Jacksonville Saturday Night Nov 29th.

Fred-in-Florida : 11/14/2014 4:09 pm
In past discussions there has been a lot of interest in meeting on Saturday night before the game against Jacksonville.

Not knowing the area, a couple of sports bar type places have been recommended, Kickbacks and the Players Grill.

I have been in contact with both places but I need to know how many people would like to meet up for something (light) to eat and a couple beers!

So let me know if you're interested and how many in your group.

Thanks

At least 2 of us. Not sure when the 4 others in my group plan on getting into town. We are in for whichever place you choose. I'll be in town Friday night as well, open to any suggestions if any other fans get in early. Thanks again man for all your efforts for this weekend!

Run the places by you friends and ask which of those 2 they prefer. Are they in a good area. Hopeful, you'll be joining us?

Kickbacks & Players are in okay areas. Kickbacks is in the Riverside area of Jax. It's kinda hipsterish. Parking is tight around there, but Kjckbacks is a cool place. There is another eatery, The Blind Rabbit, opposite that is also very good. Players Grille is down San Marco/Hendricks blvd. good area, easy to get to, ample parking. The food is so-so, nowhere near as good as kickbacks, but it's a good family owned sports bar.
LPete, you are glossing over the Jax areas.
Diver_Down : 11/14/2014 9:10 pm : link
Once you cross the river, it is a cesspool of humanity. Not a night goes by, where there isn't a murder/shooting on the North or West side. And yes, Riverside is on the west side. The San Marco area is okay compared to the North and West sides. The River used to be the dividing line, but now anywhere North of Emerson is a hell-hole.

I know jacksonville v well . I'm a rep for a local food supplier. Aside from the beaches , the entire city is my territory. Pretty much got jacked yesterday on Soutel in the north . Fun times...
And I can't
LPete : 11/14/2014 9:27 pm : link
think of a decent place within walking distance of the stadium. As soon as you pull out of there your either going to fucking Arlington or you're on A Phillip Randolph and that's just plight and squalor
LPete, I hope you weren't hurt.
Diver_Down : 11/14/2014 9:30 pm : link
I know I'm generalizing, but for the most part, it is true. Heck, it used to be once you crossed the Ditch, you were safe. Now, you North of JTB by the Beaches is shady at night.
I bribed by way out
LPete : 11/14/2014 9:44 pm : link
with a bit of charm, $2 and half a can of mountain few. Even the panhandlers and jackers in jacksonville suck. I learnt my lesson; sometimes prospecting for a new account isn't worth the hassle in certain areas. Soutel, Lem Turner, Norwood are all off my "areas where there might be some hidden gem restaurants"list. Because there are no hidden gems, just crab houses and shit holes
The annoying thing is
LPete : 11/14/2014 9:49 pm : link
is that I live in Fernandina. Sometimes I think my job would be easier if I moved to jax and save myself 75 miles round trip four days out of my week. But then i think...which part do you move to? There's nothing really that appealing.

Saturday night. In addition, it was where a Chicago Bears fan who came into town to watch his team was stabbed. I believe it was outside McCool's. He had his throat slashed.

Fred, I will be there with one more BBIer. Keep us posted. We should be getting in Saturday evening and are staying at the Homewood Suites near San Marco. Anywhere works for us we are not familiar with area. You have our tickets anyway so we are at your mercy.
Fred, the Jacksonville Landing is

a development along the waterfront (Hence, the Landing), that comprises of a number of bars/restaurants. It is located in the downtown near the Main Street bridge.
Still got my tix, Fred?

A buddy and I will be there. Staying @ the Hampton on I295. Will be in touch Fred.
Hi, Fred...
tony stg : 11/17/2014 8:32 am : link
... after doing the round trip yesterday of driving my daughter back to UNF from our home in the Clearwater area and then back home in one day (8 hrs of driving total), I'm starting to re-think my strategy of heading up and back all on Sunday. If I decide to go up on Saturday night though it will probably be late; too late to meet up with the group.

I saw the Hampton you have booked for that Saturday night as I passed by on I-275; it's across the highway from a Holiday Inn I've stayed at a couple of times while my daughter had her school visits / orientation at UNF. Not very familiar with bar/restaurant places there, but the area seems decent. The hotel is not too far from the St.John's Town Center which has a bunch of eating spots (Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Bahama Breeze, Maggiano's, etc.), but no sports bars that I am aware of.

Looking forward to catching up with folks... especially Joey from Va who I always thought I'd like to meet.

Fred you should get the emails of guys going so you can send out info

Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'll most likely be attending Sat

Frustrating!

Just when I play a few good rounds...it all goes to s--t! Well that's golf. But being in Florida I do get to play regularly.

Bogey golf Handicap back up to 20.

Always looking for a partner! Hint!

ST. Pete group is still in play to join you.

that met up with Fred last night look closely at the parking pass. The parking pass is not for lot TT despite the directions pointed out by Fred. They are for Lot V which is located up by the Arena - NW of the stadium.
