FF Trade Discussion 10/25/2014

Sly Guy : 10/25/2014 3:36 pm
I've been offered Nick Foles, Frank Gore, Kelvin Benjamin and Bishop Sankey for Jordy Nelson, Fred Jackson (out) and Anthony Dixon. Is this worth considering?

My Team (3-4)

QB: Tannehill, Ryan
RB: Charles, D. Martin, Anthony Dixon, Fred Jackson
WR: Brown, Nelson, Gordon, Holmes
TE: Gronk, Donnell

His Team (4-3)

QB: Foles, Palmer
RB: Murray, Gore, Sankey, Hill, Hyde, Bryce Brown
WR: D. Thomas, Benjamin, Watkins, LaFell
TE: Ertz, Reed

As I'm typing this out, I'm starting to think the value isn't worth it for me. It would also make his team pretty strong. Am I wrong?
I wouldn't make that deal

It seems like it's a deal that doesn't help you at all. But yeah it looks like it makes his team a lot stronger.
Friend called me an idiot for not taking this deal

Lovely people in my competitive league.
That's
Jon in NYC : 10/25/2014 4:43 pm : link
a no brainer for you.
I sure don't see that as a no brainer,
kmed : 10/25/2014 5:41 pm : link
that's for sure. I am however curious as to what the starting positions are. Looks to me like you aren't improving your starting team and you are improving your bench which means nothing.
Foles of 2014
kmed : 10/25/2014 5:46 pm : link
is not Foles of 2013. He's the 19th ranked QB right now. I'm sure a few of the guys ahead of him haven't had their bye yet.

Gore and Sankey are backups on good fantasy teams. I think both would be upgrades from Martin, but not enough to make the dropoff from Nelson to Benjamin.

Seems like this is a lateral move, but I'd want more if I'm trading Nelson who is a bonafide top 5 WR.
I'd also like to point out that Fred Jackson
kmed : 10/25/2014 5:47 pm : link
will be coming back and will have a lot of value without spiller in the picture. The more I think about it, the more I don't like this trade for you at all. You can do better if you are going to trade Nelson and Jackson.
Ok, my 4th straight post on this, haha.
kmed : 10/25/2014 5:50 pm : link
Ryan(who I didn't even realize you have)>>>Foles.
Nelson>>Benjamin.
Jackson when healthy>>>Gore and Sankey
Haha
Sly Guy : 10/25/2014 6:19 pm : link
I always do appreciate Kmed showing up to the Fantasy trades. I love Ryan (traded Romo and Kelce before the 2nd game of the year). However, his current oline trouble has me scrambling for a new QB.

2013 Foles would've been an upgrade. 2014 Foles, not so much. Shit, the guy would've had Palmer if I accepted that trade. Doesn't say much about his confidence in Foles.
Who would you start
pjcas18 : 10/25/2014 8:10 pm : link
Kelvin Benjamin vs SEA
Joique Bell vs ATL (London)

I have Bell in now, it's PPR and I read Reggie Bush is out.

Those are both good choices, so it's a good problem to have (much better than my choices at the flex position this weekend). I'd stick with Bell, if for no other reason than one is facing the Atlanta defense and the other is facing the Seattle defense, but there are other reasons as well to choose Bell over Benjamin. It will come down to TD's, but the thing about Bell is that even if he doesn't get into the endzone, he is still likely good for 100+ total yards, whereas if Benjamin doesn't get into the endzone, you're likely looking at single digit points.

p.s.-- And, for what it's worth, Matthew Berry has Bell ahead of Benjamin in his top 200 ranking for the weekend.
Berry's top 200 - ( New Window )
Yeah

I think Sherman may be on Benjamin too - which will be fun to watch, since benjamin is such a physical freak, but not ideal for fantasy football.

And to give you an idea of how the other half lives....
Milton : 10/25/2014 8:54 pm : link
I'm stuck choosing two out of the following--RB McFadden, WR Sanu, WR Terrence Williams, WR Allen Robinson, and WR Larry Fitzgerald--for my flex and WR2 slots. I currently have McFadden as my flex and Sanu as my WR2, but I may be the only one who hasn't jumped off the Sanu bandwagon with a dinged up AJ Green due back tomorrow. Meanwhile Williams seems to ring up lots of points for a guy who gets very few targets whereas Robinson seems to ring up very few points for a guy who gets significant targets.

Last I saw was that Green is out tomorrow.

On the surface, that's good news for Sanu, but part of my thinking was that a gimpy Green would be serving as a decoy (much like Plaxico in Super Bowl 42, who caught Eli's first and last pass of the day, but nothing in between).
You're giving up a steak dinner

For a week's worth of Raman noodles if you make that deal.

Don't make that deal. You can find waiver wire players that are as good as foles and gore and benjamin. Don't trade quality for quantity.
