Route 9 in LEH : 10/29/2014 11:29 am
A game 7 in the world series has a sarting matchup between Jeremy Guthrie and Tim Hudson? Nice!

Back to back shutout games in the last two contests between these two teams. Who are you pulling for tonight? I got Kansas City winning on their home field tonight 6-5. Hopefully we see some great baseball tonight

performance by Bumgarner. Still not sure why he didn't start the game, but it worked out for the Giants.

Congrats Giants fans.

Amazing game. Bumgarner was amazing.

Bumgarner was simply legendary. Balls of steel on that guy.

3 titles in 5 years, amazing accomplishment

The Kings/Warriors game (boring as shit, thanks to a billion fouls) and the fans went absolutely nuts and spoiled the ending for me. Didn't consider that possibility.

with a miserable failure tonight. They may play hard for him, but when he has to make critical decisions he's generally terrible. The players bailed him out in the wild card play in game, they didn't tonight.

How does Bochy explain not starting Bumgarner tonight? Forget that it worked out, he put Hudson out there for no reason. If not for his offense getting the 2 runs in the 2nd inning there's a good chance Bumgarner never is able to have that kind of impact in the game. Especially with the Royals bullpen, you should want him in there ASAP and not wait and potentially let the Royals jump out to a big lead.

He'll get praised for leaving him in, but I think it was a really dumb decision to not just let him start the game if he had 60+ pitches in him.
That was awesome.

He wa doing the tomahawk chop early in the game, he's a big FSU fan apparently. Didn't see what he was doing late in the game
Perez should have brought

Gordon

is going to be thinking about the way he ran to first and not rounding the base properly for the rest of his life. I think they send him if he runs his ass off out of the box and cuts the base properly
All credit to our baseball namesakes

They become the 5th franchise to win 3 world series in a 5 year span, which means there is an argument for them as an all-time great team

Yankees (obviously)
A's (with Connie Mack in the dead ball era and the 3 in a row in the 1970s)
Red Sox (during WWI)
Cardinals (during and immediately after WWII, 1942, 1944, 1946)
Great job by the Royals fans

Agree..if they let him throw 60. Yost messed up with escobar bunting..great chance to get to Bumgarner off the bat when he was wild. Then, Gordon not making that a score. But, give it to Bumgarner..what a performance these WS's

That is what I find head scratching with Bochy. He stated last night that Madison is "human" when asked why he wasn't starting him tonight.

If it starts to play out like last night where Hudson gets yanked early and he immediatly goes to Bumgarner...then why not start him in the first place?

because he's not going to be able to give you more than a couple innings.

Did you forget you posted this?

Of course not. That's the only explanation for him not starting the game. But that clearly was not the case, I assumed it was since he was not starting. If he can give you 60+ pitches, you start him, no question
Bumgarner is the best money pitcher in baseball

heart of a champion

he basically just willed the team to win a postseason they had no business winning

He deserves it. Giants won 3 championships without ever having the most talented roster. Bochy knows how to manage a pen better than anyone around today

Probably but there was still lingering doubts because his overall managerial record is barely above .500. But tonight seals the deal for sure
Damn that Chevy guy was nervous lol

Bochy
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 11:44 pm : link
basically just said they had his pitch count about where he ended, so figure 70.

Knowing that, you have to start him. His offense bailed him out because if the Royals get up in that game going into the 5th inning they are bringing the game home. He risked Hudson/Affeldt giving up 3-4 runs and never being able to use Bumgarner in a big spot to save him and I'm still puzzled why.

If he only has a couple innings, then you use him in the middle of the game wherever you need it. That's what everyone assumed going into the game. But based on what Bochy said, that was clearly not their plan.

I hope someone asks him about this in the post-game. I'm sure they'll all be too busy talking about how much of a genius he was saving him til the 5th.

Yost
MookGiants : 10/29/2014 11:50 pm : link
just threw Escobar directly under the bus. Might want to send a doctor in to make sure Escobar is OK after that.

Disgraceful from Ned Yost. 2-0 count and he squared around twice, you put a do not bunt sign on, take the decision out of his hands.
