Time to start a winning streak against a hot Wild team. They destroyed the Lightning on Saturday. Darcy Kuemper is one of the best goalies in the NHL thus far.
But Lord help us if we lose to a guy named Darcy. Go Rangers! #MarcyD'Arcy
Someone told me (once or twice) that I'm not a finesse player. (Or was that politically correct? Or was that an asshole? I guess I will play the role as a goon!
Zuccarello needs to start scoring, like, yesterday. He's been invisible. If that keeps up it should be him and not Duclair who takes a seat.
I really think McDonagh is trying to do too much. He's getting himself in bad spots because he's trying to force offense. I don't know if it's the weight of the captaincy or just additional pressure to step up in Boyle's absence, but he needs to relax.
Stepan won't be back for another week at the earliest, and Boyle is still weeks away. Tighten up the D, stop giving up grade-A chances, and things will fall into place.
The phrase of the day, week, month, year, decade, hell last 40 years for me! Now I'm going to have to change it? To Bring Back Brett!!! Clap, Clap, Clap!!!!
As far as the Varsity game tonight goes - last year the Minnesota home game (12/20 I believe) was officially the turning point in the Rangers season.
Obviously not the same issue here and we're still quite banged up, but it just brings back good memories.... I watched the Giants beat Detroit in OT in a nearby bar in a game that hurt our draft pick position but still was kind of cool, my brother-in-law, who was with me, won the bar lottery for Toronto tickets two days later (part of the NYR "sell out" strategy ... give tickets away to charities and bars a few days before the game)... and we then sauntered over to the game that night and saw the Rangers play a terrific 60 minutes of crisp hockey.
to make his "reputation" worse ... and it's all bullshit imo ... fucking Montreal is the reason ... if the play on the goalie had been any other team, we wouldn't be hearing one fucking word about Kreider having a "reputation" ... but because it was the "protected" Canadians, Kreider is now a target of the refs
I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty ... but to hand out a game misconduct is just BS
you're asking a big, strong athlete to predict what and where the opponent's next move will be while going full speed. It appeared that the defenseman in this case chose not to skate all out toward the puck but actually put himself in a vulnerable position. Eh, that's the nature of the game now whether it be football or hockey.
it was a hit from behind just off the endboards. The defenseman slowed (don't think Kreider expected that) but Kreider shoved him towards the boards instead of holding up.
to make everytime unfortunately when a big player is skating at full speed and another puts himself in that position. It's a shame too because I don't believe there was intent and the defenseman slowly skated into Kreids path to shield him from the puck.
Go back to pissing your pants in delight at being in first place in mid-October, you miserable piece of fucking shit.
C'mon ... be nice ... if Islander fans can't get excited about being in first place after ten games, when are they supposed to get excited? It's not the 70s anymore...
I said this a few days ago. There is no reason to send him back there. If HFD was an option I could maybe see it but even then I just don't think he needs to go. He's just going to keep getting better up here. He's good enough to deserve top 9 minutes. Just let it ride with him.
thats for sure. Quite a win. There's a whole bunch of things to work on, but they're finding wins here and there, and that's huge.
For a while I could understand the thinking that there may not be room for the Duke and he'd be better served going back. Not anymore. It's obvious the kid belongs and brings skill not many guys on the team have. Let him stay and work through the growing pains.

The guy was miles from the boards. CK is just so strong that he knocked him about 5 feet into the boards. To me it was a good check that led to an unfortunate boarding call. 2 minutes, not 5, not game. But Moore's was dumb as shit. He definitely has an edge to him...willing to drop the gloves and such...but no need for an elbow to the head of a defenseless player. A shoulder to shoulder hit would have more than sufficed.
but sure would be nice to have Stralman. They're just grasping for someone to step up and thus far it's an experiment gone wrong. I will say this however, Hunwick can skate and has been very active in the offensive zone.
Footnote: Stralman 3rd in the league with an impressive +/- if you pay attention to those things.
getting the GWG. He's worked hard this year; the pucks just weren't going in. Meanwhile, he seemed to be an absolute force tonight in the third period. That's the Zucc we all know and love and that's why he was our point leader last year.

