Would a two tight end set work for the Giants ?

Manny in CA : 10/30/2014 11:10 pm
How it works ….

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1624948-breaking-down-why-the-two-tight-end-offense-is-the-best-in-the-nfl

The Pats have plugged in Brandon LaFell (for Aaron Hernandez)

Not saying the Giants have the same quality tight ends that the aforementioned teams have, but I think Donnell & Fells bring a lot more to the table than receivers Randle & Parker do.

2 TEs.
Randle is better than either TE.
A few of advantages ...

Is that you instantly have a bigger man available to block at the L.O.S. (if you want him to); get a big man mis-match against the linebackers …

Get a big man in the defensive secondary run blocking smaller CBs and probably most importantly, have bigger and easier targets two throw to in the WCO style offense that the Giants have gone to.

If the big guys are ripping the short & intermediate zones, that forces the safeties in and leaves Beckham one-on-one deep (which is what you really want).
Two TE set would NOT affect Randle but would affect FB Hysnoski

I have been praying, hoping, praying, hoping that Donnell and Robinson could do some two TE sets together where Robinson chips and tries to go down the seem with his speed. He surprised me with his speed in camp but I realize he is still raw.

However, we need something "new" these last nine games to surprise teams and Robinson has stayed healthy this year so he has to be learning something by now, right?

Donnell & Fells works too though Fells isn't going to stretch a defense with his speed.

We can imagine, can't we?
lafell isn't a tight end

NE traded for the TE from the bucs. tim wright...i think. he's the new hernandez (sans murders, i hope) they even gave him #81. Same build, smaller, lighter faster TE. more athletic. he's been getting up to speed in the O. caught a few TDs
Our big problem is Cruz is gone ...

Replaced by Parker - what a joke.

Randle is not an "X" because he's not fast enough, nor a flanker, because he's not break-away enough. So we're stuck with two mediocre options, or are we ?

I think Donnell, (as a "jumbo" flanker) could do a lot of damage. He's not going to "take to to the house" like Victor did, but he's going to out-jump a lot of people in the middle of the field, and run-over many CBs.

What I like about Fells is that he has good hands and reliable - what a QB running for his life, really needs.

Problem is, we are weak at the position. Man he flamed out, but I still miss shockey in his early years..
who knows if it will work?
SHO'NUFF : 10/31/2014 12:32 am : link
we never try.
Running two TE's
Doomster : 10/31/2014 8:26 am : link
works if they can block, but thus far they haven't....

I can see using them in 3rd and short, and then go play action, and hitting one of them down the seam....

As for Robinson, he looks like he has packed on some weight? Doesn't look as fast as earlier in the season....

This offense has moved the ball, with the short passing game.....part of the problem is the loss of Cruz.....OBj, for all his speed, has yet to catch a long one and take it to the house.....we have to create a long passing game....we haven't thus far......if we are trailing in the fourth by more than one score, this dink and dunk offense is not the answer......
I'd

like to see it, but as others have noted, you really need TEs who can block to make it effective, and ours don't do that very well. What I would like to try is "flexing" out one of the TEs off the LOS in place of a third WR. Might be a good way to get Robinson involved.

This, supposedly, high tempo O? It seems to have morphed into the run, run, pass, punt O for the most part. Need to go deep now & then to unclog the box.

Two tight ends.
I am all for it....
Jimmy Googs : 10/31/2014 12:28 pm : link
but need to draft two Tight Ends though.

You're right about Robinson, Acid ….
Manny in CA : 10/31/2014 9:33 pm : link
He does look chunky.

Maybe they told him to get bigger, so he could block. He is the more athletic of all three.
He looks like a fat Toomer
SHO'NUFF : 10/31/2014 10:29 pm : link
but has had 1 or 2 decent catches...I would find a way to get him in the game.
We have to see what we have in TE Robinson
SGMen : 10/31/2014 10:49 pm : link
He is athletic, that much we know. We also know his first two years had setbacks with missing OTA's, being injured and quite frankly being "raw" coming out of college.

He has stayed healthy this pre-season and season so lets see what we have in him? We need some kind of punch in the arm to lift us. We also need to know what we have in him before the draft. Fells isn't the future though he is clearly our best blocking TE.

WR Parker or TE Robinson / Fells? Hysnoski or a TE? Lots of options, lets see what we have with our young guys. If not these next two weeks definitely the last seven games if we are 3-6 and "out of the hunt".
We need to do something differently ...
Manny in CA : 11/1/2014 4:18 pm : link
As Albert Einstein said "Insanity is doing the same thing overhand over again and expecting different results".

Seems to me that the opposition is very happy to see us repeat our limited success plays "overhand over again".Even if we TRY something different and it doesn't work, at least it gives them something else to think about. If it does work big-time, that's even better.
