NFT: Slingbox question

River Mike : 10/27/2014 12:15 pm
From what info I can find, the slingbox can send programming from my home Direct TV set up to a remote computer or smartphone. Can it send to a remote TV, in a hotel for instance, or at least to a smart TV?
You need a client to receive Slingbox content

and as far as I know, short of a TV with a Roku or similar bearing a Slingbox app, you're out of luck.
as long as the tv has a slingplayer option...

if you by a roku stick and have slingplayer on your phone, you can do it that way
Best way to do it in a hotel

is to pull it down to your computer, and then hook up your laptop to the TV. It's easier these days that most TVs and many laptops have HDMI ports.

The real difficulty you'll find is the hotel internet speed.
some people call it a slingbox

also works with google chromecast, but you need one of the newer model slingbox for it to work. I use mine via roku stick all the time. you just need the app on your phone as well (app is $15).

or you can just hook the computer to your tv.

The older model will work with chromecast if you use the facebook app for slingbox and then cast that tab.
Thanks guys.
