NFT: New York Rangers @ New Jersey Devils Game Thread

BrettNYG10 : 10/21/2014 8:10 am
I'm assuming Lundqvist will be in net tonight since we have three days off after this, but I haven't seen anything official.

Fuck Kyle (come back) and all three of the other Devils fans.

Just filthy by Kreider

Nice finish by the White Walker
Great game
SethFromAstoria : 10/21/2014 9:44 pm : link
Kreider is beastly. On his way.
beating NJ and all those legacy sister-fuckers...
MetsAreBack : 10/21/2014 9:48 pm : link
never gets old get a ROW out of this one too.

nice win. congrats to evil stralman.

on to montreal (eventually... just 4 games here in 14 days for the blueshirts)
Great win!
Kyle in NY : 10/21/2014 9:48 pm : link
Kreider only recently started getting OT playing time. I figure they didn't trust him in his own zone, but that speed is such an asset with all that open ice.
Was just about to rip
Stufftherun : 10/21/2014 9:49 pm : link
Kreider for the weak stick check attempt instead of taking the body but back goes the flying bull up the ice!
If you get to OT
SethFromAstoria : 10/21/2014 9:49 pm : link
the singular goal should be to go and win the game. Playing for a shootout is like playing roulette. If you are in their end, they can't score.
Evil Anton with the huge goal!
B in ALB : 10/21/2014 9:51 pm : link
That was sick.

And did you all see that move by Severson on Kreider? That kid hada great game.

Not enough though.

The Wrenches go home with only a measly point after leading by two.

Sorry Wrenches.
Hot diggidy damn, that was a fun finish
Greg from LI : 10/21/2014 9:52 pm : link
Kreider is blossoming before our very eyes. What a pass to Klein!
Awesome comeback
NYerInMA : 10/21/2014 9:52 pm : link
Hopefully they can keep things rolling on Montreal on Saturday.
I know we have Kreider locked up for this year and next...
arcarsenal : 10/21/2014 9:55 pm : link
But I'm already worried about beyond that because I think he's going to turn into an elite NHL PF between now and then and he's going to cost a lot of money to lock up long-term. I just hope we can do it and will have the space.

Agree, although the Devils didn't win the shootout last year, I believe
Nice!

Duclair can sit his ass as a healthy scratch! He played with no heart. Give me Mueller all day. Kid is playing great. Looks like a keeper to me.
Of course, our PK is a disaster
NYerInMA : 10/21/2014 9:56 pm : link
That thing needs a ton of work.

Duclair played with no heart? What?
Just a typical Carl post..
arcarsenal : 10/21/2014 10:04 pm : link
Completely nonsensical and pointless. Better to just let it go.
I wonder
SethFromAstoria : 10/21/2014 10:10 pm : link
who would even think for one second that a 19 year old kid who is playing for the New York Rangers to even his own surprise would "play with no heart". I mean at the very base level, he probably was trying with his heart more than anyone else except Hayes. Makes zero sense. We move on.
meh
MetsAreBack : 10/21/2014 10:11 pm : link
carl being carl

more worried about resigning Staal and keeping this teams nucleus and strength - Defense and Goaltending - together than about kreider at this point in two years MSL will be off the books... we should be able to afford a 1st line wing.

if we can get 6 or 7 wins by the time stepan gets back - call it 7-4-1... by the time stepan gets back .... you would be tickled pick with that scenario. keep it going. turnaround in play since the 2nd intermission of the carolina game has been tremendous.

i like to think my post at that intermission challenging this team and MSL was the catalyst. i think its pretty clear it was.
Mueller looks like a keeper and Duclair has no heart?
Davisian : 10/21/2014 10:29 pm : link
That's just adorable..

even for Carl, that was a shitty post
Greg from LI : 10/21/2014 10:31 pm : link
Duclair played well. He's just the victim of a numbers game right now. BTW Mueller isn't a kid, he's 28 or 29 years old.
Extremely satisfying win after being down 3-1

Rick Nash has 8 goals this season, tied for the most in Rangers franchise history through their first 7 games of a season. He didn't score his 8th goal until the Rangers 27th game last season. [-]

Carl's the best.
Devils third goal, actually.

