NFT: Yosemite Upgrade Help

jgambrosio : 10/26/2014 12:09 pm
Has anyone else had severe wifi problems after upgrading to Yosemite? My wifi drops constantly. There are a number of people on the Apple forums with the issue, but no fix to date.
Mine doesn't drop, but the internet is much slower

And it says I need to install Java
It's never recommended that you get the first version

By most IT staff I talk with. Just for future reference - wait a while until the kinks are worked out

Will it fix itself or do I have to uninstall and then reinstall it?

This happens with ever update.

Clear your network settings and preferences.
I upgraded.

No problems. And I'm getting twin-turbo speed internet. Fastest it's ever been 58mbps down load. Never came close to that with my old sony Vaio. Bought this Imac last month.
You might try...

I installed a new Netgear AC router this weekend and my iPad was dropping Wifi every few minutes/seconds. I finally turned off the 2.4 ghz network - I didn't have any devices that needed it - and the did the trick. So, you can try to disable the 2.4 ghz network and see if connecting at 5ghz helps.

for a good number of users. Expect a patch release to come out soon. Do not buy new gear, it is the OS. Tons of people having the same issue.
