Redskins have some talented players on offense and defense

joe48 : 10/28/2014 5:06 am
Watching the game last night made me think of how lacking in talent we are at this phase of the season due to injuries and poor drafting. The Giants are thin in talent compared to the other teams in our division and our defensive coach is not capable of putting together a creative scheme that can attack our different opponents. Opponents know our defensive schemes and tendencies which do not change much week to week. This is why I do not view us as a playoff team this year.

is that we could have and should have played better against the Cowboys and Eagles.

Irk is putting it mildly, infuriating is more like it.

I think what we've learned is that if our offensive line is having a good day then watch out. If they don't - we lose.

Yeah, watch out so long as NYG's offensive gameplan doesn't castrate it's QB, which it did last Sunday.
Defensive play calling
WideRight : 10/28/2014 7:55 am : link
Wash called all-out blitzes on three consecutive plays in the 4th quarter! And multiple other very aggressive calls.

Fewell can't do it. Just not capable.

There has always been a certain subset of people here who apparently live in perpetual fear of the Skins for some reason. Every time they win a game, these people think "ooooh they're actually a good team that's turning the corner!"

Hilarious.
Why do people keep saying we put forth a shitty effort
jcn56 : 10/28/2014 8:11 am : link
against the Cowboys?

We lost, I get it, but we didn't get blown out and we match up differently against them than do the Skins. The Skins were also playing with house money - no expectations of them with McCoy behind center and a record worse than ours.

The shitty effort came against Philly. That one I could see being pissed about, and remaining pissed about it for some time.
Look at their personnel on offense

WR - Jackson, Garcon
RB - Morris

We do not have this talent level on our team. In addition, we have HC and DC who are unimaginative. They beat Dallas with a 3rd string quarterback. When was the last time our TALENTED team pulled off this kind of victory?

This is high level trolling

I can see the argument that the Philly game has probably tainted my view of the Cowboys game. That game was one of the worst efforts of in the last 10 years.

My problem is with the Cowboy game, that it was the Giants have a 14-7 lead and get outscored 24-7 from that point on. The 7 came after getting down 28-14 which was followed by the defense not being able to get off the field until the game was sealed.
People keep talking about our bad showing against Eagles and Cowboys
joe48 : 10/28/2014 8:29 am : link
Aren't these the teams in our division we have to beat?
I like a few of their guys on defense...
arcarsenal : 10/28/2014 8:30 am : link
Breeland was impressive last night, I've been impressed by Riley Jr. a few times over the past couple years.. Kerrigan is obviously a good player, Robinson is pretty good.. Trent Williams is still a really good OT.. good WR's, pretty solid RB's.

But.. Colt McCoy.

The guy did an admirable job last night but that's not an NFL caliber starting QB. None of those 3 guys in that QB carousel there are going to ever get it done.

They have some good players but they're still the Redskins, they still pretty much suck and they're still the team we made look like a peewee football squad just a few weeks ago.
Breeland may have played the game of his life last night
Greg from LI : 10/28/2014 8:32 am : link
But trust me - I see the Skins every week. He's not actually good.
We hung 45 on those bums in their house in primetime.
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/28/2014 8:33 am : link

That said, Breeland did the best job this side of Richard Sherman defending Dez Bryant. Great individual performance.
They threw at Bryant 5 times
dep026 : 10/28/2014 8:36 am : link
he had 3 catches and dropped a 4th.

If you rewatch the game, you will notice Romo barely even looked at Bryant. Bryant was open A LOT but Romo didnt have time to throw it to him.
Sorry
dep026 : 10/28/2014 8:36 am : link
thre to him 7 times, and he dropped 2 (one across the middle and one in the end zone).

He's a rookie who was taken in the 3rd rd. For a guy who hasn't even played a full NFL season I thought he played well last night. Not calling him an all-pro but it's possible the guy can play. He's played a half of one season.
it's possible

Hadn't shown anything before last night, though.

fuckstain going to do this for all the other teams?

Yesterday he had a post saying the Giants aren't as talented as the Steelers and won't be able to beat the Colts. Today it is the redskins.

I still struggle to figure out what synapses come together for some of these cocks to think "Hey! There's a topic that's worth posting!"
well, to be fair
Greg from LI : 10/28/2014 8:50 am : link
Being pessimistic about beating the Colts makes plenty of sense.

Being worried about the Redskins, on the other hand, is pure idiocy.

What are you talking about with Morris? He hasn't rushed for 100 yards in like 14 games.
Either a troll or just another kneejerk fan

Redskins win a game, they are great
Cowboys lose a game, they stink

Next week
Redskins lose, they stink
Cowboys win, SB baby
Isn't it funny.....
Doomster : 10/28/2014 9:59 am : link
We manhandle Washington.....Dallas manhandles us in the second half and beats us....and yet, Washington beats Dallas with a 3rd string qb.....a rookie corner comes into the game and shuts down Dez Bryant?

In the NFL, it's not a matter of win/loss records, it's a matter of matchups.....

Think the Giants could have blitzed the Cowboys and got the same results as the 'Skins? I don't think so....

It's been a crazy season thus far...teams that have started off hot are now cold.....some that got off to a bad start, Indy 0-2, Pats 2-2, are back.....

If Romo's back is in question, this puts a definite damper on the their season....but, should Romo have gone back in the game, after the backup led them to 10 points?....Dallas dodged two bullets when Romo fumbled, and a great play by his receiver saved an int in regulation....

We are at the midpoint of the season......anything can happen from this point on, and I wouldn't be surprised....it will be one of the teams, that is still in the hunt, and playing well at the end of the season, that will be the one to watch out for....and it could be anyone....

But I just don't think the Giants have enough horses to do it......The loss of Beason, the hole at safety, DRC in and out of the lineup, lack of a pass rush...can this OL get back on track? Can OBj accelerate on the learning curve? Will Jennings, not only come back, but can he play at the same level as he left? Will Donnell make an appearance again?

The NFC East leaders are faltering....the Giants have had two weeks to get ready for this game....this game may be their season....

don't talk the other team up to make our loss

acceptable... the only difference I saw last night was their DC... Jim Haslett, of all people... showed some balls.

they were playing with house money.
Balls to the wall, took risks that succeeded, playing the kids, in part out of necessity.
On that last point, and after JRs presser comment yesterday about wanting to see the kids on the field, esp. DaMonster (similar to what JM said about Jernigan), I think we see more Bromley, Behre, and Wynn, the rest of the year.
Or TC will 'retire'.
