loses this game and ND runs the table I'm very interested to see if they would put an 11-1 ND over FSU. They have TCU ahead of Baylor right now and Oregon ahead of Arizona, so they can't just blindly put them ahead because of head to head. ND would likely finish with more quality wins if that were to happen

I think they would like to drop FSU because of the Winston issues.
Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long is also the chairman of the playoff committee and he was a guest on "The Dan Patrick Show" when he was asked about Notre Dame's ranking. Long explained that the loss was impressive but it was still a loss. But more importantly, Long noted that Notre Dame doesn't have any impressive wins.
"I think if you look at Notre Dame's resume at this point, they have a very close loss against Florida State on the road and it is a loss," Long told Dan Patrick. "But the rest of the body of their work against the teams they have played has not impressed the committee as much as the teams that are ahead of Notre Dame."
In fact, the committee was so unimpressed with Notre Dame's six wins, all at home and none against teams currently in the top-25, Long suggested that the Irish would have been much lower in the rankings if not for their "good loss" to Florida State.
"Then you look at the rest of the body of [Notre Dame's] work, I would tell you [the loss to Florida State] did help them."
I have with that is Michigan State's resume is no better. Nebraska sucks. Look no further than being tied 24-24 late in the 4th quarter against an FCS team at home. Nebraska is only ranked because of their pathetic schedule, they don't pass the eye test, they don't pass any test. If you are tied late in the 4th against an FCS team you're garbage
is a good football team, and the Thursday night games have always been tricky spots for the road team. DeVante Parker finally playing is huge for them, they may be undefeated if he played all year, 1 loss at worst.
I think this helps ND. Gives them another chance at a quality win.
fan, I dont get caught up in the rankings. Its all point of view. People will boost ND's schedule because Louisville is good. Others will point NDs schedule isnt as good because FSU is getting whalloped.
Every year there is a clusterfuck around this time, and usually by the end of the year, its pretty much cleared up. If ND wins out, Ill be shocked if they arent included. Yeah there are some teams who can fuck it up for them, but I dont think there are a lot of dominant teams in college this year and a lot of teams in the top 10 will have at least 2 if not 3 losses by the end of the regular season.
and it is those throws off the back foot. A lot of those back-foot throws which he can get there due to pure arm strength in college would be picks in the NFL.

True, but we know an NFL QB with two rings that has the same bad habit.
Not sure why the slow starts week after week, but this team is not what it was last year. They'll likely get in the playoff but it will be hard for them to win back to back against whatever SEC teams they will be playing.
IMO, mostly every top team in college sports is "dirty" in some way, shape or form. Are some worse than others? I'm sure, but it's not going to stop any of us from rooting the team on.

And yes, Winston is an immature punk.
Jimbo's defense, and that of prominent members of his fan base, went over and above. And the fact that as much of a piece of shit as Jameis has been over the last couple years he has yet to face meaningful disciplinary consequences (when Gurley sat out games because of investigation into minor misconduct - the same misconduct Winston is alleged to have done) is the reason why FSU is making a bid of that pantheon of despised programs.
will overlook a lot more for their star players then will teams that are not in the hunt. I think that is one reason you see the teams at the top of the standings always in the spotlight more than others. One is that it is a better story, but then there is also a tendency to err on the side of skipping punishment so you don't jeopardize a potential championship.
To some degree all of the programs look the other way when their star players are in trouble - they all suspend the marginal players. I think it just becomes more pronounced when you are at the top of the polls and keeping a kid playing when he shoudln't be can be all the difference in a season and a career.
WGAF. The issue is it's that plus the pellet gun plus the rape allegations (and the appearance that much was done to prevent those allegations from ever being brought to court).

I agree to an extent. I'm a Miami fan. They have a history of outright criminals playing on the team, paying players, etc... and it being alright to fans, coaches, etc...
Now would I defend or cheer for a player I suspected of raping a girl or shooting people with a pellet gun? I don't think so, but who knows. I've probably cheered for players who have done much worse knowingly or ignorantly. No one is reporting the shit The U players are doing this year because they are irrelevant not because they are now a boyscout clean-cut program.
I'm sure almost every program has serious issues. I even read an article yesterday talking about a current player for Alabama beating a guy so bad he thought he had killed the guy (who now dropped out) only being "suspended" for a year. But who cares, he isn't the QB on the national champs. It's not newsworthy.
at some point, CFB has become an all out race to win. No matter the cost in dollars, time or ruined human lives.
It has to be cleaned up.
It has been this way since the 70's at least. It won't get cleaned up until these players get some just compensation and I don't mean pay. They should get a weekly allowance and special all you can eat food plans at the least. It won't get cleaned up until properly qualified students fill the rosters.
I think the NCAA is a joke. Want to keep the agents out - simple. Have the convicted agent's license revoked for illegal contact with players, don't squeeze the student - squeeze the agent. They lose their license, then they lose all the players under their contract. That will end that.
It's about the money the schools make not just off the players but off their alumni.
ESPN now has more control and influence then the NCAA does.
Come on Vin, take the heat.
Well ESPN would do a better job than the NCAA, but the NCAA still rules the roost.
All schools make money off alumni, and not just sports. My problem with the NCAA is the inconsistent enforcement of any and all rules; plus the chickens$#t rules.
Watch Louisville S Gerod Holliman. Absolutely sick S
you go for the points there. didn't work out, but no problem with the decision.
lol

Would be like saying Oregon is out of the discussion because Arizona lost (at home) to USC.
Stanford is a bad football team I guess? Their losses are to AZ State, ND, and USC.
I bet you think Nebraska is a good football team, don't you?
Me too or is that NFL only?
Quote:
you were not allowed to fumble the ball forward at the end of each half and advance it
Me too or is that NFL only?
maybe it's NFL only. Either that or rules like that don't apply to FSU
I think it's pretty clear that his right calf was on the ground. They screw up replays routinely though, so nothing would be a surprise
FSU doesn't look great, and Louisville still loses, which eliminates Louisville as a quality win down the road.
Louisville played as well as they could. FSU just has better talent and they do this 1st half absence every week.
There just is not a dominant team this year. Not sure about Miss St., either.
True, but we know an NFL QB with two rings that has the same bad habit.
Louisville actually stopped them on 4th down at midfield that next drive, so it wasn't a big deal.
Not recovering the fumble right before half is what cost Louisville. 21-0 there going into half and i doubt they blow it
That's a lot of stadium stairs.
That's a lot of stadium stairs.
You're a Miami fan, correct?
At least (this year anyway) Miami kicks its alleged rapists off the team.
