my daughter loves the damn things, but I haven't found a trick to cleaning them quickly that doesn't involve me chasing those little red fuckers all over the kitchen floor.
anyone who's been to Japan knows that chopsticks aren't for
where a guy battered the outside of a pomegranate in a bowl of water with a wooden spoon and got all of the seeds out easily.
Saw that one too and tried it, no dice. Either with scoring the outside of the fruit with a knife first or without, the spoon just bruises the shit out of the seeds closest to the peel and you're still left clawing them out of there.
I wonder how it's done industrially, when they want to extract pomegranate seeds whole for use (not juice, which I assume they just slice up and mechanically separate after).
sections of grapefruit, pomela, pomelit or even lemons.
It's a lot more work than the above bit for oranges but you get only the flesh of the fruit without the nasty, hard to eat, bitter, "skin" of each section.
For very elegant presentation and flavor that's the best way by far to prepare any citrus for additions to salads or as a garnish for veal (picatta) or filleted fish dishes.
My kids love pomela and even grapefruit that way...
This one, though, seems to be a waste of perfectly good orange. How much time and effort is really involved with either peeling an orange or cutting it into "smiles"?

Orange advice was cool, kids love it, wanted to do it. What do I do with Ryan Bear's finger, keep it wrapped in ice on the way to the hospital? That should be the next helpful video...

Why couldn't you just eat the remaining fruit off of the peel?
So after lopping off the the two ends of a mandarin orange, you are left with practically nothing.

No, I've always thought using the plate as the Italian way. Using the spoon was an American invention.
I've always twirled on the plate.

I'm getting the feeling this will be useful for some
