Saw a few interesting tweets from Staple and figured I'd start a discussion.
(1) Hamonic is likely out again tomorrow, but Capuono expects that he'll be going on the road trip with the Islanders (thus no IR).
(2) The news on Bailey is "better than initially expected." He was skating this morning and has a good chance of travelling with the Islanders for the road trip.
If Bailey is ready to go, I'd love to slot him up in Conacher's spot on the first line. He looked really good before he got hurt and would add some defensive balance to our #1 line. Also, Bailey's tendency to pass first instead of shoot the puck might work into our favor when he's playing on a line with JT and KO.
As for Bailey on L1, I'd be fine with that. What made the top line so dangerous last season is that Vanek was a skilled enough player that between the three of them, all three could create space with the puck and the opposing D had to respect that. With Conacher in, the strategy is easy...knock Conacher down and have 2-3 guys attack JT. We need someone who can drive possession and create plays. Which ironically is why Lee actually isn't the best fit on L1 (not that he'd be a bad choice). Ideally, it's a guy like Grabbo, but I have no interest in messing up the Grabbo-Fransie-Kulie line. If we were any other team, that's a line you look at and realize that you'd hate to have to play against them.
1st place Islanders is new for all of us.
That's ridiculous if true.
Galdoff? Same hack who swore there was no sale????
If the Rangers aren't playing and you're in the mood for whiney bitches, Lifetime Channel is on 24/7. If not , a Rangers thread should suffice.
Congrats - in 8 games, that is the only bonified playoff goaltender you have beaten this year. How nice it must be to go to Boston .... and face Niklas Sedvberg. Or have Dallas come to town.... and face Anders Lindback.... while their all-star goalies take the night off.
4 backups faced in 8 games. 2-2 against NHL starters, and yes I counted one of Carolina's goalies as a starter.
This thread is a keeper. Keep up the great work.
Upcoming road trip is going to be a challenge so it would be nice to take care of the Jets tonight and head out west at 7-2.

LOL - your tears, they taste so delicious!
Yeah, you guys won't have to worry about playoff tie breakers.
Some fans are truly spoiled and can't appreciate success.
Just trying to do our impression of you on Halloween. That would be of a miserable human being
Im the pessimistic Isles fan and no matter what others say about the positives, I will never believe it with this organization. I think after the cubs, jets, and lions, the Isles are the next in line as far as awful organizations.
Was it fun while it lasted?
Unfortunately looks like the lucky run against back-up netminders has ended and thus the Losses have begun. Sucks.
As far as you playing your "back up" - well when your "starter" is a career journeyman on his 4th team in 5 years, I guess you should get used to that.
Suck it, Fish
LOL
Not sure if its an inferiority complex, which wouldn't make sense since we haven't won shit in 30 years or a sense of bravado, which would also be weird since the rangers haven't won shit in 20 years either
Meant no disrepect Fish, just thought it was funny
Except for fuckin Fish who sucks it.. hard.
Now that is very #Jetsfanish
Except for fuckin Fish who sucks it.. hard.
stay all you'd like... just thought it was funny.
besides, we're only a handful of games in. Let's see where we are (and who our coach is) in 2 months...
Troll away boys, keeps our thread reply numbers higher....
As far as this post goes, do or don't give any credit to the Rangers last year. Doesn't matter one iota to me.
Personally I unfortunately have a bad taste in my mouth the way things ended last year. All the blown 3rd period leads, the tight sticks in the overtimes and missed empty nets, just a 5 game series, etc. It was a great run and its hard as fuck in a 30-team league with a hard salary cap to win a Cup - we'll be lucky to see 4 in our lifetimes (probably grouped together because teams tend to cluster their titles)... but its hard to sit here and pound my chest about 2nd place.
