Friends band asked me a year ago to play bass for them. Really talented guys.
Didn't have time, didn't play bass. Too busy working.
Other friend plays bass in band.
Fast forward a year.
Friends band has only played 3 shows, but their EP is so on point, a large band's singer has decided to manage them and sign them on his label.
GOD DAMNIT! -_-
just venting on this one. Damnit Damnit Damnit. What could have been =( =( =(
Like Hollywood, make it for a min and spend the rest of your life chasing a dream while others move ahead.
You're still likely better off without it.
Fuck my life...I would have been a bajillionaire!..:(
If it was work or family, what choice did you have? Just don't make the same mistake next time.
I mean sure some groups black keys something like that but I heard that bands that are real good ( like kongos perhaps) due to no CD's being sold anymore really just make thier money in touring. Some monies in CD's and royalties on songs but nothing like it was years ago. You were like a instant millionaire. Now I heard you pretty much have to work for a living.
Which is not quite but sort of a 9-5 job. Go someplace different every night set up play, and do that over and over.
Is this not true?, that was my impression.
Great if you miss the opportunity to perform your art, but is it the money or the art. Seems if art you could still hook up with someone or other..
I compare every girl I have ever met since to her.

What have you done to Sneakers, you eagle dragging jackass?

Yeah, I think it's just the feeling of getting paid to do something you truly love. But the money vs fulfillment thing is a constant tug of war. Just gotta keep striving to find that happy medium.
To be honest, I find a few of my friends that I grew up with playing music are finally getting to some pretty awesome places, some as DJs, some playing in bands, and a couple who are in the recording end of things. I have a fleeting sense of jealousy, but at the end of the day, I'm happy for them, and hey, I guess it gives me one more connection to the industry that I might be able to leverage if I ever get the balls to go for it, right?

But to answer your initial question in your post, yeah, most musicians (at least in most of the genres I listen to) are completely broke. A couple of the electronic genres I like have some potential to make some cash eventually, if you get big enough, but nobody is really in it for that nowadays.
You can't be. With the CD model destroyed, a lot of money has dried out. Artists don't make shit off streaming sites.

LOL. Good one Sneakers.
