sure how you can say that. They have the best OL in the NFL and the NFL's best running game. They have the three-headed monster at the skill positions.
Can Murrary carry the load the entire season without wearing down
they will grind to a halt. Romo can't carry that team, and the defense is doing better because the offense is controlling the clock, we moved the ball on them pretty well when we weren't ramming it into the line every play
...their play-calling was good. Romo was deadly accurate. Bryan made great plays. Played very maturely when things weren't going his way in the first half. Murray is for real, he consistently got yards after contact and has great vision.
sure how you can say that. They have the best OL in the NFL and the NFL's best running game. They have the three-headed monster at the skill positions.
They need Free back in the worst way. I thoguht their backup really struggled. Smith also wasnt anything to write home about. Plus, their defense stinks.
They will be in a lot of games with the ball control/run game. However, if something happens like it did against SF, I worry about them coming back. Whenever a team becomes 1-dimensional with a bad defense.... they are most likely going to be exposed.
not if , but when demarco goes down

This was true in the past when Romo had to become Mr. Playmaker every other play. That Oline is keeping him clean. I think this is the year they can go far with or without a running game.

That the thing, they can come at you so many ways....you can't double and commit to all their weapons.
Again, if Romo doesn't get hurt and doesn't self destruct, they should win the NFC East.
Playoffs....now that's another matter.
Was anyone too impressed with that 9-7 Giants team?
was supposed to be "historically bad" when they lost Sean Lee and the Giants could barely run the ball.
and although they had no sacks (right?) it seemed Eli was under constant pressure.
The OL kept Romo clean for the most part and other times he kept himself clean with his pocket presence and mobility and the OL opened up huge lanes for Murray.
they are built for success in the NFL. Are they immune to injury? Of course not. If Bryant or Romo get hurt like has happened before (many times) who knows what happens, but that's a well balanced team.
2) Every time I tell myself Demarco Murray is overrated, he proves me wrong
3) their defense is better than I expected to start the year- they had someone in our backfield every time Williams got a hand-off (has something to do with our off. line)
And a heck of a run defense. Their Achilles heel will be their pass defense, but I think that counts for most teams in the league.
You must have been watching a different game if you didn't see how effective their O-line is both pass and run blocking, Romo's ability to buy time and find guys 4, 5 seconds into a play, and Bryant destroying Prince (although Prince did well there was no guarding Bryant in the second half... he was that good). Great third down conversion percentage. This is a dominant offense.
Right now. With philly and green bay right behind. I don't think anyone can argue that.
If the Giants were 6-1, running the ball like that, had that OL and had those weapons at the skill positions this entire board would be doing back flips every morning.
I don't think you guys are answering Vin's question
do these guys look like one of the best teams in the NFL?
I'd have to say no, but they haven't faced a real test yet it seems. They do look good, and if they can keep it up they can go far, but they sure as hell aren't some unstoppable juggernaut.
Of course, that might just be how the NFL is these days, with parity and the salary cap, maybe that's as close to unstoppable as you can get.

I'd say GB, along with AZ, Seattle and San Fran. Not Philly.
San Fran and Seattle didn't look good yesterday, but don't fall asleep on them. San Fran needs to get healthier and will (Denver is a tough matchup for anyone)
I can't put Philly in the mix simply because what is their weak link: the QB.
but could only imagine if Jennings was in the lineup
Can he leap over Dallas lineman? Cause that's what he would have needed to do with the blocking yesterday. But his receiving out of the backfield was missed.

I keep hearing people talk about the best teams in the NFC, and they're the ones most likely to be accidentally omitted from the list.
I also wouldn't discount GB's resurgence either. SF it would appear is cooked.
Personally - not sure if it's just how we played against them, but I think Philly is the sleeping giant in the division (and I hate Philly more than Dallas so it pains me to admit it). I would be surprised to see Dallas beat Philly, no matter how awful everyone says Philly's defense is.
It doesn't mean they'll win a playoff game, or the whole thing, but right now they're a very good team. They have a different vibe to them this season, including Garrett.

