NFT: Galaxy S5 not receiving pictures through texting.

section125 : 10/30/2014 8:21 am
Just got my 1st smart phone, a Galaxy S5 - AT& T. But I'm not getting pictures attached to texts. I just get that icon showing a picture frame where the pic should be. I tried reading about this on various forums, but it was all crap about pictures not making it through the wifi.
Is there a setting on the phone that I need to correct, or is it truly an interface problem between the cell network and the wifi so that the picture is dropped and there is no correction.

Thanks.

td, No problem as I have the 30 gb plan. Going back to your 1st post, so I have to be on data and cannot be on wifi to get the attachment? I would need to shut off wifi?
My friend has the same problem

I wasn't able to find a solution or any discussions of a fix. I tried different texting apps, and didn't change, still no pictures.
While on wifi

the pics still get transferred through your data (4G). Try backing up your phone and doing a factory reset. Have you tried google hangouts to see if it will allow you to receive an mms message?

thanks, from reading various forums that seems to be a concensus. Silly that they could screw that up. Not the worst of mistakes.

I read something about hangouts and found it on the phone, but haven't tried it.
Of course I could go back to the AT&T store. Salesman there knew his shit pretty well.
Thanks.

the person sending you these text messages with photos attached is doing so from an iphone?
iPhones have been able to receive pictures in texts for years.

Nope another S5 - i saw that iphones have a problem. But the other phone is a Galaxy S5.
put up a screen shot.

It usually has to do with the carrier. If it's an icon it may have downloaded the pic. Anyhow I would recommend using hangout application. For many reason including the fact that all the messages are saved. It works just like messages but the app is designed way better than the native messaging app.

I've switch to hangout to see how that works. Thanks. Sounds like it is the carrier and the interface between the cell system and wifi. Not the biggest problem, just thought there was an "easy" fix.

have something "off" in your settings. try putting your phone on the default setting.
