Funny, I just googled Lurtsema and none of the pics look nearly as bad as I remember :)

How can we overlook
blueblood'11 : 11/15/2014 10:05 am : link
Killer? Carl Banks. As for Larry Flowers. Back then story had it not only was he crazy on those special teams but he would run down the field screaming at the top of his lungs you can't block me you can't block me. That's one crazy dude.

Stacie Robinson, Joe Morris, Tony Galbreath. Bobby fourth and seventeen Johnson. Phil Simms. The Hoss, Jeff Hostetler.

Sorry to say It feels like we are heading into the dark ages when all we have to look forward too is looking back in time.
How about this guy

Floyd Eddings.
Ron Johnson

Great lineman...bad commercials!

Go back and watch his one season - I'm talking ability to play the game, not contributions - that's hard to measure due to his short stay here.

Could cover, great range, and could really hit.

but, admittedly - this is based on memory

think he may have been a locker room problem
bc4life : 11/15/2014 10:23 am : link
when he complained about being released, one of the position coaches mentioned that it was his 4th team in 5 years, or something close to that.

also look at his Viking highlights to get a sense of his abilities.
How can we forget Joe Morrison...
GA5 : 11/15/2014 10:23 am : link
Maybe the best all around player the Giants ever had. Played RB, Split End, Flanker, reserve QB, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. A great Giant!

Glenn covered a lot of ground and made some big plays, but ranking him among the best ever just rubs me wrong. He was here one year!
And I am well aware of his play...
Chris in Philly : 11/15/2014 10:28 am : link
on the Vikings, but that is irrelevant. It's like saying Herschel Walker and Brian Mitchell are among the greatest RB's in franchise history.
and how many games/seasons
bc4life : 11/15/2014 10:31 am : link
did Sherrard play? Did that rub you the wrong way too?

Where did I rank him among the greatest ever in franchise history?
not important enough to argue about
bc4life : 11/15/2014 10:36 am : link
guess you're going to have to be rubbed the wrong way
Emlen Tunnell...
Chris in Philly : 11/15/2014 10:39 am : link
Spider Lockhart, Jimmy Patton, Dick Nolan, even Kinard, Greg Jackson, and Guyton. Hell Antrel Rolle would rank higher. But whatever.

what they have to do is get him more in space. Short pass and let him do his thing after the catch.

That's where we miss Wilson too. He would have been a good fit for this offense.

Eric, this conversation is not complete without a mention of Thomas Lewis. Talked about unfulfilled potential.

Now that I think of it, would have been nice to have the Denver Bronco's version of Ed McCaffrey...

Cool. Can't wait to see where you rank Martellus Bennett ahead of Shockey and Bavaro!
yeah whatever

Odessa turner shit all over the skins for a few years
djm : 11/15/2014 8:44 pm : link
But the dude could not stay healthy. He'd catch a pass in the end zone and break his collarbone or something.

2007 after the win at Washington week 3 my friend next to me says he has formed a decent relationship with turner and proceeds to call him and puts me on the phone. I told him if we had him on the field that day we wouldn't have needed a goal line stand because he owned the skins back in the day. He laughed and agreed.

Cook story bro I know.

I think you guys throwing out Tito Wooten and Homer Jones
tdmaker85 : 11/15/2014 10:16 pm : link
are missing Eric's original point. It's about having excellent backups who, once called to duty, did not drop the level of play that much. Lewis Tillman is a great example.

Also, Vencie Glenn? That guy was a good Charger but a horrible Giant. Plus he took out Bavaro's knee iirc. Let's cool off on the Canton talk.