Anytime you can break out the DR Trimmer on some pubes - it's gonna be a good night. It's the shrapnel you need to worry about with our favorite punching slag, feelflows.
Speakin of good nights - once feelflows husband fumigates that axe wound and hits it with the DDT it's apple pie munching time.
That is, until the Herp flares up, his tongue starts growing hair and the stink of feces is eliminated by simply teaching feelflows how to wipe front to back.
If you wipe back to front - in your case - your meat curtains will most likely stink of a combination of alcohol-induced 'rea and a diseased bread factory.
wanted Stralman back but he got a good deal and we have other worries too. Not to mention the guy we got to replace him to try and help a major weakness is not even playing.
That was the craziest game I've ever been to. Like two different games. Still too many mistakes and defensive lapses and I will never in my life figure out how a full roster comes out flat on their own ice and allows themselves to be so outworked but hey all that matters is the W. Now that Zucc has scored, Marty needs to go on a streak. And he needs to be put in a position to do that by having guys who can take the defense away from him on his line. Step can't come back soon enough.
Enough with Hunwick and Moore. Bring up Allen and MacIlrath. EVen though we know that won't happen.
but Kreider and Moore took stupid pills tonight and will get deserved suspensions (especially Moore). Hopefully McD makes them apologize to the rest of the team because the Rangers aren't known for cheap shots and those were bad
Kreider will probably get 2 games which will be appealed down to 1
Hunwick has been fine. I'm more worried about what happens if we need someone to fill in for Moore for a few games.
Moore's play was really shitty - he's had a habit of taking his aggression out with shitty/dirty plays. It's stupid. He has to be smarter.
Kreider's game often has him teetering on the edge of being a bit dirty. Shit like that will happen.
Duclair has to stay - he looks great. He needs to up his defensive game and I'm concerned he's going to have costly turnovers given his penchant for carrying the puck in his own zone, but he's going to be good. Looking to next year, I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Buchnevich make Zucc expendable.
Klein played really well. I like him more than most. He's been pretty solid.
I really didn't think Kreider's merited a game misconduct, and it definitely doesn't call for a suspension. That was, frankly, a stupid play by the defenseman. You think you're gonna run interference on Kreider by slowly skating into his path and keeping your back turned to him? Think again.
Moore's was pretty bad. I don't see any way around it - he really followed through with that elbow. Dumb move.
what a comeback. But man would both goaltenders like to have last night back. For two allegedly upper echelon talents - i use the word 'allegedly' not on Hank, he's proven, but on a "man" named Darcy - man were there a ton of soft goals last night. LOL. Just one of those nights. We'll take the two points, thanks.
At least we're not the Islanders facing backups every night so far.
from behind makes the Moore hit look pretty bad but the angle directly from the side doesn't look nearly as vicious. That said, they're llegislating against hits to a vulnerable player these days so he'll surely get his.
BTW, Lundqvist needs to play better. He seems to frequently struggle in October, but we can't give up winnable games if we're going to win the division.

Terrific use of the English language, Brett. Very coherent. Thanks for this.

Watching the hit from this angle, what did Moore in was following through with the elbow. The hit itself is actually fairly clean - looks like his elbow's in the upper chest when he makes contact, but then he brings the elbow up and catches Haula on the jaw.
And it sounds like Moore's hearing will be over the phone, so he'll get a max of 5 games.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 27s27 seconds ago
Awaiting word that NYR John Moore's hearing may not be via phone, after all. Possible it could be in person. Stay tuned.
Kreider is a bit fortunate to get away with time served
They mean that since the Rangers are in NY, it's easier for their players to show up for an in-person hearing compared to a Western Conference team, and thus the league has offered Moore the option of an in-person hearing. I would guess that it still "counts" as a phone hearing in terms of the length of suspension.
but i guess i'd have to see if he targeted him from further out or something. He'll get a few games but anything more than 5 games seems extreme.
Also while I really condone it of course, it is nice that one of our guys has a little snarl to him. Teams think twice when they know a loose cannon like that is out on the ice.
We can get by a few games without Johnny Moore.
Certainly no worse than that Ottawa fuckstain's hit
They have faced a plethora of backup goalies and only lead the division by a point. meanwhile we are playing some of the most inconsistent hockey we have seen under AV, lack a power play and our Norris and Vezina caliber stars are yet to find their game and we are right on their ass
Let the jag offs yack....everything will shake out as we are accustomed
but apparently they lost tonight because of a bad 5 minute major
As we all know its impossible to win in the NHL when you get called for a questionable 5 minute major penalty. Let alone get called for 2 five minute majors in the same game!
Last night was so awesome... its like jerking off over and over again
JMoore's didn't even look as bad as I initially thought but I can deal with him getting a phone call, I expected it. It was worse than Kreiders. Kreider didn't deserve one.
That dude turned his back and leaned, totally expecting contact, Kreider has to learn he can't just blow through them on that play and use his body to engage then jockey for position. With his strength, he'll win that battle and avoid the major..
Dont be a pussy and talk shit on a seperate thread you faggot. Everything will shake out as you are accustomed to? Oh like not winning a cup for the 73rd year of 74? You guys are the fucking most arrogant fans. You never win SHIT. Congrats on getting more participation awards for making the playoffs. What a grand fucking achievement that must be.
I anxiously await youre whining about NHL .500 record too like every year.
and the only ones who would care are guys wearing baseball jackets that read Seaford Saints Softball Champs 2007 or Commack Fire Dept Volunteer and women who wear their hair too big,pot bellied, low rider jeans and halter tops

