“I just hate to see them hammering a 20-year-old kid,” said Nicklaus, whose grandson Nick O'Leary is a teammate of Winston's. “Has he made mistakes? Maybe. But you’re supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, I think. Not charged and convicted and sentenced." |
Yep, said the same thing in a thread the other day. The paranoia, the persecution complex, the self-righteousness....it's all coming together.
Thanks for not holding Jack responsible for his comments. Better to make sure everyone who supports FSU is held accountable for them.
Oh...well then go fuck yourself.
I'm solely basing it off of Nicklaus.
Wow. Thanks for setting me straight.

As I said - persecution complex.
Quite a bit of my family members are Florida State fans, and frankly they're sounding like delusional lunatics lately. Jack Nicklaus' comments are noteworthy because he's got a platform, not because they're out of line with the majority of their fans.
Way to take the moral high ground Jack Nicklaus.
Very few people want Winston thrown in jail. Innocent until proven guilty exists in a court of law, not public opinion.

^This.

Jack Nicklaus did in fact run his comments through the entire FSU fan base before making them. They received unanimous approval.

And so are mine. And almost to a person none of us like Winston and can't wait for him to move on. But it's good to know we are persecuted and delusional and on par with Penn State fans.
Since when does the word "fans" encompass all of them?
Looks like I'm not the one trying to make words easier for comprehension...
Anderson, SC is about 20 minutes away. 12 mile drive. Gets longer on game days, but yes, not a bad area.
If you want, e-mail me at rsgearh@g.clemson.edu, and I can tell you which hotels to avoid (and which to stay at).
Most of the good ones are right off of 85.
It looks like all 3 of us have taken turns saying something stupid recently.
Got it.
Never mind the fact that you don't even need the confirmation from Kelly to know that they blew the call. All you have to do is watch the video and see his helmet come off to know it's without a doubt a blown call.
(Isn't the controversy surrounding him about how he hasn't been?)
Have you even bothered to follow the story since then. Have you listened to Bob Costa speak of it, a man whose resume in researching these type of issues is probably better than yours.
Have you bothered to question why the NCAA has dropped the sanctions or learned how flawed the Freeh report was.
Will it make a difference when the President and the Athletic Director are acquitted of any wrong doing. Does it matter that the fine levied on the State of Pennsylvania has been rescinded.
You just keep up your uninformed narrative, but just be certain not to research the story as it has unfolded, because I think you will feel a bit foolish.

This makes it so much easier to hate Penn State. Thank you.

When the journalistic integrity of Bob Costas is one of your strong points, it's a downhill slide from there.
I have no horse in this race. I went to Hofstra. I read these threads for insight in news stories. That being said, blanket insults to people seems a bit amateurish, no? Penn state and FSU fans in this board are also Giants fans. So does that make Giants fans the same?? That's a generalization along the same lines, right??

Is Anderson, SC a decent area to stay for a Clemson football weekend? I booked a couple rooms for next years ND-Clemson weekend there, couldn't get any closer as they were either unavailable or 600+ per night which im not paying

Stay at South of the Border. Sure it is nowhere near Clemson, but fuck it man, it's Pedro!

These guys have not read thing since the media told them how to think 2 years ago. They believe what they are told and then move on. It's just ignorance at this point. You can't reason with them.
Oh...well then go fuck yourself.
the Lemonade iced tea is called an Arnold Palmer, not a Jack Nicklaus. #FYI
Welcome to college football. They're all like that.
When are these big college football programs going to stop recruiting thugs just because they are good athletes?
They could probably do a good recruiting job in the various state prisons.

That's why I'm glad my alma mater is D-3.
We don't have these issues.
Now aside from insisting that they aren't The U, FSU fans have never had anywhere near the sanctimoniousness that Paterno's cultlike following did. But at the end of the day it's a fucking football game, and when football and the money it produces becomes so central to the school's identity that it keeps you from acknowledging the blatantly obvious, you're starting to trend into Penn State territory. And no, it isn't the entire fanbase (and wasn't with Penn State). But it's a large and prominent segment of it.
Doesn't matter the program, once they reach celebrity status the microscopes come out. They all have an accumulation of questionable "athletes" (except Notre Dame, of course.)
You never here about Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, the Ivy League schools, etc having persons of questionable morality.
Winston seems like a total tool & any NFL team willing to take him high needs to get their heads examined.
I lived right around the corner, within walking distance.
It did close, temporarily, but was re-opened (same name and all) before I left.
Behind a beauty salon and car dealership, now.
That was a fun place.
