NFT: The Knicks traed away a legitimate Center Chandler and now..

The SCHEME : 10/30/2014 12:16 am
They have no big man in the middle. No defense again, We finally have a center to work with and we trade him off. That is history now, however they need to make provisions to stack up the bangers in the middle again. Delembert is not the answer. Knicks need to find defenders.

You can drive through the triangle defense and not pay the price of having your shot blocked or get fouled hard. Teams takes on the spirit of the coach. I can't wait to see what the coaches true competitive attitude is. The new coaches have won in the league but, this is East Coast basketball. Physical defensive efforts. It may take a while for the new coach to see how tough the opposing coaches and the media can make it, If the Knicks are soft on defense.
this team is not built for this year.

nor were the moves.
I'm not a Knicks fan
illmatic : 10/30/2014 12:50 am : link
but if you were expecting them to do anything this year with the roster that they have, you have insane expectations. I'd be surprised if they even made the playoffs. The best thing they can do is a land a top pick in the upcoming draft. I'm assuming they have their pick for next year.
Last season, it was impossible to differentiate between

when Chandler actually gave a shit and when he totally quit on the team because he absolutely terrible.
Please don't take this year

seriously.
Chandler was beyond awful last year.
BVPelt : 10/30/2014 2:35 am : link
Trading him away acquired assets, reduced salary and got rid of Felton. It was a great move. It will take time to rebuild a culture that's been broken for decades. Management shouldn't be judged 1 game into the first season.

A team predicted to win 60 plus games... But go on ... Rant on ...lol
Chandler was not the answer IMO.

Is his back bothering him already, he was making motions like it was the other night.
The Knicks are never built for "this year"
ZogZerg : 10/30/2014 7:30 am : link
It's the same thing every year with this sucky franchise.
it seems like just yesterday they were making moves for LeBron. They will never do anything with these owners.

We just got a new President last year... how can you state that we will NEVER do anything with these owners when we JUST started a major re-building and shift in complete philosophy?

derrrr
Triangle defense?
Jim in Fairfax : 10/30/2014 8:05 am : link
It's an offensive system.
Tyson Chandler has been on the way down since his first year.
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/30/2014 8:15 am : link
They got rid of him at the right time. He was godawful.
The Knicks aren't going to be good this year.
arcarsenal : 10/30/2014 8:34 am : link
Anyone with a clue already knew that.

Phil can't do this overnight. It's going to take a little time to clean up the mess and get the right guys for the system and have the guys all be comfortable in it. This isn't really the time to be outraged.
Chandler sucked, and they got some good pieces
Section331 : 10/30/2014 9:10 am : link
for him. Calderon is a very good player, in the right role. He's probably better suited to play off the ball, but he is a deadly shooter.
I can only assume...
Greg from LI : 10/30/2014 9:19 am : link
....that this character never actually watched Chandler play last season.

First game in a difficult new system and playing a far more talented team. Shocker, they got hammered.
Um,
Sergio : 10/30/2014 9:21 am : link
Tyson Chandler stinks. He played with no effort last season and got the flu every other week. He also doesn't fit the triangle either. Trading him was necessary. We're going to sign Marc Gasol, Greg Monroe or another big next summer anyway.

Chandler has a pretty good pre-season and first game.
manh george : 10/30/2014 12:17 pm : link
Maybe he's healthier. Of course, it is unlikely he will stay that way, but Dalembert isn't showing much so far.

And it seems clear that Larkin won't be picked up, probably for good reason based upon early returns. 8 points, 10 rebounds 2 steals against San Antonio in a near-win (1 pt.). Similar play in the pre-season. So it's a possibly revived Chandler for Dalembert, Calderon and Early. And the Greek wonder who may be a player some day.

Still seems decent, unless Chandler shocks everyone by having a complete season. Dalembert has to have more to show than so far, I think.

“I considered them just because of different factors, mainly Phil and Derek being involved, the Knicks being a great organization as well,” Pau said. “It would’ve been interesting, but I thought there were better situations for me.”

That being the Bulls, where he joins Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and coach Tom Thibodeau.

“Overall, I feel it’s a much more balanced team, with better weapons overall,” said Pau, a four-time All-Star. “I fit in better and it’s a team that’s automatically a contender.”

Another factor working against the Knicks, Pau said, was their limited finances because of the salary cap. Pau signed a three-year, $22 million contract with Chicago. The Knicks could offer him just a fraction of that amount.

“I took a pretty significant pay cut already, so that would’ve been a humongous pay cut for me to be in this city,” he said.
I can tell already that Dalembert is going to piss me off
moespree : 10/30/2014 1:03 pm : link
All season. Can't pass, can't defend, and at least yesterday was getting boxed out on almost every rebound.
Dalembert is the lone actual rebounder
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/30/2014 1:38 pm : link
Playing against a team that can roll out Noah, Gasol, and Gibson. No surprises there.
I think Dalembert will prove to be a solid player for us.
kmed : 10/30/2014 1:53 pm : link
Chandler is so overrated and he hasn't been a legit center in a while. Then again, I'm not sure you can blame him for whats been going on under Woodson.
maybe we flip Dalembert
Enzo : 10/30/2014 1:55 pm : link
to a contender for a couple of crappy picks at the deadline. Teams are always looking for size.
