Met Geoff Schwartz

connery928 : 10/21/2014 9:26 am
My company sponsored this event last night. Lotta fun for a good cause. Got to take some pictures with Geoff (by event organizers - still waiting to see those posted), he's a nice guy. Talked for like 2 minutes - asked him how he was feeling, if he'll be able to go in 2 weeks. basically said that's the plan and he feels pretty good. then I pulled a Lloyd Christmas and said (sans-big gulps eh) welp, see ya later.
2014 Strike Out HD Bowling Event - NYC - ( New Window )
Hope he can go...

It has to be a better option than Jerry.
So you're telling me there's a chance?

And shouldn't that be Lloyd Hannukah?
What's Missing on the OL
Samiam : 10/21/2014 9:45 am : link
The Giants don't have the ability to run effectively and consistently on 3rd and short. They had it when Snee and McKenzie were healthy and the Giants could run the ball on anybody. I remember a few years ago, they went into SF and ran down the ball down their throats. I'm hoping that Schwartz and Pugh will bring back some of that magic back.
so ideally..

what do you see the starting line being...

Beatty, Schwartz, Richburg, Jerry, Pugh or,..

Beatty, Schwartz, Walton, Richburg, Pugh?

I think most are thinking Beatty Richburg Walton Schwartz Pugh.

I had high hopes for Jerry, but he's not getting it done.
But to be fair...

All five have been inconsistent.
I'm Guessing...

That they just replace Jerry with Schwartz and leave the rest of the line as is.
If Schwartz Lives up the contract
armstead98 : 10/21/2014 10:07 am : link
This line could be excellent. There's not really a weak link there if everyone is playing to their potential. Jerry is solid depth.

Walton is a weak link.
I wish

you would have asked him if the plan was for him to comeback at RG. As for this OL, its a weak one that could use more than one upgrade for sure.
I think

Pugh has had the most problems and penalties.
Pugh
Giants : 10/21/2014 11:56 am : link
is having a hard time. Jones has been horrendous. Richburg started off the season ok but has been going down hill. Walton so far has not looked good and Beatty is following last year's downward spiral
LOLGeoff.

Pugh's Decline
Cap'n Bluebeard : 10/21/2014 12:10 pm : link
I'm wondering how much of Pugh's decline this year has to do with playing next to Jerry instead of Diehl. Diehl was obviously also not good physically, but he had 10 years in the same offensive system and could have had a positive impact on the mental performance of Pugh. It seems we have huge issues picking up any kind of line games this year, and I'm wondering if, at least for Pugh, the mental aspect is lacking.
...
christian : 10/21/2014 12:59 pm : link
If Pugh has better play next to him, I think we'll be surprised how he returns to form. Beatty's decline has been greatly mitigated by Westy - no coincidence.
pugh injury
japanhead : 10/21/2014 2:35 pm : link
i think it's pretty clear that pugh's performance has a lot to do with the arm brace he's been wearing to manage the elbow injury. eric from bbi intimated as much earlier in the week.
I think you plug Schwartz in at RG
Matt M. : 10/21/2014 2:43 pm : link
which is where he normally plays and replaces one of the 2 worst OL of the group. I would also consider using the bye week to work in Richburg at OC. You can then plug Jerry or Mosely in at LG. The big question there is what is the lesser of two evils Walton at OC or Jerry/Moseley at LG?
Two things..
PeterS : 10/21/2014 3:24 pm : link
This event and countless others like don;t get the attention they deserve. Let a player smack someone and it's branded into our subconscious! Next, Schwartz is a right guard, not left. I repeat, NOT left!

Walton is a weak link.

I'm not an oline expert and I never played one ontv but is Walton's play because he sinks or because he hadn't played in2 years and just needs time to get back to form?
