Some notes from listening to both of these guys.
Both feel "training wheels" need to come off of this new offense so to speak. Need to score points in this league.
Coughlin likes what Randle has been doing, EXPECTS to see more.
Reese would like to see Williams improve on reading his blocks. Can't just take the ball and crash into the line. Was doing this better in pre-season, needs to get back to that.
Coughlin and Reese both complimented Prince on his play through 7 games. Played Dez really well outside of one play in which he gambled and lost (when Bryant got down to the 1 yard line).
Reese said JPP is back and playing at an extremely high level. Mentioned how those around him need to take advantage of matchups created by the attention JPP requires.
Both feel very comfortable with McLain stepping in for Beason. No surprise here as this has already played out over the course of the first half.
Both taking the "9 game season" approach. Reese feels the division will tighten before all is said and done. TC says message is to play above the X's and O's.
I liked the sense of urgency I heard from both and I can only hope this plays out on the field as well in terms of TC being more aggressive whether it be game-planning or in game decisions. They are going to be a heavy underdog for the next month or so so let's see if we can't steal 2 wins by breaking some of the usual conservative tendencies.
There are low expectations for playoffs and the next 4 are more than tough, but if they can still alive through this stretch the remaining schedule would indicate they can play some meaningful football into December which I'll sign for at this point.
On WFAN?
nonetheless, TC has also shown an ability to "self-scout" and correct what he is doing wrong. Let's hope that's what happens over the bye.
yeah that run, run, run, punt really set the tone....
it seems to me that any time he's done anything good for the team it's been management having to force his hand... stop throwing embarrassing tantrums on the sideline, stop being a dick to the press, stop alienating all the players by treating them like bad children, lose gilbride and import a new offensive system.. have i missed anything?
the blowout losses throughout his entire tenure, but particularly the recurring shutouts over the last several seasons are too much to ignore at this point. i think his time has more than passed, regardless of how "energetic" he is in his old age. i can't help but regard him as part of the problem.
Second, losing W. Thurmond really hurt too as he was a solid 3rd corner. Can you imagine a backfield with both a healthy Thurmond and Will Hill?
Third, Victor Cruz injury.
Fourth, Odell Beckham's hamstring injury which held him back and out of the first few games.
Imagine our offense had Beckham been able to practice and play along with Cruz?
You can't have everything but I think these things hurt most. The Schwartz injury is harder to gauge but I guess that hurt too.
Injuries are part of the game but we don't have the depth to overcome the number we've had to date.
2012 Bradshaw and Jacobs fade, we lose Andre brown and the offense goes flat.
2013 Andre brown is hurt before week 1 and David Wilson isn't ready and the offense can't move after week 1.
2014 we are running the ball effectively through 4-5 games only to lose Jennings this time. Offense is once again mediocre at best.
We needed to add more RB and WR and TE talent this offseason. Adding Jennings was nice. Adding beckham was nice. Need more.
I think reese wants tc to get more deep balls. ..
run better. Ect.....but neither seemed worried about
D....I see that as big concern. ..I think off. will get
Better
and I think tc knows jennings isnt coming
back soon and for long....I think he
will be injured all season..Thats why we needed
to sign Jones...or someone and got time w
bye to acclimate. ...

He's having the best year of his career with the Colt's powerful offense. Splitting time with former overall third pick Trent Richardson he is outrushing Richardson 371/4.9 against 358/3.5. He is third on the team in receptions with 31 for 264 yards and 6 TDs. He's scored eight of the Colt's 28 touchdowns. Big fan favorite.
Just another blunder by Reese and his anti-veteran ways.
