win out most of the rest of the season? OK.
But how did that dominant team take that middling team, at home, and have to rely on a turnover in the 4th quarter as the difference maker?
Same Philly team took our middling team and kicked their asses up and down the field.
Not saying Dallas sucks, or that Philly's a lock or anything else - but that the early returns aren't anywhere near definitive at this point. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see either of those teams done in by a single non-QB injury, just like I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them run away with the division.

Exactly...You can't say we are an average team and prop them up based on yesterday.
I'm more impressed with Philly after playing both.

Using that rationale, because Philly whipped us at home, and Dallas didn't......that makes Philly better than Dallas.
You have to take into the account of ebb and flow of how the NFL schedule and season works.
We blew out the Texans, Dallas barely beat the Texans.....doesn't mean we beat the Dallas.
I came away impressed. That team can run on anybody. But when you start committing more in the box, they can throw those jump balls to Bryant and beat you over the top. And Romo still can extend a play.
Their defense is nothing impressive, but certainly created turnovers when they needed it.

I did mention that I think Philly is better than Dallas. We won't know for sure until they face up against one another, and sadly that isn't for awhile.
And the common opponent - the fact that we handled the Texans handily and the Cowboys struggled? I'm factoring in that as well, bearing in mind we had Cruz and they didn't have Foster for that game. All things I considered when I came to the conclusion that Dallas wasn't as good as I had originally expected (which again, isn't to say they're bad by any stretch).
I agree. Their D isn't dominant, but it is certainly good and better than last year. I still don't think it is a top D. But, their OL vastly improves their offense and the way they approach the game, which keeps their D off the field.
scares me, I won't lie. If Dallas were doing this same thing last year we would've known they weren't good enough to get past Seattle and San Fran anyway. The only solace I take is that the best team in October typically doesn't win it all. Seattle and Denver last year was a rarity nowadays.
Dallas has a good team and right now is one of the best teams in the NFC along with Philadelphia and Green Bay. That could all change with injuries and the like, but right now those seem to be the teams to beat.
The fact that they did not beat us by more than 10 does not mean they aren't very good.
With the Eagles plus the one with Indy will tell the tale. My bet: they win only one of those. I don't think Arizona brings enough to the party to be that kind of test. Are they good enough? Maybe enough to win the Division by an eyelash. After that, who knows? (Just my guess, of course. Stuff happens that can't be foreseen no matter how things stand at the moment.)
Very physical team with playmakers on offense. They keep coming at you. I could see them in the NFC championship game. The Dallas- Philly game will be a must see.
Bryant, Smith, Frederick and it looks like Martin are all studs - with Dez and Smith among the top 15 players in the league. They missed with Claiborne so saying they hit on 4 out of the last 5 doesn't really capture how good they are with 2 top players in the group.
...they beat us every which way but loose. Frankly, as much as I hate the cowboys...they look right now like the team to beat in the NFC and I'm glad its an NFC East team. I'd like to see the NFC East become dominant again as it once was.
The Cowboys looked very good. Good o-line, Murray, Bryant and their D played hard as well. The guy I was most impressed with was Romo. Bryant's 2nd half was Romo's doing. Bryant was blanketed on most plays by Prince but Romo put the ball exactly where it needed to be on some crucial plays.
offense has been very good in spots. But, Murray has yet to show he stay healthy for an entire season. Take him away and they drop a few notches.
RE: Romo - threw pick yesterday, bobbled a snap = almost fumble, and Giants had a shot at one or two more ints. Little less athletic due to the back injury. If Jenkins could have stayed in and got some pressure from the other side - could have been even closer game, possibly a win.
We couldn't cover Bryant - no one really can, best wr in the league in my opinion.
do these guys look like one of the best teams in the NFL?
I'd have to say no, but they haven't faced a real test yet it seems. They do look good, and if they can keep it up they can go far, but they sure as hell aren't some unstoppable juggernaut.
Of course, that might just be how the NFL is these days, with parity and the salary cap, maybe that's as close to unstoppable as you can get.
right now, with the emphasis on 'right now'. Murray is running at an unsustainable clip and will almost die by the end of the season. Their defense is also a smoke and mirrors job by Marinelli and eventually the lack of talent will be seriously exploited. We'll have a much better shot in the rematch; hopefully the Giants haven't quit on TC yet and aren't 3-7
That OL really might be good enough to carry them Â
to convince themselves that the Cowboys aren't good? They went into Seattle and beat the defending champs, they won 6 in a row and they beat us. Meanwhile, we're staring at 3-4, we can't run the ball to save our lives, and playoff hopes are fading fast.
Their defense tries hard, but isn't particularly good. I can understand people being annoyed yesterday because the game was there for the taking, but the Giants just shot themselves in the foot too many times. That doesn't mean that Dallas isn't good.

Miracles do happen, but the Giants aren't catching the lesser of Eagles/Cowboys and the Packers/Lions/Niners/Seahawks for a wild card spot. The NFC is very competitive this season, unlike the AFC where the 4-3 Bills and 3-2-1 Bengals are vying for the final spot.
we would have won, if we didn't fumble, or we didn't miss that tackle, or if we didn't have movement in the OL, or if we had covered that TE, etc, etc, etc...
The fact is, we did fumble, we did miss the tackle, we did move on 4th and one, we didn't cover their TE, because these are the mistakes we make week after week....this is not a team that can make up for mistakes it makes.....when you are a real good team you can.....but when you are not, you can't....

No, I just wasn't impressed. The big win they got last week, they streak they've been on and how they've been getting pumped up I thought we'd get destroyed. We went in there and hung in until the end despite a lot of dumb mistakes.
DeMarcus Lawrence has begun practicing with the team and should be ready to return in a couple of weeks. Josh Brent and Amobi Okoye should also join the team by week 10. If this happens their first game will be against NY. This should provide some additional depth to the DL and Dallas is hoping to improve their pass rush as well with the addition of these players.
In two weeks Dallas plays Arizona. By this time it's possible that Dallas could be 7-1 and Arizona 6-1, and the game would be for the #1 spot in the NFC. This game is scheduled for 1:00pm, but I believe it will be flexed to the 4:25pm slot.

Disagree, cjac. Neither one of those teams will want to play Rodgers in Green Bay in January.

Big Target receiver
Good Qb
Defense is solid
Maybe we'll get lucky and Dez Bryant will shoot himself
He's going to be a pain the ass for a while. Prince covered him reasonably well and he still catches balls.

Seattle on the road. Come on now.
and Dez Bryant is very talented
but there are not going anywhere this tear
The Giants were 11-1 merely 6 years ago (2008). Sigh… Then they fell apart and Plax shot himself.
Did they look "great" yesterday... no, but there really isnt a great or even a dominant team this season, at least so far.
