What NFL players has your home town produced?

Mike in Philly : 10/24/2014 7:54 pm
The Cris Carter thread just got me wondering. I'm from New Britain, CT, not big by many standards, and my home town has produced two that I know of: Willie Hall (Raiders) and Tommy Myers (Saints).

Just curious about your actual home town and not the Cris Carter from Cincinnati type of geography.

Probably the two best known are Joe Andruzzi and Dominique Easley with the Patriots.

For the old timers there's Mike Siani and of course, Frank Ferrera.

Went to college with him at URI. Football team and crew team (I rowed) ate breakfast at the same time. The meals those kids ate probably explained the exorbitant meal plan prices! He was one of those tiny waist, huge shoulder, less than 3% BMI muscle guys in college, but I guess didn't have quite enough speed to make it as a 240 lber, so bulking up is what he did. Always felt a weird sense of one-sided comraderie once I heard he was a Giant even though he probably couldn't have picked me out of a lineup.

Yup. I grew up friends with Dave and played sandlot football and a lot of hoops with him. McCauley was 2 or 3 years ahead of us but I watched him many Saturdays at GC High. There was also Rick Frisbie who was a classmate of McCauley's and might have gone pro as a DB but the options out of Harvard were too attractive for him to go for it as a UDFA, I think. That high school team with McCauley and Frisbie was something.

Pete moved to Ogdensburg with his family from Hungary in 1957.

Kyle Johnson was a senior when I was a freshman and I remember him being much faster and stronger than just about anyone else on the field. He ended up playing college ball at Syracuse, and even spent a little time on the Giants practice squad in 2002, before playing a couple seasons on the Broncos. IIRC, he was plagued by leg injuries in college and the NFL, and had a fairly short career.

Sorry to miller the thread, but Pete had make percentage on FGs of just over 58% and he was considered a good kicker. If that was today he wouldn't last 4 games before being cut.

My home town didn't provide any NFL players that I know of. The town I live in has Brandon Tate of the Bengals and nearby Gibsonville had Torry Holt and his brother Terrence.

was Ernie Davis, who probably never played a snap in a regular season game before dying.

A DL guy named Pete Curkendall played a few games for the Seahawks.

I actually think those are the only guys to play in the NFL from Elmira.

Until this thread, I had no idea Alzado was from Brooklyn. Did he play HS ball here, or was he just born here?

Others notables:
Harry Boatswain (SF 49ers, Madison HS)
Tony Colorito (Denver Broncos, Midwood HS - my alma mater)
Allie Sherman (Eagles, plus giants HC, Boys HS - now Boys & Girls HS)

Steroids did him in. The steroids was his religion otherwise his Jewish faith would have him avoiding foreign substances

He moved to Cedarhurst, NY when he was 10 & went to my high school. Don't know of any others from the 5 towns who played in the NFL. I'm sure there were plenty from Nassau County as a whole.
