"How are you doing this morning?" is street harassment?
Jeez.
Cam, a woman summed it up already better than I could:- I believe it is absolutely harassment within this context and environment:
"Most of us have (to one degree or another) a socially-conditioned reflex to be polite and respond to someone who greets us. Each of those comments, even the "have a nice day" ones come with an implicit obligation to respond. Imagine if once every six minutes all day some stranger expected you to respond to them simply because they wanted you to.
It's not one incident, it's the constant weight of expectations."
...you'll have the fun of walking down the street with your daughter while the @$$holes ogle her... plus knowing that it would be a lot worse if Daddy weren't there.
Good times, believe me. That particular video is pretty mild stuff.
out of ten hours of walking seems about as bad as aggressive panhandling. Granted, the creeper who walked next to her for five minutes was significantly worse than the people talking to her.

would've been a better video than the one they made. There were very few egregiously bad comments in that clip.
But if they were able to put something together of dudes staring at her T&A throughout the day, now that would've been a better window into the ridiculousness of men.
It's annoying not being able to take a leisurely 10-hour stroll without some creepy chick checking out my ass or making lewd comments or gestures toward me every 10 minutes.
The 2 guys following her is ridiculously creepy and hard to watch

Yeah, well, what about that looney Aussie who kept going around saying "G'Day" to everyone. Shit, he couldn't even walk down the street without causing a mess!
The two guys walking with her, no doubt. If she told him to piss off, he would have left earlier.
How many of you have walked down the street with people saying hello? After 10 hrs it would be annoying, I guess. But a few block walk and a half dozen hellos isn't harassment.
Save it for the bars or clubs, where there are other people and a setting that makes sense. Don't do that shit to women who are just walking by themselves.
If a woman wants your opinion on her beauty or looks, she'll ask you for it.
actually think these guys are saying a friendly hello? I'd say it's a bit different than some annoying clerk telling you to have a nice day, no? I don't know if every girl in NYC has this experience all day long but I can certainly see how one would label constant, unwanted attempts by total strangers to get your attention as harrassing in nature...
...I have a habit of greeting nearly every person I pass. Grew up in the hospitality industry so it is reflex. So if I say hello to somebody I pass, or have a good day...I am harassing them? I never knew what a vile bastard I am.
In the context there is a tone to their "greetings" that hints at the expectation of more. Plus, most of them followed up their greeting with a question. There was a clear hope or expectation for a response and they were not innocent in nature.
some of those guys crossed the line but others just said hello
If she was a really good looking woman. Would it had been worse or are men less likely to harass the really smokin hot woman.
I was thinking the same thing. She wasn't really particularly attractive. She wasn't ugly and she had curves in places a man could admire. But, she also wasn't a beautiful woman with an "ideal" body. What would this video have yielded with a more attractive woman.

H07, no. I strongly believe the backdrop and culture of NYC heavily influences the example in the video above.
Southern Hospitality, for instance, a 'Howdja do' upon some southern amble is different.
To me its all highly contextual, and a reminder that in a country this large there ought to be very little application of one size fits all.
Everytime she leaves her apartment? To me the point of the video is the ever-present nature of it. This isn't an experiment for the women living in New York, but an everyday all the time experience. It's not as if they need to survive ten hours of it and then are done with it.
With that body she needs to do another 10 hours daily

Is it really an everyday experience if it takes 10 hours of walking to yield 2 min of video?
The guys who walked with her, Mr Silent and Mr AmI Ugly, took it way to far but the majority while unwanted I would say fall short of harassment.

And now I have a nearly 12 month old daughter... Fml.

Secondly, I expected much worse.

You're the Pete Rose of BBI. No HOF for you!

I guess it's really the situation that makes the difference.
Gimme a break.
Pretty sure he got a new set of heels and wanted pointers.

I was anti gun about a year ago....
If she does, she's leading them on.
It's absolutely harrassment. Nobody is saying things to her just to be nice.
Yeah I can see how that would get confused with
"Somebody's acknowledging you for being beautiful. You should say thank you."
