FF thread 10-30

Who to start this week? Newton or Eli? I have Eli in since Carolina does not have 3/5 of their starting online playing. Both guards and left tackle are out.

Eli is the wise move
MadPlaid : 10/30/2014 11:46 am : link
If Rothlisberger can toss for 6 tds against the Colts, Eli certainly can do something similar.

I am really hurting at WR this week with both Jeffrey and Cobb on bye. I'm currently starting Hawkins and Moncreif, so I'm obviously pathetic. Would you think it a good idea to pick up Anquan Bolden off waivers and start him?
that's tough
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 10/30/2014 11:46 am : link
I think I'd go with Eli. The Panthers OL situation + Indy giving up a million passing yards last week. I could also see Cam Newton torch the Saints, but Eli feels like the safer play with plenty of upside himself.

What are people's thoughts on Wes Welker the rest of the season? He isn't getting the volume of receptions that we're used to, but Peyton seems to be looking his way in really big spots. That's a good sign imo. I think he eventually gets back to his usual PPR monster self within the next couple of weeks. Agree or Disagree?

I'd go with Reggie Wayne. The Giants pass rush is crap and the secondary is going to be stretched in coverage for Hilton. Could be a very big game for Wayne.

I had Wayne in one league. I'd stay away from him simply because Hilton is the deep threat while Bradshaw and Allen are their endzone targets.

Wayne will be your typical possession/move the chain guy that, at best, can score when Luck throws it to him from the opponent's 15 yard line.

Also, I had my eye on Cooper for awhile. There are many targets on the Eagles but Cooper does seem to get his fair share of long ball from Foles. Maclin gets the majority of them but I see Cooper getting some of those targets.

At the end of the day, both guys are TD dependent but I have this gut feeling that Cooper will pull one in before Wayne.

Flex position:

Larry Donnell vs Colts or
Andre Holmes vs Seahawks

I'm leaning towards Donnell even though the both times I started him, he gave me two donuts in a row.

Def:

Pittsburgh (vs Ravens)
And on waiver...Dolphins (vs Chargers)
And on waiver...Colts (vs Giants)

Obviously, the choices aren't great (Colts facing Giants makes it worse). What's a guy trying to make the playoffs to do?
Wayne is no guarantee to play
UConn4523 : 10/30/2014 1:12 pm : link
so waiting may cost you. His back up (Moncrief?) could be a good play as a pickup if Wayne doesn't start.

For me, i'm deciding between Michael Floyd and Bobby Rainey at my last FLEX. Rainey should get the start with Martin in a walking boot, and Clevelands run D has been poor.

Michael Floyd is poised for a breakout game, but i'm pissed about last weeks donut that came out of nowhere.

Floyd's donut was a God send for me. I traded Crabtree for him after the Floyd's owner got tired of his inconsistency. (Points wise, Crabtree and Floyd are nearly the same).

My WR corp is now:

Nelson, Brown, Floyd, Holmes and Gordon.

This gives me the opportunity to trade one away for a QB or a mid to low RB2 as I'm hurting real bad in those areas:

QB: Ryan, Tannehill
RB: Charles, Fred Jackson, Charles Sims, Doug Martin, Anthony Dixon
i'm liking my mid-season team
UConn4523 : 10/30/2014 1:27 pm : link
i'm 4-4 with a few bad breaks, I see 6-2 as best case scenario with my 4-4 record being pretty much worse case scenario. With Ingram back i'm finally getting production at RB2, and with Brady looking good, I finally have a QB i can depend on.

If I can go 4-2 (8-6 overall) I think I have a decent shot at the playoffs.
You cannot count on Wayne.
kmed : 10/30/2014 1:33 pm : link
I said this when it happened, but his elbow bent the wrong way. I truly believe it's a little more serious than they are letting on. I don't think he will play monday and you can't play him without knowing. Like Uconn said though, Moncrief is a great play and if he's available and you have Wayne, that's a perfect handicap.

some big injuries(my 1st, 4th and 5th round picks are out...calvin, Cruz and Jennings) and I haven't missed a beat.

Brees/Brady
Bernard, Hillman, Forsett, Jennings
Calvin, Maclin, Golden Tate, Andre Johnson, OBJ
Olsen, Vernon Davis

Tied for 1st with the most points.

I'm going to guess you drafted well in 12 team league.

points scored in my league and I'm in last place at 1 - 7. I have the most points against by over 120.

it's uncanny.

In my 2nd league, the less important one because it's not a keeper league, but it's more money, I'm in first with so-so team where I've overcome adversity - lost Adrian Peterson and Victor Cruz as well as Montee Ball (though that turned out to work in my benefit since I stopped playing him). I traded Gronkowski for Arian Foster and that helped since my TE's have been good too.

Speaking of keepers, I can pick up Victor Cruz off waivers and keep him for an 8th round pick. is it worth it? I would more than likely have better keeper options, but never hurts to get waiver wire keepers.

you should cruise into the playoffs.

I still have lots of work, but I feel a lot better about my team now that a month ago.

QB - Brady, Palmer
RB - McCoy, Ingram, Sankey, Rainey, Stewart, Hyde
WR - A. Brown, Jeffrey, Benjamin, Michael Floyd, Beckham
TE - Reed
Def - KC
10 team league(but 3 starting WR's to offset that)
kmed : 10/30/2014 1:44 pm : link
and I drafted ok at best.