Davisian's joke about the stereotypical long island fan is funnier and more clever. Keep piggybacking on his act. You dont look stupid.....at......all
Hudson has a pretty funny act too where he comes and asks for attendance figures and then says how the metro area can only support 1 team, maybe try that one out next, ok Carlos Mencia?
You'd think with a stud first place team to talk about, they wouldn't be all over Ranger threads. Clearly these guys are just overwhelmed by the massive October success they've had.
I anxiously await youre whining about NHL .500 record too like every year.
It's not whining, it's common sense. If according to your NHL version of .500, about 80% of teams satisfy the criteria and the league average win % is 56%... then well, congratulations on your achievement of 50% I guess. Here's a gold star.
I cant blame you at all for being jealous of the run Rangers fans had last spring and Devils fans had in 2012. It was quite a ride. But no worries, you can always hang your hat on 1982.
As for the name calling of "faggot" - I realize this is a hockey thread, but grow up. No one else was personal and you come across as a douche, something i doubt you'd have the guts to do in real life.
Says the guy who felt the need to start shit in an isles thread and then quietly continues to talk your shit in the rangers thread. Why do you care if a FAN celebrates the teams "success"? Isnt that what being a fan is? its annoying to read all the time
i merely pointed that the Islanders are 2-3 against starting NHL goalies this season, one of them being Khubodin and the Hurricanes which are a sure fire bet for a top 3 draft pick this year.
Congrats on beating Hank - that's the only playoff goalie the Islanders have beat year to date.
And for the record, KWhite, in the preseason I came on here and picked the Islanders to finish 2nd in the division and face the 3rd seeded Rangers in the playoffs. So its not like i think your team is terrible, ok.... I just think its been a little lucky so far as far as getting to face more backups than other teams in this division have to face.
I got angry and I didnt mean it in the way that it was taken. In my days growing up, that word didnt mean or was used as it is looked at now. I do apologize for that.
But as far as my shit talking rangers fans, that still stands :)
Just don't put a 2 man line out there. Being that Hagelin is, by far, the fastest man in the NHL and Kreider is just an adonis they could easily dominate any team. You guys always piss on our threads. We can do the same.
did the other night cement Duclair in the regular rotation? He just makes things happen with the puck at both ends. He is raw, but his combination of speed, skill, and strength is worth putting up with some growing pains.
There's no reason for him not to be. He's been defensively responsible and he generates scoring opportunities. He had the rep of a pure sniper in Q, but he's showed some slick passing skills too. He's got great speed. He probably has the quickest release on his shot on the team. 15 years ago you might have sent him back just to fill out some more, but with the way the league has evolved I don't think being too light is much of a problem anymore (and he's actually listed as being bigger than Hags).
He'll make his mistakes like all rookies do, but as the Kings showed last season it's better to get those out of the way earlier in the season so your young guns are killing it in the postseason. The Rangers have been an offensive challenged team for a while. A gifted young scorer has a place.
Interesting article from McKenzie at TSN linked describes the 39/40 game eligibilty rule as more of a factor regarding junior aged players.
"Most, if not all, of the GMs I've spoken to on the subject are far more cognizant of the 39/40 game threshold than the 9/10 mark.
If a player plays in his 40th game of the season, it counts as an accrued year of service counting towards the seven years required to become an unrestricted free agent. Put more in terms us laymen can understand: if your favourite team's underage junior plays in 40 games this season, the clock starts ticking on his seven-year countdown to unrestricted free agency."
doesn't matter. He doesn't get a slide year because, I think, he signed his ELC after his 19th birthday. He'll be an RFA in 2017 regardless of whether he gets to his tenth game or not.
Hayes will be an RFA in two years as well. Decisions, decisions. They're probably going to have to move Klein eventually - $3 mill for a third pairing guy is just too much, and he's got three more years on his deal.
But someone's gonna be going. I doubt you could get anyone to take Girardi's contract, which is why it wouldn't surprise me to see Staal dealt this season like Callahan was. Hopefully Skjei is ready sooner rather than later.

