I didn't read the exact quote but from what I understand he said somethig along the lines of Eli's playing ok BUT he shouldn't be afraid to go down the field or throw long?
Why go there? You hire a west coast OC Eli's interceptions are down, WTF?
You want to start a discussion on a quote you haven't actually read.
the run game and score TD's in the Red Zone without turning it over all game. If we have say 35-37 minutes of ball control and four TD's and a FG we have a shot at victory if the defense plays its absolute best at home.
I don't want Eli going deep unless he has time AND a wide open Beckham to throw to (or TE Robinson who should be tried at least).
and I took it as calling out the coaches. Not only did he have a comment about Eli but he also spoke about playing D. Moore. I don't think he is happy with Coughlin right now.
I understand Reese has to stay positive but, at some point, you have
to recognize that your talent level is insufficient to allow you to compete on a regular basis.
Would Reese ever admit, mid-season, that he has not done a good job of restocking this roster or his belief in his picks so misguided or overvalued that he cannot afford to admit this.
Fact is the offensive line is simply not talented enough...I mean J.D. Walton is awful. I might feel better if Schwartz were fully healthy and back in the starting lineup with Richburg now at center. But, we are going nowhere with Walton there.
On D, injuries have really hurt plus we lack depth at DT with Jenkins being out/hurt. At LB, we might be better off with Beason firmly on IR and let Williams, McLain and Kennard play together. But that is still a weak unit. The secondary has had injury issues and now we are using Hosley as the slot corner and he is just not good enough. Then we have issues at safety because of the Will Hill situation. Not to mention DRC can't seem to finish a game and I am not impressed with him at the best of times.
Hell, not even mentioning special teams which have been awful for years yet we have kept our ST coordinator employed despite a job performance record that is consistently bad.
I want to be optimistic but exactly where do I place my optimism?
That about sum it up?
He basically had all day last week.

Absolutely perfect! Wonder if Reece understands Math 101!
