NFT: Men's wearhouse or Joseph A Bank

mitch300 : 10/27/2014 3:27 pm
Looking to buy a suit for my niece's wedding. I only wear suits for weddings and barmitvah's. My last suit was 7 y/o. Doesn't fit anymore. So I'm looking to not pay alot for a suit. Which place do you guys suggest. Both are within a hlf mile of each other. In the past I have always went to Men's. Seeing alot of commercials of JOS A Bank.
I have had nothing but terrible experiences

at Men's Warehouse, across 3 or 4 different locations. I personally have not shopped at Joseph A. Bank, though.

Jos A Bank seems to have ridiculously inflated prices

and then give you huge discounts. The suits do not seem to be very good in quality, but if this is a wear it once and throw it in the closet, then that's not much of a worry.

I might try a place like Marshall's, etc. The selection they have varies widely, but you can find good deals there.
Won't get a nice suit at either one

but I would have to guess that MW is a tiny bit better
If you have a car

I'd drive up to Woodbury. Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers can probably get you into a much nicer suit at a similar or slightly higher price point -- maybe $300. Yes, the stuff there is made for outlets, but I've looked at MW and JAB, and the Woodbury offerings are far superior.

So you didnt like the way you looked? But their former CEO used to guarantee it. Did you ever take him up on that guarantee? What'd he do for you?
Thanks

if it's for something of rare use go to whichever has the better sale that day and spend the savings to make sure it fits you properly.
Problem with Bank

Is the suits are way overpriced. Then they have good sales, but they're of the Buy 1 get 3 free variety. Unless you need a bunch of suits, it's not much use.
Always had a terrible experience at Mens Warehouse

by me, was perfect for your situation. Get a suit off the rack and take it to a good tailor, looked great.

This one closed though dont know if the whole chain went out of business.
If you are a 42 regular

then go to Banks. If you are a bigger guy, Mens warehouse sells larger sizes. Suits are similar.

Unless you need 3-4 suits, warehouse will be cheaper.

They were snobby for no reason, sold me a suit on sale then charged me $70 for alterations. Typical chain - you're better off going to JC Penney's or even Macy's.
