Should have pick up
Zebra3 : 10/30/2014 11:15 am : link
Andre Brown.
Sure

it would be great to have Jennings, but the problem isn't Williams. He is a rookie with a very promising future. He could do a better job waiting for holes to develop, but that will come with practice, and he is already devastating at the second level. The problem is the OL. Can they block well enough for him? And can our WRs and TEs be effective enough so that he isn't looking at eight man fronts all game?
Jennings

Why I am getting the sick feeling the Jennings injury will linger and by the time he makes it back on the field it will be just too late and we our season will down the shitter.

I am getting that feeling too. Williams just needs to get used to being an every down type back in the NFL. In college the holes were always there from snap. Patience is sometimes need in the NFL to allow the blocking schemes time to develop.

Although with our OL, that is few and far between.

Gary Brown redux?
Send ONE 6th round pick to the Raiders
andrew_nyg : 10/30/2014 11:52 am : link
and take Tuck and MJD in return. Help on DLINE depth, and veteran washed up running back.

SUPERBOWL!!
offensive line
Les in TO : 10/30/2014 11:53 am : link
needs to step up big time on monday night.
Jennings is out. So does that mean
eclipz928 : 10/30/2014 12:01 pm : link
the Giants will ease up on running the ball so much and will put the ball in Eli's hands and ask the passing game to rack up some points against one of the highest scoring teams in the league . . . or is that just wishful thinking?
Jennings has been out a while

and Williams can play. Let's hope the blocking is up to snuff and we can have a shot in this game.

Let's see if one of those bizarro games happens where you expect a shoot out and end up with a 20-17 game.
Optimism is nice and all, but Williams 40/G, 3.1 YPC
vibe4giants : 10/30/2014 12:18 pm : link
is not yet the resume one should look at as evidence he 'can play'.

Unless you meant, literally, 'He will be physically able to play' on Monday. In which, yes. Factually true. But not much cause for optimism.
we can win this game without jennings
CGiants07 : 10/30/2014 12:28 pm : link
this game screams eli throwing for over 300

Eric from BBI : Admin : 10/30/2014 12:29 pm : link
which is why we need Jennings...pass receiver/pass pro.
Maybe Cox
BIG FRED : 10/30/2014 12:41 pm : link
will get some snaps this week too
One problem with Williams that I noticed
BlackLight : 10/30/2014 12:56 pm : link
is that, when he runs into the pile at the LOS, he has a bad tendency of getting turned around, so he's basically trying to run backwards and move the pile that way. I remember Jacobs would allow this to happen as well.
Yeah I would like to see more of Cox and less of Hillis on Monday

Blocking is mostly the issue.
It's an issue, for sure.
vibe4giants : 10/30/2014 1:15 pm : link
But having an actual running game was nice, too. Jennings's 79.2/, 4.4 YPC were certainly useful for a stretch.

And I'm not dogging Williams. Just observing that his youth has yet to be proven a good substitute for Jenning's experience.
might see some of Cox too...
Simms11 : 10/30/2014 1:16 pm : link
as he provides a nice change of pace and is also a decent receiver.
Have Williams
mrvax : 10/30/2014 1:25 pm : link
catch a few passes too. Keep the defense honest.
there's a reason he's never been a #1 back
HomerJones45 : 10/30/2014 1:51 pm : link
he's never played a full season, he's missed 11 games in his career and he's never carried the ball more than 163 times in an entire season. He's only had two season where he's averaged as many as 10 carries a game and he was averaging near 20 this season.

Fans were delusional to expect him to make it the entire season without missing a couple of games at least.
TC will
Doomster : 10/30/2014 2:12 pm : link
want ball control, to keep the ball away from Luck....he will try to run the ball, no doubt about it....

But if Luck is hot, and puts points up easily on this defense, and the Giants have to play catch up, then they are in trouble...
Plus,
Doomster : 10/30/2014 2:15 pm : link
how could anyone expect this guy to be playing, without a full week of contact?

Better to air on the side of caution, rather than rush him back like Beason....
I know they seemed to think Jennings would be back Monday
81_Great_Dane : 10/30/2014 2:43 pm : link
but when I hear "sprained knee ligament" I think "8-week injury." Nobody should be surprised this is taking a while.
Blacklight a buddy of mine and I noticed that also
Blue21 : 10/30/2014 3:30 pm : link
Seems he sometimes doesn't square enough and hits the line sideways.
Feel bad for Jennings...
arcarsenal : 10/30/2014 6:12 pm : link
The guy gets hurt and leaves a 3-2 team and will probably come back to a 3-5 or 3-6 team.

I hope we can pull this game out without him but he is such a crucial part of this teams construct. We simply cannot replace his skillset. No one else has it. I'd argue outside of Eli that his absence probably hurts more than anyone else's could.