Beating Seattle, in Seattle, isn't at test?
Seattle lost to the Rams yesterday. It's possible (too early to tell) that Seattle's cooked this year, as is often the cast post-SB victory. The Harvin situation didn't help matters either (apparently that flared up towards the end of the Dallas game).
Dallas can win the whole thing this year, especially if Peyton chokes again.
Actually, this a good point about schedules and "who have you beaten".
There's a lot of slop in the NFL......not many teams week in, week out are playing a great opponent. A few fall that way (like us the next five weeks!) but not many.
It's like the other week when Seattle and Denver both had byes, the TV schedule was hideous.

jcn, I feel the same way. I think Philly is the team to beat in the divison. They impressed me a lot more than Dallas. Arizona is another team to watchout for
Dez with a huge 2nd half.
Murray another big game.
And their Defense outplayed ours and it wasn't even close. They were supposed to be the worst defense in the league remember. I cam away saying that is a very, very solid team right now.
This has been mentioned by worth noting - Dallas has gone against the grain and developed a power team in a passing era. They are everything Coughlin wants to be.
They dominate upfront, draw the D in and then take smart shots. They are a lot like some of our teams that crushed it the last 7 years.
Dez with a huge 2nd half.
Murray another big game.

Escobar had a total of 20 yards going into the game. He blows. Just because we make people look better than what they are, doesnt mean they are good.
I was impressed by their offensive line, Romo having eyes on the back of his head, Demarco Murray, Escobar, and Bryant. I was thoroughly impressed their defense is as good as it is with the talent they have. Although Durant, Spencer, Mcclain, and Carr aren't scrubs.
There were times in the game where Hankins looked to be on roller skates getting pushed downfield. Other than JPP and occasionally Hankins the line was handled with relative ease. Murray made guys miss and ran hard. Bryant and Escobar were catching and hanging onto balls even when covered very well. Romo was just Romo, he is good and can make rushers miss. Their defense makes teams work for yards and is good enough to not completely give games away (their offense always scores points and runs well).
I asked a few of my friends who are huge Cowboys fans
Can their no name defense play this way the entire season? They're also very hesitant on getting too high on this early in the season.. for good reason

1) I think the biggest key to their success is the OL. If it continues to play like this, they have to be a favorite in the NFC.
2) Murray didn't come out of nowhere. He has always flashed his talent. He just has had trouble both staying healthy (nagging injuries) and holding on to the ball. This OL has made it easier for him to prevent both of these problems. He is also running smarter, not taking as many big hits.
3) I don't think their D is dominant.
4) Back to the OL, with their play, Romo is staying pretty clean, which makes Bryant a big threat. He also gets enough time for secondary and tertiary targets to get open after being initially covered.
this is a kneejerk reaction off of 1 game. They are 6-1 and beat a division rival (which always end up being close it seems).
Going from worst defense in the NFL to even just average should win them 12 or 13 games. Any Murray + that Line = less shots to Romo's back which is something I thought he'd have a problem with heading into this season.
their commitment to the run was amazing. It really opens things up when they need to pass. They finally figured out that even with all of his talent, they can't win having Romo throw it 30-35 times a week. He can be just too mistake prone at times. You find me a corner breathing in this league that can lock up Dez for 60 minutes, including big mouth in Seattle. Even mr. mouth was smart enough to keep his lip zipped about Bryant. Sure if Murray goes down it would be a blow, but with that O-line their back-ups would do fine. Their D can be exploited especially with a versatile running attack(which unfortunately we didn't have yesterday due to injury) and a team with an elite passing attack but Marienelli seems to be scheming pretty damn well.
is a trait our QB has. I think I remember 1 real Playoff game from Romo and games he gave away. The proof is in the pudding. Mr Regular season will get you a huge contract, but when it is all said and done, you need to win during the Money season or you will be remembered as a JAG
Almost predicatble after beating the SB champs in their stadium, which was a huge, emotional win.
Injuries to Romo and the Murray will be the only thing holding them back.
They have to be the favs in the East.
They need Free back in the worst way. I thoguht their backup really struggled. Smith also wasnt anything to write home about. Plus, their defense stinks.

So you're saying the Giants were on thin ice? One Rashad Jennings away from a disaster season?

No. This was just another thought. This offense is completely different with him in the lineup