How do you make a statement like
Headhunter : 10/22/2014 7:50 am : link
Duclair plays with no heart? Where does stuff like that come from? I'd like to see the process in his head that puts that together and comes to fruition.
Woke up this morning and still had a fuckin semi from this game.
arcarsenal : 10/22/2014 8:44 am : link
Love beating the fuckin' Devils.
it's even better to beat them that way
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 9:29 am : link
Spot them a two-goal lead in the third period, then yank the rugh right out from under them
the only way this would have been better
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 9:31 am : link
Is if it came against Sisterfucker

Only Klein's 18th career goal, but three of them have been game-winners.
Fuck that fucking ginger goalie.
BrettNYG10 : 10/22/2014 9:59 am : link
And seriously, where's Kyle?
Kyle hasn't posted much in a while
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 10:01 am : link
Got tired of BBI, I imagine.
.
arcarsenal : 10/22/2014 10:04 am : link
The setup is just too good. Kreider makes Zubrus look like the tasmanian devil on ice.

Yeah, him and Ash seemed to have left.
Clowe certainly la-di-daing his way on the backcheck
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 10:06 am : link
.
I know Ash did
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 10:07 am : link
Someone who emails with him said he just didn't enjoy posting here anymore, which is a shame.
Yeah, that's really unfortunate.
BrettNYG10 : 10/22/2014 10:13 am : link
Clowe was really fucking overpaid, but I'd love his game for this team.

A thought I had last night: Without lockouts and assuming he stayed in the NHL for the three years he went to Europe, Jagr would have been able to get to 800 goals pretty easily - and would have an outside shot at Gretzky's record over the next couple of years (if he plays that long).

All just theoretical thinking, but his longevity is incredible.
Just be thankful that Peter DeBoer.....
damdevs : 10/22/2014 10:13 am : link
is the dumbest HC in hockey.

Anyone who puts Clowe and Zubrus on the ice at the same time in OT deserves to be fired. Who in his right mind puts the 2 slowest people in the NHL on the ice at the same time in OT? Yup Coach Dumbass does!

Also Coach Dumbass continues to tell us the team need to do a better job on the PK. Really??? Hey Genius, how about cutting Bryce Salvador who has been on the ice for 7 of 8 PK goals in 29 chances and 13 of the 19 goals given up this season. That assclown has no business being in the NHL besides on our fucking roster.
.
arcarsenal : 10/22/2014 10:17 am : link
Peter the Bore.

May he stay behind the Devils bench for all eternity!
maybe DeBoer was just distracted again
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 10:19 am : link
Fantastic two points
rsjem1979 : 10/22/2014 10:32 am : link
On a night when the Rangers were sleepwalking through the first two periods, to find some energy late was incredibly enjoyable.

By the way, Jersey folks - those sarcastic "Henrik" chants would probably be more effective if the crowd wasn't 40% blue, and there weren't 4,000 empty seats.

Go back to your shanties.
Kreider
PaulN : 10/22/2014 11:26 am : link
Is already an elite power forward, he will improve, and may improve a lot if he works for it, but the kid is already a very good player, he takes too many penalties, and is looking to brak out too much, but who would with that speed. But the guy can not be moved from in front of the net, is just starting to get some garbage goals, and his speed and size makes him a very unique player. he will not be lost, I think we will see him and Hayes together for a long time.
Kreider's getting some unfair scrutiny from the refs IMO
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 11:28 am : link
He's getting called for some really marginal stuff. I hope he can shed the rep he's getting because as my alltime favorite player Sean Avery could tell you, that rep can kill you.
Greg, that's a good point.
BrettNYG10 : 10/22/2014 11:50 am : link
Not sure whether he's a douche on the ice or if it's over him 'running' goalies.
.
arcarsenal : 10/22/2014 11:50 am : link
Kreider is an excellent player right now but he's not even close to tapping his full potential. We still haven't seen his best yet.
Imagine him playing on a line where the goal was to set HIM up?
yatqb : 10/22/2014 12:01 pm : link
Soon he'll warrant that.

I've never heard anything bad about him as far as douchiness goes
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 12:20 pm : link
So I'm gonna assume it's the running goalies thing. Enough people from other teams cried about it that he gets put under the microscope now. This is all speculation on my part, of course, but by my eyes he's getting held to a different standard than everyone else and I can't think of another reason why he would.
both gif's above are great -
Del Shofner : 10/22/2014 12:45 pm : link
it was a beautiful goal, and the one of DeBoer is too funny. Not really his fault, though. Who wouldn't glance in that direction?
The game winner was a nice example
Matt M. : 10/22/2014 2:36 pm : link
possibly, of Kreider mauturing a little. Instead of trying to do too much to win it himself, he beautifully took two defenders with him to the middle and made a precision pass for the winning shot. It was really a pretty play.
