My doctor has been talking this up for a few years. Does anybody drink this and have any feedback? Also any suggestions on a filter or process to make water alkaline would be appreciated.
Thanks
I've seen these Phountain places pop up around Commack
It is extremely hard to follow an alkaline diet. The benefits are well documented about alkalizing your body. However, I'm surprised your doctor is pushing alkaline water. That is the first I have heard of a doctor pushing it. I was actually going to buy one so I started looking up the negatives of it. You have to really test your water first to see what kind of filter you need. If it is not filtering out chemicals, metals, prescription medications (yes, I meant to write that) then you can he doing more harm than good. I'm waiting until there is more research done on them. Don't go with the Kangen one if you do buy one as they are tied to pyramid schemes and the price is outrageous.
If you really want to alkaline your water just squeeze a lemon in it. Lemons are acidic but have an alkalining effect in your body. Start every morning with lemon water and wait like an hour before eating. Plus, even if you get the water than it isn't going to have much of an effect unless you change your diet too. To me, your diet is more important than alkalining your water.
Think of your body like a fish tank. If your PH balance is off then your start growing shit in there you don't want. Too acidic or too alkaline is not good. You want it to be a little above 7. The problem is that in our country it is so hard to be alkaline so you don't really have to be worried about being too alkaline because one can of soda or a hamburger will ruin your alkalinity.
However, I've read more on it in this thread then I ever heard before. I know the few times I tried it, it made me feel better, but I couldn't really explain it any better then that.
No studies to back any benefits, and having tried it along with an adjustment in diet coupled with regular testing of PH levels I didn't see any difference.
your body's fluid pH is tightly regulated. I think it has to do with CO2 levels in your blood. Eating acid or alkaline foods doesn't have anything to do with that, certainly not some lemon water.
Ha, that's exactly what I said. He's an older man and his wife had some bouts with cancer and is now doing fine, because of that I guess he has become more holistic. Like I said he's not trying to sell me anything but I am always skeptical.
a low acid diet may give you some other benefits, such as helping with acid reflux and silent reflux, but it doesn't really change your blood PH as it claims.
And instead of drinking soda and eating fast food burgers and drinking alkaline water, just skip the soda and burgers.
if you can make your body alkaline, then cancer cells cannot survive. It is in an acidic environment where they thrive.
A reverse osmosis water treatment system is what you would need. It basically strips that chemicals (especially the chlorine) out of your water supply. You would want to install it at the point where the water first enters your home. OR on any water line that provides water you drink or water that touches your skin (shower/sinks). Your skin is a sponge and absorbs those same chemicals when you wash.
Of course, no need to filter water going to your garden hoses.

There definitely are studies to back up your body being alkiline and acidic. However there is not much done on the water itself.
