High School QB Forgets to Take a Knee

GiantFilthy : 10/29/2014 3:26 pm
Never seen anything like this before. It's as if he thought the play and game ends when the clock hits 0:00.

Quote:
The Spanish Fork Dons had a 14-11 lead over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles with 3.7 seconds left on the clock in a Utah Class 4A state play-in game on Tuesday night. On 4th down, all Spanish Fork had to do was run out the clock. The ball was snapped to quarterback Jason Money who ran right as he watched the clock expire. He then just sort of stopped, forgetting that the play had to end. Maple Mountain’s Jason Blanthorn stripped the ball and teammate Brandon Beebe picked it up and returned it 25-yards for the game-winning, season-saving touchdown.

The play is both incredible and heartbreaking depending on which team you identify with during your next viewing of the play. It is an incredible lesson to kids to play to the final whistle and proof that anything can happen. Also, it sucks. The game was over. All he had to do was fall down.

This seems like something Donovan McNabb would have done.
They must have studied the

Two Things here

1. Why not just continue to run out of bounds. As the QB, do you think that because the clock runs out the play stops?

2. No mention in the article about the coach's. How they hell do they not tell the kid to A) take a knee or B) just fall the fuck down and let the clock run out.

it was 4th down, so he had to move around long enough for the clock to go to 0 before he went down. Guess they forgot to remind him he still needed to go down at that point.
im still in shock

Aaaaaah, good ole oversight on my part. Yes, that does indeed make sense as if he would have taken a knee, clock would have stopped and they would have gotten the ball back.

Still does not excuse the fact that he didn't just fall down...

exactly.
Another option would have been

to run backwards to the end zone and give up the safety.
Fitting

If not in blood, he's related to Don Beebe at least in spirit.
Why a shotgun snap?

leaving more to chance, just take the ball under center..
That's what happens when a Spanish team trys to play American football

All kidding aside, while I can't understand how anyone who plays football could do that, I really feel for the kid. How awful for him to be that age and cost his team that much on a mental mistake like that. That is brutal for him to have to go through.

His career numbers include

47 TD's and 42 ints

So he does make quite a few mistakes

Because #6 on the recovering team actually ran ahead of the ball carrier instead of blocking the QB and providing an escort. Just really shitty football all around.

Honestly, the most interesting thing about this

is the reaction of the QB's teammates after the play. Just walking off the field like nothing important happened.

at first they were probably numb in disbelief but the announcer did say that they were throwing their helmets which I assume was anger and frustration.
Question for lawyers familiar with this type of action: what gives the

court jurisdiction to hear this type of case and what gives the plaintiff grounds to sue?

I wonder how the teachers in the school feel about their school's budget being sucked up legal fees regardless of whether they win or lose.
Sucked up BY legal fees. Duh!

this is hilarious and I have no sympathy for the QB. I hope his teammates gave him hell. This is in Utah County which is the county just south of Salt Lake (where I live). It's a very Mormon area, probably the most Mormon area in the world (home to Brigham Young University). The kids parents probably don't even let him watch football on Sunday.
