FA WR's

Dragon : 10/24/2014 9:55 pm
It's the bye week for the Giants why has there been so little activity to solve the WR problem on this team. I just can't understand how the Giants expect to win many games with Parker and Ogletree as the 3rd WR on this team. From all reports Washington is a redshirt year so he does not even come into the discussion. This team presently has no one at WR or HB who brings real big play speed to the field.

The Pats have Josh Boyce, on the practice squad 5-11, 205 lbs, 23 years old with 4.34 speed. He can play in the slot or outside and return kickoffs why no interest in this guy? He could even line up in the backfield for a change of pace look. Does Ogletree have more upside or ability than this guy I would think not.

Who else is out there that could help this team before the wheels fall off the wagon with one or two more losses in the next three weeks?

Why aren't the receiver-starved Patriots interested in elevating this future phenom who's apparently languishing on their practice squad that no other team apparently wants?
Speed

We lack it he has it with the ability to play and fill several weak areas on our present team. If he was a hopeless case old Bill would not have him on the PS. As I said earlier does Ogletree present anything more special than this guy IMO no. It seems they are not interested in a trade so do you believe Ogletree and Parker are the answer to our lack of speed at WR?
actually Josh Boyce was a very good WR prospect in the 2013 NFL Draft.

The guy could still turn into a good WR.. surprised he hasn't had more success since college and playing in the NFL..

then again.. I haven't followed him since the draft so I don't know what his situation is up there in New England.. just thought he was decent value in the 4th round at the time..

regardless.. I think the Giants were looking more for a vet with some more NFL experience rather then a prospect to develop.. I think Kevin Ogletree is more on our team as a reserve..

it seems with the extremely unfortunate injury to Cruz the Giants plan right now is Beckham, Randle, and Parker..

has played alright. he's tough, catches the ball, and seems to know his assignments. i have noticed him working hard to block downfeild (back when we got some second level runs) I kinda like him. we could do worse. he might even end up better then ok.

i wouldn't assume washington is a redshirt. i think he might start seeing the field in the second half of the season. situationally. anyway, if you bring in someone else's PS WR it would only take his reps away. what sense is that? might as well develop the guy we've been developing.

Ogletree is a vet and a pro. his FLOOR is way higher then a young player in the short term - This season. There are players with higher ceilings, but they won't be able to help the team this year. we already have a developmental guy on our 53 - who it sounds like you would like to see play. i know i would.

I agree. Ogletree is a veteran and Parker plays his heart out and seems to know what he is doing out there. I also think that Washington will get some playing time in the 2nd half of the season. The key to our offense going forward is Odell Beckham. He has showed well so far and if he can use his speed to keep safeties honest we'll run the ball better.
this is the Giants' problem

they like the known and safe commodity rather than gambling. they had prior interest in Kevin Ogletree, but he decided to sign elsewhere...but what has he been doing since being released? have there been any new available players since they last scouted Ogletree? I wonder if they've done their due diligence or did they just blow the dust off the old file cabinet? KO is JAG...low-risk, low reward...and we love those kind of players...and that may be our problem.
You think

Josh Boyce is a upgrade over Parker and Olgetree. Come on man. Atleast say trade for a guy like Vincent Jackson or Andre Johnson.
Parker
allstarjim : 10/25/2014 9:37 am : link
Is faster then he is being given credit for. Between Beckham and Parker, there is plenty of speed on the field at the position.

And Parker has, fairly anonymously, made plays wherever he has played previously. He's a good complimentary player. He has some off the field stuff in his past that has hurt his career, though.
Too bad about Holliday

I like Parker though in the bits that he's shown some quickness. He's not a game breaking WR though.

Odell is the clear speed guy on the outside. Randle is a Manningham at best with barely enough speed to get it done. We need that second WR like nicks in his prime that catches everything and can turn it into something big. Could be donnell.
Parker is not the issue...he's played well.

Ogletree is what he is....

Holliday wasn't making the Giants because he couldn't do anything but return kicks. There isn't really room on the 53 man for a returner only much less the 45 man.
