Monday Night is looking like a shootout. Both teams can't get to the qb. If DRC can go, then we can put Bowman on TJ Hilton and hope for the best, but that is going to be a huge matchup problem for us.
And, while our offense has gotten much better from Detroit, our offensive efficiency is not great, which is also problematic in a matchup that promises to be a shootout, we will need to efficient. We can't have drives that get too the 40 yard line and stall.
Pittsburgh was really efficient and we need to be to. It is possible and I think this games gives us our best chance to win in the next four weeks.
Defensively, we've got a lot of problems and Luck will be licking his chops. The Colts as a whole are going to be very motivated after losing and giving up 50+.
NYG needs a win otherwise reaching 8 wins will be very difficult.
look at PHI and DAL - they don't have injuries? look at ATL....they gave DET all they could handle. They don't have injuries?
at this level the back-ups are expected to be ready to go and keep the team competitive.
I don't think they're going to be bad enough for a top 10 pick.
Look at the schedule after November 20th:
Jaguars, Titans, Redskins, Rams, Eagles.
The bigger problem, of course, is getting the defense off the field on third down.
this worries me +1
bradshaw 150+ yards, multiple TDs
they play angry and we back down from them. luck and pagano grinning about how easy it is to move the ball. book it
With our defense and the master mind running it...we have no chance to stop any team with a winning record. Shoot out..?..now that's hilarious. ...shoot out...
Now all of a sudden we HAVE to be balanced. Would anyone be shocked if TC inserted himself into the playcalling? What I'm not sure of is why.
bing.
You all might be correct in your assessment of this team. But to be turning off a game in the 3rd quarter, if you really are a fan, is pretty surprising. To already be looking forward to the draft, after only 7 games have been played, is really kind of depressing, if you really are a fan looking forward to a season of Giants football.
Maybe you guys are just fans of "winning Giants football".
Whatever, to each his own. But when you come onto a Giants website, because you are excited about it being football season, and having another Giants season to follow, and looking for others that are eagerly anticipating the next game, and read about how the season is over for so many of you, it really is a downer.
For that matter Chi and Indi also, for sleeping pills in the Gatorade bucket.

Sorry Joe. Its just not important enough for me to watch and let this team put me in a bad mood. I'd rather turn it off early and go do something productive to take my mind off of it. Football isn't as important to me as it used to be. Still love the team but I refuse to let them ruin my weekend. Maybe that doesn't make me a true die hard fan. =) I'm ok with that.
And their defense is nothing special, as evidenced by yesterday's performance.
We'll see what happens.
I share your attitude with other teams I follow, baseball, SF Giants fan since 1962, don't watch regular season games, but keep an eye on them, same with Celtics. Don't have the time to invest in following those teams like I do the Giants.
However, Giants are once a week, and only 16 regular season games, and since I do it with family, I do invest the energy.
They're undoubtedly going to do the same thing they did against Dallas (and sort of tried to do against the Eagles): force the run, being straight out run-first to be blunt, until late in the third quarter or early fourth when there is zero other option but to throw the ball and by then, it'll be too late anyway for it to matter one way or another.
Except the Colts won't let them sort of hang around like Dallas did. They'll just pour it on, exploiting the Giants' lack of pass rush and weakened (and, at times, as always, confused) secondary, especially coming off a big loss, and it'll be a wrap probably by the half. Coughlin, after the game, will again go on about how they have to keep running the ball heavily because if they throw the ball more or pass to set up the run, they will just turn it over.
We also had a game that didn't register a single punt (GB/NO) and that's the second time this year we've seen that after it had only happened one time in NFL history (1992, IIIRC)
The league wanted more "excitement" and more offense and now it is just very difficult to play defense.
The defenses people remember from their childhood (and really, not even that long ago) just don't exist anymore so you'd better be able to put points on the board because if you can't do it in today's NFL, you're toast. People will say "well, the Seahawks won with defense last year" but they were also a top 10 scoring offense.
If we're going to have any chance at winning this football game next Monday night, we're going to have to win the turnover battle and put a healthy amount of points on the board. Otherwise, forget it.
OK, Philly had one bad year before Kelly.

Good post. Unfortunately our coach, despite being forced to hire a new offensive coordinator with a more modern offense, refuses to acknowledge the game has changed. Winning is not the ultimate goal - the ultimate goal is to have a perfect balance of run and pass plays.
I love the Giants but the NFL as a whole becomes less attractive to me with every passing year.
Again, unless Reese & Ross are removed, pinning hope on draft picks is not advisable.
This year more than ever it feels like the best defense is an offense that can move the ball up and down the field and put points on the board.
The standards for defense are so ridiculously low now. People were getting excited at how "well" Arizona played the Eagles offense yesterday and Foles threw for over 400 yards. People were praising LeBeau's defense for continuously pressuring Luck. He also threw for 400 yards and dropped over 30 points.
There used to be a time where multiple NFL teams had excellent defenses. Who has a defense right now that intimidates you? Even teams that were top tier defenses last year like Seattle and Carolina aren't great this year.
If we have been as "competitive" as Dallas has over the past 12 years, people on BBI would be calling us doormats. Fuck - if even 2 SB wins can't keep people from thinking Dallas has been better, I don't know where the fuck we can go with this argument.
This team isn't benefitting much from what everyone else seems to be (changes to the rules to benefit the offense/passing game) while still being hurt by what everyone else is (changes to the rules to the detriment of the defense).
Luck is a guy who, if you send extra blitzers, can be very elusive and if you let him buy time with his feet, he will KILL you down field by shredding the 1 on 1 coverages.
I think Rob Ryan pretty much sucks but the Packers expected him to send a ton of pressure and thought Rodgers would be able to completely exploit that vertically by finding guys like Cobb and Nelson singled up and he actually didn't do that and it worked out decently even though they still gave up a lot of yards in the end.
Fewell played them similarly in 2012 and did quite well.
Our front 4 will be the key to this game.
Most of Eli's passes this year, are short passes.....if this offense gets behind early, it's like blood in the water....
This offense has no speed, outside of OBj.....I don't expect Jennings back, and if he was available, how effective would he be?
But it's just the opposite for a TC team....he gets a lead, and sits on it, instead of going for the jugular, and this allows teams back into the game....
Quote:
I, for one, am frustrated teams like Philly and Dallas can stay competitive every year sometimes with inferior rosters and the Giants can't despite two SBs.

Yeah, I'm a little lost on that one too. Going back to 2005:
2005 - Giants 11-5 (lost WC), Cowboys 9-7 (missed playoffs)
2006 - Giants 8-8 (lost WC), Cowboys 9-7 (lost WC)
2007 - Giants 10-6 (won SB), Cowboys 13-3 (lost to Giants)
2008 - Giants 12-4 (lost DIV), Cowboys 9-7 (missed playoffs)
2009 - Giants 8-8 (missed playoffs), Cowboys 11-5 (lost DIV)
2010 - Giants 10-6 (missed playoffs), Cowboys 6-10
2011 - Giants 9-7 (Won SB), Cowboys 8-8 (missed playoffs)
2012 - Giants 9-7 (missed playoffs), Cowboys 8-8 (missed playoffs)
2013 - Giants 7-9 (missed playoffs), Cowboys 8-8 (missed playoffs)
The Cowboys have been consistent only in their mediocrity, and haven't had even ONE signature win in all that time. Not one.
In the same time, the Eagles have had seasons of 4-12 and 6-10, missed the playoffs twice at 8-8, and have won a whopping three playoff games.
Fans of both teams would trade places with us in a heartbeat.
