for anyone who is interested.
Just looked at his #'s....much better than I thought.
Everyone knows his sack #'s...only 3.5. Von Miller leads the league with only 8...so there is alot of time to do damage there.
JPP leads the NFL in tackles for Def lineman with 37. Watt has 29.
JPP is 2nd in the NFL in passes defended for Def lineman (tip balls) with 4...JJ Watt is 1st with 6.
There is alot of talk about him not being the same player he was 3 years ago...this may be true. But take into consideration how close to the QB he's been in alot of games this year and just the overall quality of Left Tackles he's played against...its extremely impressive. Jason Peters, Tryon Smith, Trent Williams, Duane Brown, Riley Reiff....these guys are all really good to pro bowl type tackles. I think the overall quality of Left Tackles in this league right now is extremely impressive.
fractions behind Cam Wake.
And by far, really far the #1 run defending 4-3 DE.
Its crazy the level expectations for this guy if you read the posts/articles on him.....one could say he's having a really good/pro bowl type year. And with 9 games left, he might get better...and his #'s are certainly going to get better. It doesn't help when you're 3-4 and in 2nd to last place in your division.
He's an awesome run defender and a good pass rusher. I'd prefer the opposite and I think most people here would as well. But he's a very valuable player.
he only even started 12 games that year.
When you have 16 sacks in your second year, you set up some expectations for your self.
If he had 4 that year or even 6, people would have thought these past couple seasons were good to very good for him, not disappointing.
If he stays healthy he will improve. He's only 25. Plenty of upside. We have not seen his best yet.
He's been very consistent, esp versus the run. You've seen a ton of plays this way.
The rub is he will be up for a contract after next season......what do the Giants do?
I really wish Moore would get more reps opposite him.
In 2012, his QB pressure % was better than 2011. He didn't have the same number of pass rush attempts in 2012. And, as every critic screams, the sack number was not the same. Sacks are overrated. Consistent QB pressure is much more important than the sack total.
His 2012 season was excellent. He pressured the QB and played elite run D.
Is that true? Or is he a FA after this season?
I think the Giants should actually look for another RDE and move JPP to LDE like Strahan...
If there's anyone suited to play that spot it's definitely him and I bet all of his numbers would increase. Not to mention it would free up Moore to play RE and get up the field and use his athletic ability ala Osi.
fractions behind Cam Wake.
And by far, really far the #1 run defending 4-3 DE.
Damn.. We could've had both #1 & #2 DE's by PFF!
I'll just blame Reese

Moore is a RDE. That's why he's struggling to get playing time behind JPP. If they move JPP, RDE will be all his.
When he is healthy, which he wasnt for parts of 2012 (back) and mostly all of 2013 (back/shoulder) he is a big difference maker.
I'm not sure why we would assume that JPP can't be trusted once paid. His performance on the field says otherwise. He hustles on every play, is consistently leading d-lineman in tackles and is all over the field.
If you add up sacks + pressures + deflections + TFL he has got to be towards the top of that list in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
He's been one of the better players on D. No even questionable despite too man wanting him to have 2 sacks per game.
He just came off a game against a top LT in which he had 6 tackles and 2 sacks and a couple of other pressures and people are still not satified.
People are so enamored with sack numbers they do not look at what he is doing. Outside of Philly he is having a great year. He is pressuring the QB every game, he is playing really good run D, he bats balls down.
I just watched the last DAL series on short cuts. We needed a stop and he did everything possible to get it.
On just this series, he had 3 running plays where he hit the RB in the backfield. Just blew past the OT on 2 of them and moved him back 2-3 yards on another.
First play of the series was a TFL by JPP. It was a run to the other side. He easily beat the OT inside and made the play for a loss. 2nd and 11.
The 2nd was to his side on another first down run. He walked the OT back. Complete control of the OT and made another big play on first down. Almost another TFL but the RB gained about 1/2. 2nd and long. (This is something you see often with JPP. He walks the OT back 1, 2, 3 yards and controls both gaps to his side.)
The 3rd was to the other side again. He beat the OT again with a quick inside move to hit the RB 2 yards deep.
He was also held on the key 3rd down slant to Bryant. He was the only DL getting any pressure. He's was the best DL vs the run.
I think JPP at LE makes to much sense. Especially with Moore fighting for PT. Jpp/Bromley/Hankins/Moore need to be the starters.