Calvin
Brees
Bernard
Cruz
Jennings
Davis
Maclin
Sankey
Tate
Olsen
Steve Smith(dropped him)
Cam Newton(dropped him)
Amendola
Hyde
Pitt
Vinatieri

That's not all that great of a draft when you look back on it. I've done most of my damage in pickups(Hillman, Forsett, Lamar Miller who I traded for Andre Johnson, Brady, OBJ)

My team is similar:
Rodgers/Dalton
Hillman/Forsett/Sims
Demaryius Thomas/Maclin/Steve Smith Sr/Kennan Allen/OBJ
D. Allen/D. Walker

I'm in second place but have won 4 straight.

No excuses pal. You are in last place. Fact.

Seriously though, pts scored is more important than record when evaluating a team, but it's also important to know when they scored the pts. Did you score 250 pts in 1 week and average 100 every other week? If I remember correctly, weren't you leading in pts 3 weeks ago? So you've crapped the bed for 3 weeks now?
trading QB's is always hard
UConn4523 : 10/30/2014 1:49 pm : link
unless its really early in the season. most people usually have atleast a decent QB play, or are confident on any given game their guy can toss 3 TD's, which isn't necessarily un-true.

Personally, i really don't trade. I'll only do it if i'm absolutely hands down winning the trade, or if I have so much depth that someone will take a package of players so I can upgrade (rarely happens).

Mainly I play the waiver wire since injuries happen at an alarming rate.

Depends who his QB is.

I was offered Brady and Hillman for Antonio Brown and I felt uncomfortable with that even though I'm stacked at WR and hurting for a QB and a second RB.

I agree Brady is legit, but how much of an upgrade is he?

Johnson in my league has 70 points less than Nelson, so that seems significant in terms of a downgrade.

Johnson has 55 less pts in my

I've kind of thrown in the towel, I traded away Julio Jones for Kelvin Benjamin (Benjamin is an 11th round keeper), traded Ronnie Hillman for Brandin Cooks (a 10th round keeper) and other small deals like that.

I am now sacrificing points for the future. I had some nice keeper options now and a high draft pick to look forward to. I'm shopping Matt Forte now, who is the #1 non-QB in terms of points in my league. I'd like to get Sammy Watkins and wrap up WR with all keepers. he was a later round pick too.

Well when you look at Brady vs Wilson, you need to look closely. In the past month Brady has been the #1 fantasy player in the league ahead of Peyton. He's had 40 more pts than Wilson in just this past month. You shouldn't factor in the first month.
.
arcarsenal : 10/30/2014 1:55 pm : link
I was trying to shop Brees but there wasn't much interest for me either and I'm thinking I might just be better off anyway. He's going to have more 30pt games like he just had and has a good matchup tonight even out of the dome so I am starting him again.

My team is 3rd in pts now but I am 4-4. I will win again this week because I'm playing the worst team in the league.

It's funny, I hated my draft but actually feel like my team is primed to make a run in my league now especially if Sims emerges in TB

Forte has been unreal, by the way. His pt totals the last like 4 or so weeks have been off the charts. He had a rough 2-3 weeks after week 1 but he is the best fantasy RB for my money right now. He's putting up legit WR numbers on a weekly basis in addition to rushing for some pretty high totals.

Brees/Rivers
Forte/Miller/Tate/J.Hill/I.Crowell/C.Sims
Sanders/A.Johnson/Cooks/OBJ/Holmes
J.Thomas/L.Donnell

Yeah, im merely looking at future projections. I guess if I were him id expect Brady to cool off, and not worth the risk when Russell can easily throw/run for 2 scores a game + rushing yards.

As a Brady owner, I'm hoping he continues to crush it.

I didn't make any excuses. I'm 1 - 7 in that league. points scored are all you can control in FFL (to the extent you can control them by drafting players, picking them up in waivers, trading for them and then putting them in your lineup), points against you have zero to do with. Facts are facts.

And I have not been good at sit/start decisions. Shane Vereen has killed me. Percy Harvin killed me until I traded him, Keenan Allen has killed me. Most weeks I could have won had I started different players - so it's on me somewhat, but not making excuses either way.

In my ten team league
dep026 : 10/30/2014 1:59 pm : link
we also start 3 WRs and a flex. I am 6-2(could easily be 8-0, but could at worst should be 5-3 so Ill settle for 6-2). I have the most points, and thanks to some good waiver wire pickups, I am pretty happy with how the rest of my season can turn out.

QB - Rivers, Ryan
RB - McCoy, Foster, Bradhsaw, Jennings
WR - Brown, Watkins, Lafell, Royal, Josh Gordon
TE - Davis
K - MCManus
D - Chiefs and Ravens

If McCoy can ever get started and Gordon comes back and produces - I should win some money. We pay out for total points too in my league.

WR is definitely a strength and you can use an RB2, but Antonio Brown can win any given week for you and I don't think Hillman will ever score enough or get the ball enough to do that for you.

I like Brady a lot more than Ryan, but A. Brown is the kicker for me.

I like both those guys (Hawkins and Moncrief) long-term, Boldin might score more than one of them this week (Indy has a lot of options), but I'd stick with those two and not second guess it.

Thank you. I like them long term too, I'm just worried about this week. I'm on a two game losing streak, and I'm trying to find a way to stop it.

YAJ - LOL Nice catch. My spelling is qusetionbull at bset.
