NFT: World Series Game 7 Tonight

Route 9 in LEH : 10/29/2014 11:29 am
A game 7 in the world series has a sarting matchup between Jeremy Guthrie and Tim Hudson? Nice!

Back to back shutout games in the last two contests between these two teams. Who are you pulling for tonight? I got Kansas City winning on their home field tonight 6-5. Hopefully we see some great baseball tonight

I'm no baseball expert, but bunting one of your hottest hitters for a dude who is 0 for 16 or something against the pitcher makes no sense no?

Didn't work, obviously, but it's higher percentage to bunt the runner and have two shots at a base hit to tie.

At a 2-0 count no way is it higher percentage. Especially when the next guy is 0 for 16 against the pitcher too. The bunt, no matter which way you slice it, made zero sense.
He'll get through
bob in tx : 10/29/2014 10:26 pm : link
the 8th.
He's settled in now, he's going to start mowing them down.
arcarsenal : 10/29/2014 10:27 pm : link
Not good if you're KC.
if he can get through
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 10:27 pm : link
the 8th I'm not sure why they didn't just start him

Steve Perry wearing eye black makes zero sense.
These aren't great teams (good but not great)
dpinzow : 10/29/2014 10:30 pm : link
but we are getting a terrific Game 7 which is all you can ask for. KC has to get Bumgarner out of there somehow before it is too late
Bumgarner is just one of those guys..
arcarsenal : 10/29/2014 10:31 pm : link
I really thought he could have started this game. It might not matter if he can give them 2 more and get to Casilla but the guy is just a horse.
your chances
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 10:33 pm : link
of scoring a run with a guy on 1st and 0 outs are better than your chances of scoring a run with 1 out and a guy on 2nd. Of course it's greater than if you have a guy on 1st and 1 out but you're assuming an out there if you think that way. Bunting decreases your chances to score vs swinging away
the Giants
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 10:34 pm : link
may not be a great regular season team but if they finish this off and win 3 of the last 5 titles it's hard to not call them a great team
How does Kershaw feel watching Bumgarner?
Sean : 10/29/2014 10:35 pm : link
after he shit the bed in the postseason.

I was totally wrong about the bunt. But not Steve Perry. (BTW, they should have had Perry sing God Bless America).
Don't bunt... - ( New Window )
3 biggest plays in this game so far
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 10:42 pm : link
Bunt, Infante trying to bare hand a ball he didn't have to and slipping as a result, and by far the biggest one the Panik play
If I'm Bochy
PetesHereNow : 10/29/2014 10:42 pm : link
that's my horse on the mound... he gets me 7 more outs, and I win the series. I would not take him out. He is throwing beautifully.

If he has an 8th the way he just had the 7th, I agree with you. The Royals are completely outmatched against him right now and hes not laboring one bit.
Depends how fast he gets through the 8th.
arcarsenal : 10/29/2014 10:46 pm : link
If he does it 1-2-3, I'd be awfully tempted to give him the ball back.
His postseason ERA is 0.26
PetesHereNow : 10/29/2014 10:47 pm : link
Holy shit.
I'd go to Casilla

Would be a great DH.
If the Yanks didn't have eight DH's or so
PetesHereNow : 10/29/2014 10:51 pm : link
I'd seriously consider giving Sandoval money for 3B/DH. Yanks need good hitters like him.

The problem is while he's been decent he's never really been a good hitter. He's been a good hitter 2 out of 6 full years and an average one the other 4. Expecting him to now become a consistently good hitter would be a mistake.
He'd be a beast

At Yankee Stadium but they have at DH Arod,Tex,Beltran,McCann, just to name a few.

I think what is so appealing about what he's done in this series is that he's hitting the other way, and none of our LH batters do that consistently except for maybe Ellsbury.
They just can't hit him.
arcarsenal : 10/29/2014 11:01 pm : link
I'd give the ball back to him.
if Casilla
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 11:01 pm : link
isn't starting to stretch yet he's not coming in. I said Casilla earlier but didn't realize he's only thrown 2/3 of an inning in basically 2 weeks
I think you gotta let him finish this
PetesHereNow : 10/29/2014 11:02 pm : link
it's effortless, he's making the KC lineup look like little leaguers. I've never seen such weak contact other maybe the Yankees of the last 2 seasons, lol.

Left handed hitter would love short RF. Can also go the other way which a lot of our guys can't.

3 more outs
Baumgarner is taking this one home.

Bochy has to leave him in now.

one of the greatest World Series pitching performances
WeatherMan : 10/29/2014 11:03 pm : link
of all time by Bumgarner. There's no way you take him out of the game.
they had their chance
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 11:03 pm : link
when he first came in and Ned Yost decided it would be a good idea to give up an out with a 2-0 count and Bumgarner all over the place.

Yost got away with his asinine moves in the wild card play in game, he's not going to get away with this one.

I still have no idea why Bumgarner didn't start the game if they had him available for this many innings.
ugh Bumgarner

People automatically assume that will magically make a non home run hitter a home run hitter, like Ellsbury last year, how'd that work out?

He has 58 home runs in 4 years. Actually has more at home than on the road.

If they sign him, I'll be very surprised if it's not a really bad signing. He hasn't posted an 800+ OPS since 2011
