WR Odell Beckham Jr.

October 20, 2014

Q: Why do you say that?

A: We just need to take a step back from football and get our bodies right and come back next week and get ready to work.

Q: What is the identity of this team offensively?

A: We are still trying to find it. We are trying to find exactly what we are going to do. We will get it together. It is something that just takes time.

Q: Is the bye coming a perfect time for you too because you didn’t start on time at the beginning of the season and now you are in a groove, but now you have to take a week off again… Would you rather just keep playing?

A: It doesn’t really matter. It is just part of the schedule. You have to go with it. Get a little bit of rest and make sure you get your body right. I am not complaining.

Q: Do you feel at all that you are completely caught up or close to caught up now from whatever you missed during training camp?

A: To an extent. I have three games under my belt, but that is no preseason or training camp so I am still trying to get my football legs underneath me.

Q: You come off this stretch where you lost your last two… You go into the bye week 3-4 and you have a tough schedule ahead… How do you view where this football team is at?

A: At 3-4, we just have to keep continuing to get better. Make sure we all do our assignments. I feel like a lot of games this year we have beat ourselves. Those are things great teams can’t do. We have to eliminate the mistakes and keep playing football.

Q: What was [Coach Coughlin’s] message to you guys as you go on the break?

A: Make sure you get your body right and come back next week ready to work. We are 3-4. It is a long season.

Q: You feel you have made a quick contribution, but do you feel like the best is ahead for you in this second half?

A: Definitely. There are things that I need to correct from yesterday’s game. It is little things that we all need to do better.

Q: What is different for you from game-to-game… From your first game when you got out there… Is anything slowing down for you or becoming more natural?

A: It is still all fast. It is the NFL. Everything is moving fast. I still have to catch myself from time-to-time telling myself to slow down. I think it is natural when you are young like that and you are coming onto a new level to just try and slow it down. It is a difficult thing to do sometimes.

Q: What happened on that play where there was too many men in the huddle?

A: You have to know the formations. It was a whole team assignment and we all messed up on it. Calling out the personnel. I will take the blame for it, but as a team we all have to communicate better.

Q: You do have young players in key positions, but in the second half of the season will you not look at yourself as a rookie?

A: They tell me each and every day that you are a vet now and you need to carry yourself as one and play as one. The whole routine as a [veteran player]. I am trying my best to step up and do whatever I can to help this team.

Q: Is it your coaches or teammates saying that?

A: Teammates.

My only thought to this is

when he said the offense is still trying to find their identity. Well, it'll soon be week 8 (basically a halfway point to the season) and they have Indy, SF and Seattle coming up. They might want to hurry up finding themselves.
I don't know how well he will work out

looking back years from now in the Giant system but I am real real impressed with this guy. I'm starting to wonder at times if Eli has lost some of his arm. Great touch passes but seems a little speed and distance is gone.

Seems like attitude wise and speed wise he is head and shoulders above anyone else.
Just me but I really think I see(sans injury) the making of a elite player.
For a rookie can 't beat that attitude with a stick.

Has really hit them hard. Harder than I thought it would. And I'm a big Bradshaw guy.

To be fair, Bradshaw played in 1 game last season and his final year with the Giants he was banged up all season...basically limped out onto the field in final game to get the ovation from the crowd.

This season he has been re-born, but were the Giants supposed to carry him for a 2nd season with no production?
