I miss the charm, the end zones, the field, and the character. I've been to a game at Metlife and it is just so generic to me, there is no charm whatsoever.
While I'm at it, I miss Shea Stadium too and I find it hard to believe Yankee Stadium was knocked down. I really wish there was more done to preserve/renovate these stadiums and arenas as opposed to knocking them down. I found it comical when I heard a player mention all of the history at the new Yankee Stadium before the Isles-Rangers game last year.
I really miss going to games here.
Not only does MetLife have no real character but it doesn't have a lot of the amenities you'd expect in a brand new stadium, either. I really can't think of like one redeeming quality it has. I've been there once and have zero interest in going back.
I just miss it being called "GIANTS Stadium" like it rightfully should.
Same here. I really really miss the spirals...
Seriously, who designs a stadium where you can't directly get to your section via escalator (or you take flights of steps to get to a mezzanine)? It's a cage designed to keep you walking through concessions.
What an abomination considering all the resources
I thought that it would be wonderful to have the corner facing the NYC skyline to be open so it could be seen from inside...
Every game the people to the my left and in the row in front of me differ. Miss my ole crew too.
So many odd changes and short comings. I bear with it and keep telling myself its because we had to share thoughts etc. with the Jets, but everyone else knows better. Giants etc dropped the ball on this big silver toilet bowl.
This. The spiral staircases I miss the most. Nothing like being able to go to them at halftime and get some air. The escalators that you took you directly to each tier (lower, mezzanine, and upper) were very convinenent.
The blue and red seating in the stadium were cool, too. Made it feel even more like Giants Stadium. The seats in the old stadium were also closer to the field, especially the upper tier seats.
Everything else is worse. The seats are even smaller too
I remember reading that what was the uppermost row in the upper deck of the old stadium is the equivalent of row 4 in the upper deck of the new one.

This is also true. Especially in my section 139. In the old stadium I was in 131. We were talking to (well yelling at) the opposing players. Having heated conversations with them. Now, the seats are set so far back that this interaction does not happen anymore.
My gripe is as mentioned above, the distance from the upper levels down to the field. I loved the uppers in the old stadium. Now, further back and further up, you need that huge scoreboard to follow the action because you're just too damn far from the field.
Shame, because I waited my whole (adult) life on that waiting list, I was stoked when the new stadium was being built figuring now was my chance, and the only seats I was interested in were effectively gone.

And the. Spirals
Same here. I really really miss the spirals...
My quickest way out...running down the inside of the spiral..good times
That's part of it, but I also agree with the overall sentiment. The stadium is pretty bad. It's not good to look at, I have not been there, but from what I've heard it seems more difficult to get around than Giants Stadium which just boggles the mind how that could ever be the case. Plus it's pretty bland, generic, a good example of a corporately named new age and modern dump.
Was at that game as well. One of the loud games too. Wild game as well.
Giants 27 KC 17 - ( New Window )
Same. Had great section 334. On the isle row 13. They fucked us.
But greed made John Mara and Steve Tisch opt for a bad move. Their greed has not succeeded as their beloved Coaches Corner and extra suites did not sell out. $700 tickets plus $20,000 per seat PSLs were not attractive even to corporations.
Now the bland Met Life Stadium sucks. The company Met Life sucks. Those bastards just raised my Long Term Care premiums 52% per year breaking a contract that stated no raises. Snoopy sucks. And the whole idea of sharing a stadium with the Jets sucks.

Their greed absolutely has succeeded. They are making a lot more money in the new stadium than they did the old.
I hate the new stadium, but I understand why they built a new one. The problem is they couldn't have built a more shitty new stadium if they tried.

Had a great section... Now it's all shitheads... Sorry for any returning memebers, but I did not see many in two games I attended this shithole (Metlifeless)

My uncle was Sec 334 too. We went to 2-3 games a year...
Face it, the economics of preserving older, less efficient buildings rarely makes sense and nostalgia buffs rarely understand the cost of refurbishing the old rather than replacelment. Coupled with the fact that the inventory of actual usable real estate is finite means preservation is an expensive luxury most of us can't afford.
The seats are even smaller too
The front seat of my car has gotten smaller over the years as well.
old place was tightly packed and looked amazing
Unfortunately, whether we want to admit it or not, Mara and Tisch decided that adding a few extra million to their inherited wealth was more important than preserving our history and traditions (but hey, at least they're "classier" about it than Woody Johnson). Of course a new stadium will always be necessary at some point, the least they could do is build one that's actually better with their own money instead of crying poverty and charging PSLs. Shame on them. Pathetic.

Well said. You should send this to the Giants management. There was no need to leave a Giants Stadium that had been refurbished less then 10 years before it was torn down. They should have told the Jets to fuck off and go back to Queens where they belong.
Francesa said on his show last week that Met Life Stadium has not been the financial bonanza that they envisioned,.
That Chiefs game was a great game, also the Steelers game I believe was on a Saturday the year before. The Eagles game in 2002 where we made the playoffs by beating them was a Saturday game, too. It is ridiculous that they don't do that anymore when the college season ends.
My seats are in the corner endzone lower tier, comparable seats in the old stadium were better. This stadium kind of veers up gradually, where the old stadium got vertical quicker. My row is 30, so in the old stadium you could clearly see the yard markers on the other side of the field. In the new stadium, you cant see it down the field as cleanly. That is all I care about.
As to the aesthetics, I think the stadium is boring, but it is not as bad as people make it out. The stadium store is fine, the food options are fine (not great), the bathroom lines move (unlike old stadium).

MetLife still sucks.
