Surprisingly candid....

God, there must be a taker for JR Smith. Anyone? The Sixers? Please someone trade for him

the emergence of Tim Hardaway Jr it does make J.R. Smith expendable. That being said part of the intrigue for me this season is seeing if Fisher can get Smith to play in a more structured offense. It's one of the more interesting dynamics of this season.
Yup, believe it or not, guys.
wigs in nyc : 10/24/2014 11:25 am : link
It's a candid quote- if Jackson can wind up morphing JR he'll be even more special than I already imagine he is.

arcarsenal : 10/24/2014 11:28 am : link
That's a real quote?
Everything will be a struggle with JR.
kmed : 10/24/2014 11:30 am : link
One of the dumbest players ever. His thought process is as simple as....duh, shoot the ball that way.
yep, an exact quote
Greg from LI : 10/24/2014 11:36 am : link
.
This Knick team
EricNY33 : 10/24/2014 11:37 am : link
is high on dumb players. Amar'e and J.R. lead the pack in that regard.
.
arcarsenal : 10/24/2014 11:42 am : link
Yeah, there is no way Phil doesn't get rid of this guy ASAP. He is so unbelievably stupid.
Look, I believe every word he says
Greg from LI : 10/24/2014 11:46 am : link
But who the hell actually says that to a reporter without realizing how that's going to sound?

Oh, right, JR Smith does.
Why does JR do anything he does?
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/24/2014 11:47 am : link
Because he's JR.
His value
EricNY33 : 10/24/2014 11:52 am : link
is too low right now to move. He's gonna have to increase his trade value first and even then... I have a feeling teams are going to say if Phil Jackson can't get through to him how the heck can we?
it's like everyone on the Knicks has had truth serum administered
Del Shofner : 10/24/2014 11:54 am : link
to them all of a sudden. It's not funny from a basketball point of view, since it confirms what we all know about Smith and we're stuck with him, but I think it's funny from an organizational point of view after so many years of North Korea-like thought control.
Leave it to JR to say something this stupid.
LawrenceTaylor56 : 10/24/2014 11:55 am : link
Hah.

Shoulda kept Cope.
I've always believed that Phil
kmed : 10/24/2014 11:56 am : link
will work with dump people, but he can't work with dumb players. JR is a dumb player, he can't be long for this team.
yea you could tell in Jackson's player breakdowns in the Daily News
Giants11 : 10/24/2014 12:12 pm : link
the other day that JR is not long for this team. His problems are not physical they are mental- in other words he's an idiot. Phil knows he can't change that. I think he probably lasts the season but when he's a short timer next off season he's gone for a ham sandwich and a couple of deflated basketballs.
JR Smith is stupid?
Shockeyisthebest80 : 10/24/2014 12:16 pm : link
Must be Woodson's fault.
of course you manage to work Chris fucking Copeland into the thread
Greg from LI : 10/24/2014 12:17 pm : link
Let it go already

Nah this is one thing Woodson can't be blamed for.
he's not a smart man

This isn't really that big of a deal
AnotherGiantsFan : 10/24/2014 12:38 pm : link
He's being blunt (pun intended) about something which is unfortunately coupled with poor wording.

JR Smith is a go to scoring option when he's on the court. That's a fact. Being a go to scoring option when you're on the court means you're more accustomed to draining the rock then playing hot potato with the ball in a system.
Greg..
Vin R : 10/24/2014 12:42 pm : link
JR was asked to diagram a triangle offense.

Still banging this drum, huh? Well, you are consistent if nothing else.
I like JR.
GiantsUA : 10/24/2014 12:51 pm : link
I bet he doesn't try to untie anyone's shoes this year.

PS - He does seem a bit dense

Haha. I was just messing around. Copes my boy.
Maybe we should try and peddle JR off on Indy
Giants11 : 10/24/2014 1:14 pm : link
that team is going to have trouble scoring 60 this year.
Don't be a dope!
Optimus-NY : 10/24/2014 1:49 pm : link

I'd say he's having

Troubke he shot 1/11 tonight 2 pts in 28 mins
Do the Knicks eat Travis Outlaw's 3 million and waive him in favor of
Anakim : 10/26/2014 3:23 am : link
Travis Wear? Also, Phil is reportedly considering not exercising Shane Larkin's option for next year in favor of more cap space.

Any interest in claiming Jordan Hamilton or James Michael McAdoo, guys? Phil reportedly had interest in the latter. We could claim a guy, waive/trade Outlaw (though who would take him?) and send Ware to Westchester. We have 15 contracts guaranteed on the roster right now, plus Wear.
Larkin would have to be very unimpressive
Italianju : 10/26/2014 8:03 am : link
For it to be worth not picking up his option. It's only for like 1.6, can't imagine needing that 1.6 so bad.

Mcadoo stinks. I guess if they want to put him on the dleague team I'm ok with it.
sounds like knicks are planning...
Italianju : 10/26/2014 10:09 am : link
on waiving outlaw and keeping wear. In the long run this move really doesnt mean much, but i like it. Outlaw's only value would be in including his salary in some type of in season deal.