I disagree about Klein.
We may play him as part of a third pairing in what is (when healthy) a deep set of defensive pairings, but he's a veteran who can step up and log significant minutes when called upon, he's solid defensively, and he can provide some toughness / drop gloves when warranted. Having him under contract for 3 more years at $3m is not among the problems this team faces from a salary cap perspective. I'd argue that it's closer to being a bargain than it is a problem (though all in all I'd simply characterize it as "fair").
We don't exactly have a logjam of defenseman knocking on the door either.
The tough choices that need to be made are at the winger position.
There's no reason for him not to be. He's been defensively responsible and he generates scoring opportunities. He had the rep of a pure sniper in Q, but he's showed some slick passing skills too. I think Duclair looks awfully small, but I stood next to Ryan McDonagh late last year and he seemed small as well. I had a wider frame than he did (even though I'm an inch taller and about 15-20 pounds lighter than he's listed at). I don't think many are fucking beasts like Kreider.
is at least 2 years away from playing in the NHL. He is 175 lbs and has minimal concept or discipline regarding defensive hockey.
The young player to keep an eye on for 2015-2016 arrival is Steven Fogarty playing now at ND.
The kid has really matured into a bonafide talent and may ready to center the NYR 4th line next year based on his improving defensive skills, while potentially having a ceiling of a strong 2 way second line power forward/center in the NHL.
I think Fogarty may project better long term to power forward then center.
Shoulder separations scare the shit out of me ... today, concussions are more career threatening, but other than concussions, shoulder injuries are probably the worse kind of injury for a hockey player. Not good news at all.
As for Islander fans, the fact they post shit on Ranger threads
Jesus
Just sayin', boys....
Backchecking's for sissies anyway.
All those years of low draft picks is clearly starting to catch up to us.
I really think McDonagh is trying to do too much. He's getting himself in bad spots because he's trying to force offense. I don't know if it's the weight of the captaincy or just additional pressure to step up in Boyle's absence, but he needs to relax.

I was trying to hit redbeard - my passing isn't great. I'm more of a goal scorer.
Good morning, Carl! Drop the fucking gloves!
All those years of low draft picks is clearly starting to catch up to us.
What's wrong with me? I'm the hidden sniper
Hayes was last off the ice this morning. If he doesn't play, that means MSL back to center. Oy.

(Sorry, Nak.. you can stay in the circle for now. Good job, kiddo)
he is so active and his presence is felt every shift.
I noticed him in the habs game, never even heard of him before that so I looked him up.
He and Kreider together would be a ton of speed and skill - tough to defend. puts a lot of pressure on the D.
even if they don't play together on a line, he looks like he belongs to me.
For a while I could understand the thinking that there may not be room for the Duke and he'd be better served going back. Not anymore. It's obvious the kid belongs and brings skill not many guys on the team have. Let him stay and work through the growing pains.
Glad Zucc got his, need him to be good.
This is the type of win you want to play again in 2 nights to keep the momentum going... but we'll have to wait until Saturday.
Great fuckin' win boys and way to keep your composure out there Anak. You impressed me with your perseverance tonight. Good job kid.
Agreed. The Kings proved last year you let the kids learn in the fall, take a few lumps, maybe not finish #1 overall in the conference... but you're a better team for it come May.

