NFT: RBNY v SKC playoff last night

Pork and Beans : 10/31/2014 9:17 am
Anyone watch? Three pretty crazy goals. Feilhaber with an incredible pass to spring Dwyer, followed by BWP magic. Some people just know how to score. What happened with SKC? Collin and Besler used to be one of the best CB pairings in MLS. I'm not a RB fan, but it is nice to see Henry get a few more games in, he looked legitimately stoked to be moving on. The playoff series going forward look pretty intriguing.

(I looked for a thread and didn't see one, if I missed it, I'll delete)
Exciting

You could see KC's goal coming for 40 minutes. RBNY's defensive line was playing way up the field, with acres of space for Dwyer to explode into on the counter...which Henry provided by passing to Alexander when he had three KC players around him. Dwyer had been a hair offsides 5 or 10 minutes prior that was a huge warning...I was begging Petke to pull the defenders and Dax back a little.

I didn't think the first goal was ever gonna come for RBNY. What a pass from Luyindula to spring Henry. Once that goal came the second was a matter of time, though the defending on that play was shambolic.

It was a great win in a really interesting tactical game (I love Petke but he isn't on Vermes's level yet as a manager), but it's gonna be tough to beat DC over two legs. The finishing has to be much better Sunday. Gotta take a couple goals down to that shithole in DC.
It seemed to me

after SKC opened the scoring, Henry came alive. Soon after he just missed a header and served up several dangerous balls to teammates.

The winning goal was blown by SKC, but the result was well deserved by RBNY.

Hope Henry stays one more year with the Red Bulls.

It was interesting...when Luyindula first came on for Alexander Henry pushed up basically as a left winger. After they equalized he came back quite a bit and was often collecting the ball just in front of the defense to begin the attack.

I'm not a huge Henry fan...I suspect his attitude, work rate, and enormous paycheck compared to his teammates has caused some friction. But the quality of his technique can't be denied. Both striking the ball and with the ball at his feet...he still has very few peers globally in these areas. France could have used him to try to break down Germany in the World Cup this summer. Unbelievable talent.

If you buy a ticket through their Supporters Group, the Red Bulls are running free buses down to DC next Saturday for the second leg of the playoff series with DC United.

Good deal for Red Bull fans.
