DanMetroMan : 10/21/2014 4:27 pm
How the hell did everyone wait so long to jump in?

WTF was with the guy who won?
jcn56 : 10/21/2014 4:35 pm : link
He ran out of there - he was in the best position to get him off the ref. WTF?
Yeah, I saw that
MadPlaid : 10/21/2014 4:36 pm : link
Crazy. What about the other fighter in blue? Why didn't he try to stop the guy instead of running like a shot out of the ring? Messed up.
If I'm the other boxer I'd get him off the ref

-Zab Judah
Did he get knocked out or do something illegall
BigBlueDownTheShore : 10/21/2014 7:51 pm : link
It seemed like weird way to end a fight? Maybe thats why he attacked.
Looked like
muhajir : 10/22/2014 7:22 am : link
the attackers trainers wanted him to get a few licks in before they broke it up. Also, other boxer proved to be a huge coward.
The way the ref ended that fight was bullshit..

he gave the guy a standing 10 count and he was there with his gloves up ready to go after about ONE second. Seemed a little fishy to me
being a boxing official

that guys in alot of trouble...it not like that dude got in a fight in the area...a boxing ref is a state official just like punching a cop....I've seen this several times and every time the fighter went to jail for a good while, got fine his purse plus state fine then banned either for life or several years....if he's not a star like Zab. he'll most likely be black-balled by most state boxing commissions.

FTW.

IMO, Zab should have been banned after he went after Nady.

Also agree with EricJ- seemed weird to stop the fight like that. Unfortunately, that's boxing, and it's something fighters have to deal with without beating the shit out of the ref. Especially in an amateur contest as this appeared to be (where incidentally you get much earlier stoppages than in a pro fight for safety's sake).

that looked like a really bad fight stoppage.
sb2003 : 10/22/2014 11:50 am : link
Stupid though to attack the ref in the ring like that. Now he'll have to go to anger management classes and publicly apologize and be banned from fighting for a while.

It would have been much smarter to hide in waiting for the ref outside and jump him from behind.
OK, so the ref's either a moron or crooked
jcn56 : 10/22/2014 12:06 pm : link
any chance this guy had at appealing or pleading his case is out the window now, and he's marked for life.

Of course, guys who get hit in the head for a living aren't known for their critical thinking skills.
He's been banned for life by the Croatian boxing federation.
Mad Mike : 10/22/2014 12:24 pm : link
And the ringside trainers (presumably his, not the other guy's, but the article doesn't specify) are suspended pending an investigation.

It was an amateur fight in Europe, so a little different.
What he did is reprehensible
Matt M. : 10/22/2014 2:00 pm : link
But, that seemed like a very odd stoppage. First, the video picks up with him getting a standing 8 count and he seemed to have all his faculties. the ref lets them fight and he is standing firmly right with the eventual winner and took a few, what seemed like, harmless blows and the ref applies another standing 8. The whole time the fighter had his gloves up, was on firm legs, and seemed to to be OK. Of course we don't know what his face (eyes) looked like or what he was saying. But, I don't see how that fight should have been stopped.
The more I watch that,
Randy in CT : 10/22/2014 2:06 pm : link
the more it becomes obvious that the ref was on the take. Not excusing beating up the ref. But that was horseshit.
sure, it was a con job
Greg from LI : 10/22/2014 2:13 pm : link
But all that guy accomplished was ending his boxing career for good.
If the ref was on the take
djm : 10/22/2014 2:25 pm : link
He most certainly did deserve that beat down.

Sure, he did. Did it accomplish anything other than getting that guy banned from the sport? Nope.
Agreed