But why would this be a turning point and not the comeback in NJ last week? Especially when there is an eternity until the next game.
Season very young - i'm just very pleased that the team is playing so well without its #1 Center.

If you wipe back to front - in your case - your meat curtains will most likely stink of a combination of alcohol-induced 'rea and a diseased bread factory.
Clean it up.

Brassard has come on strong the past few games.
Thought it was dumb to sit Hayes.
Simple as knowing the sport, really.
Homer Dav trying to defend it. SMH.
Moore's was pretty bad. I don't see any way around it - he really followed through with that elbow. Dumb move.
His follow-through probably caused the penalty.
He's a fucking beast.
I think Moore will get a few games off (deservedly so), but I don't think Kreider will.

And, as always, Stephane Quintal is a bitch with an ax to grind with the Rangers.
At least we're not the Islanders facing backups every night so far.
Terrific use of the English language, Brett. Very coherent. Thanks for this.

BTW, Lundqvist needs to play better. He seems to frequently struggle in October, but we can't give up winnable games if we're going to win the division.

Thanks. Every word's a gift.

Awaiting word that NYR John Moore's hearing may not be via phone, after all. Possible it could be in person. Stay tuned.
Also while I really condone it of course, it is nice that one of our guys has a little snarl to him. Teams think twice when they know a loose cannon like that is out on the ice.
We can get by a few games without Johnny Moore.
But hey... its 10/28 and they still own first place by a point, even if Pittsburgh has a game in hand and has faced NHL goalies to date.
Yeah.. gave up 5 goals and the Devils lost 8-3
And yep.. the legend of LOLak is being born right on schedule.
Let the jag offs yack....everything will shake out as we are accustomed
As we all know its impossible to win in the NHL when you get called for a questionable 5 minute major penalty. Let alone get called for 2 five minute majors in the same game!
Last night was so awesome... its like jerking off over and over again
Someone who can't get laid.
Seriously though. Can't disagree with the Halak criticisms. He's been bad.
I get that they're trying to eliminate head shots, but he didn't hit his head..
Fluffy can suck it, he still thinks Phaneuf's hit on Staal wasn't clean..
What an adonis. How does he not lead the league in every category?
I'm going to jerk off over and over again thinking of him.
LOL.. nearly every one of us said Moore's was bad last night and would warrant a suspension.
And if you think Kreider slid into Price on purpose with nothing causing it, I don't know what to tell you.
I'm going to jerk off over and over again thinking of him.
Welcome aboard.
Remember to finish on pganut
I anxiously await youre whining about NHL .500 record too like every year.
Davisian's joke about the stereotypical long island fan is funnier and more clever. Keep piggybacking on his act. You dont look stupid.....at......all
I anxiously await youre whining about NHL .500 record too like every year.
And there's nothing "quiet" about posting on a Rangers thread. We know all you Fish-sticks fans read them.
It's turning into a fun little rivalry. Try not to take it so seriously, and let's avoid the "faggot" namecalling. We're not 10 years old.
But as far as my shit talking rangers fans, that still stands :)
Hopefully the Devils and Flyers suck a nut though.
Yes!

He'll make his mistakes like all rookies do, but as the Kings showed last season it's better to get those out of the way earlier in the season so your young guns are killing it in the postseason. The Rangers have been an offensive challenged team for a while. A gifted young scorer has a place.

Like the Rangers did with Kreider in 2012.... right?
Hayes will be an RFA in two years as well. Decisions, decisions. They're probably going to have to move Klein eventually - $3 mill for a third pairing guy is just too much, and he's got three more years on his deal.
Just not enough money to go around, you are right, Klein could be one of the casualties.

I think Duclair looks awfully small, but I stood next to Ryan McDonagh late last year and he seemed small as well. I had a wider frame than he did (even though I'm an inch taller and about 15-20 pounds lighter than he's listed at). I don't think many are fucking beasts like Kreider.
So I agree with you.
Fogarty is a junior and if he leaves school after his junior year he would be a free agant.

Thanks for posting this, Greg. Interesting stuff.
The sooner they sit Glass down, the better off they will be.
Lay off the Goldschlager, Joey Buttafucco..
Lay off the Goldschlager, Joey Buttafucco..
Lmao!!
Non-contact jersey but expected to be back in a week or so. Guessing the Leafs on the 8th may be his return date.
