Titans WR Nate Washington on the block?

LI NHB : 10/23/2014 10:28 am
Per NFL Network via Rotoworld:

Quote:
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports teams have been calling the Titans about Nate Washington's availability.

This unofficially translates to, "We, the Titans, would love to trade Nate Washington." Already demoted in favor of Justin Hunter, Washington is just taking up roster and cap space on Tennessee's 53, and could probably be had for a conditional seventh-round pick. Unfortunately for the Titans, Washington has a guaranteed $4.8 million base salary and isn't worth half that much. They'd be lucky to get a bag of punctured footballs for him.

HIgh base salary for a medium talent, but given the WR discussion since the Cruz injury, figured it would be interesting to hear opinions on Nate Washington. Personally, I think we can get the job done with our in-house Washington, but wouldn't be surprised to see this guy on the move before the deadline.
It's not the 7th round pick, it's the money he's due

He's not getting traded, if he goes he's a cut.
I heard that on NFL radio yesterday

4.8 million for what would be a 3rd or 4th receiver? Naaaah!
our in-house Washington doesn't figure to contribute much

if anything in 2014. His pre-season demonstrated he can go vertical and get the pass, but TC's comments indicate to me CW's looking at a pile of work ahead of him on the route tree, playbook and assignments, etc. Low expectations, in other words. He's not a wideout you'll see in the slot much at all, either.

I'd wager we run with the horses we have already.

which I agree with. TC isn't giving up on the season, but I don't see him making panic moves that will require big money or giving up assets, however small they would be.

Go out there with Randle/Backham and see who can win over that 3rd spot. Our WR's/TE aren't the problem.
