Barkley: It is unfortunate. We’re not friendly, but I still love him. He’s doing a good job now. What is interesting about your question is Phil Jackson actually said the same thing I said and I wonder if he still speaks to Phil Jackson. I said Michael had to get rid of the people around him. You can’t have your friends working for you; you’ve got to surround yourself with good basketball people. He had not done that. I love what he did with Al Jefferson. I love him going out and getting Lance [Stephenson]. I love the kid Noah Vonleh from Indiana. He’s done a good job, but he had not done a good job up until then. It’s obviously put a strain on our relationship and we’re not together anymore. Is it in Michael’s personality to pick up the phone and reach out to you? Barkley: No (laughs). And it’s not in my personality either. (laughs). I’m not going to call up and apologize for saying what I said. They were setting the record for the worst team in NBA history and I said Michael just has to do a better job. He had to get rid of the flunkies around him and hire real basketball people. He does that now. They have been doing a great job since he got rid of his flunkies and hired basketball people. But he [Michael] can’t hear the good stuff. |
It's a star-driven league. Yeah the Lakers are huge (if temporarily shitty), yeah the Knicks are a big market and a great basketball town, but the strength of the game in terms of rating and marketing has a lot more to do with the names on the back of the jersey than those on the front of it. Because names and faces are recognizable, their personal lives are part of the story.
It's what made him a great player. He was, and is, an absolute MFer.
Yep.
And let's face it, the ownership business was probably the first time he ever endured so much failure. I am sure when it's all said and done he will retain his friendship with barely and the few others he came close too.

Baseball
He did better at baseball than he would've done with a year long ban from Basketball.
Always been a selfish prick - and that's where his killer instinct on the court comes out. I bet he'd still ball hard in today's league with a month of conditioning.
He's a Lawrence Taylor without the charm.
Jealous
That is absolutely untrue.
And MJ was absolutely a douche for taking it personally and not being friends with Barkley anymore...
Friend of mine has seen/met Jordan a few times at a restaurant he frequents, both times with Patrick Ewing so on the surface those 2 remain "friends".
And some people don't know the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath...

Good point, Socio...
Psychologists tend to break down the two groups by certain factors, and they have a lot in common. Both tend to be charming, despite being unable to empathize normally with others. They offer convincing systems of fear and disgust, but tend to lack both. Here’s the crux, though: Psychopaths cross the line. Sociopaths may hole up in their houses and remove themselves from society, while a psychopath is busy in his basement rigging shackles to his furnace.
So Cam is a psycohpath...learn something new every day!
I can see that comparison. LT at least had a sense of humor.
